The Human Variant race gets a feat at first level - that is the only way to do this.
We are aware that some people run a "house rule" that allows all first level characters a bonus feat, but this is not a D&D rule from the rulebook, so currently not supported.
It is likely that adding more feats/languages etc will be allowed in the future.
Is there a way to add a feat to a character at first level?

So even when homebrewing a race on here its not possible to add it like it is for the variant human?
Much has changed since my post above in 2017.
