Another web site I find myself having to visit frequently that also has to have some form of record for my character and me as a human being (because I DM, too) is one of the adventurer's league log web sites. The ability to, again, visit one place ... enter my session information, then associate that with a character already on my dndbeyond.com account and have all the related math done for me without having to come re-enter data? That would be a massive selling point, I think.
...regarding AL logsheets - they would indeed be very simple for us to program. There are several other reasons that we have not implemented them to this point, and unfortunately I can't talk about those reasons yet since they involve information that has not been revealed by Wizards of the Coast to the public yet.
I guess I'll reiterate once more that jumping to conclusions without having all the details about something is an exercise in futility.
I know that 2018 will be exciting for both D&D Beyond and the Adventurers League, so I encourage everyone to join us along for the ride!
Without going through that entire thread, I'm not sure if this was also addressed: Has there been any discussion anywhere about allowing the character sheets to specify a +1 source? I can see why that thread was closed, I'm not concerned about the whens or hows. I would just like to offer my feedback that it would be nice to have an option when creating a character to check an option that the character is meant for AL, similar to the current option of having tool tips each step, and have that option include specifying a +1 and having a log sheet.
So far DnD beyond is my favored place for monster stats and character builds.
I would like to see option at the start of character creation that turns Adventure League mode on and lets me pick my PHB+1 locking out spells and DMG content that would not be legal.
I would also like to see lot sheets that I can attach to my characters to keep score of adventures played exp, gp, Downtime, renown earnt as well as notes for each adventure. The ideal future story awards and weapons with flavor text would all ready be in the Dnd system ready to be assigned to the character.
These documents are updated at least twice per year and would be amazing to be available on D&D Beyond. It's habit to redownload the documents every time I want to reference since they change.
These might also be a good example of a first step to getting 3rd parties formatting content for the compendium.
According to BadEye, AL support will come, and I’d be surprised if it didn’t include these. The only thing is that we have to wait a bit more, as there seems to be changes on the horizon for AL, and DDB will await these changes before implementing the support here.

My thought here is that these are completely non-mechanical. These are strictly compendium content. What is done now is no different than what would be done this summer when the changes for AL are supposed to roll out.
On a conceptual level, I agree, but from Adam's post I suspect it is WotC itself that doesn't really want to give full greenlight for the integration and support before the changes to AL are said and done.
I believe he was talking about mechanical things like Log Sheets and similar. This is entirely non-mechanical. Have you looked at the documents? I know some don't really fit like the DM Quest Card, but things like the FAQ are quite on point for a document system like this.
I don't want to post something that has already been done. Is there a way to limit the books you see content from? I am thinking of the PHB + 1 rule.
Short answer: no
Longer answer: no, but it's coming. Adam (BadEye) confirmed that integration with AL will be a thing, but there's still some time to wait due to changes that are to be done on AL from WotC, so currently there is no way to limit on the website the resources available at character creation. Then again, they might introduce something like this with the incoming Character Creator/Sheet, revamp, so it's just a matter of being patient :)

I've been wanting to participate in the Adventurers League for some while now, and DnD Beyond is such a phenomenal tool, that I've wondered if it will eventually support AL.
By this I mean if it will contain all of the AL rules in the Compendium, use said special rules for the Character Creator, to make logs directly in the campaign manager, export the character sheet directly into the AL Character Sheet format and so on and forth.
For the players/DMs out there, I'm also interested in what features you think are important for AL support and how would you like to see them implemented.
Just stopping by this thread to keep the topic active (I was going to create a new thread, but I was a conscientious forum goer and searched first). Granted this is anecdotal, but I know of a half dozen people at my FLGS alone, that are waiting to buy into the D&D Beyond ecosystem until it's fully able to support AL play and characters.
That's all, just a friendly bump to raise awareness. :)
D&D Adventurer's League is pretty popular and it would be very nice if D&D Beyond were to support AL features such as:
Ability to create AL or non-AL characters. If creating an AL character, once something from a source book is picked outside of the PHB, automatically bind that character to the source book (as per the PHB+1 rules)
Let the user knowingly select spells outside of the source book in the case of a wizard, which may learn spells not in their source book by finding a scroll or copying from another wizard.
Have a log sheet associated with each character that can accept AL required values
This log sheet doesn't have to be just for AL. It could be a more generic "Character Journal" or something similar. Maybe have it be AL bound if the character was created as an AL character (see previous bullet point)
Allow a DM to "sign" a players log sheet to mark that a magic item was obtained.
This log could then be used to mark the characters level, as more XP is added, the character is automatically given a level.
I think that having the ability to create AL characters and track character information would be very useful for AL and for non-AL play. Even in non-AL play, being able to track the XP in a journal would be useful for keeping things up to date and marking when/where items were obtained.
I'd also like to request these features. Since DDB tends to merge all the sources that you've bought, it can be difficult to comply with the "+1 rule". A warning should be presented if a user tries to break the "+1 rule" so they could decide if they want to switch their additional source.

Here's a recent quote from another thread, which covers this:

If you need help with homebrew, please post on the homebrew forums, where multiple staff and moderators can read your post and help you!
"We got this, no problem! I'll take the twenty on the left - you guys handle the one on the right!"🔊
Not the "Yes, it'll be done by the end of the day.." I was hoping for, but I thank you.
Can I get a source thread for this quote? Just curious whether there were exercises in futility that followed.

Multiple threads merged. It is likely that the answers you seek are already in this thread.
