Hey All, I just recently found Hazirawn in the Hoard of the Dragon Queen & it says that if not attuned it is just a +1 weapon but if attuned you get a buncha goodies. Now my question is, is that it says, in the DMG, that if you have an intelligent item that is opposed in alignment & purpose to the wielder that you have to make an opposed CHA check or a number of things could happen. But I didn't read anywhere where it says you have to be attuned to it for that to happen. So I guess what I am trying to ask is that if I am not attuned to it can I still use it as just a +1 weapon & not risk having it control me?

As a DM, I'd say that makes sense, though I might also try to goad you into attuning it via whispers and visions or feelings from the weapon itself.
Man, that is a lot of plot and meta information you probably shouldn't have as a player... Definitely shouldn't be trying to take advantage of it..

well not that it doesn't work on cursed items, but it doesn't identify the curse itself. It would identify the other features.
