I don't want to purchase books I already have purchased, but I would like to buy a smaller package if it will help me make new character builds. Is there a cheaper option other than buying books that were already purchased?
Also a quick suggestion. Maybe increase the cost of the books like $5, then that $5 also gives you the options of using that book data on this site. That way people are getting more options w/o knowing it, AND you don't have to ask people to buy something twice which is probably a tough ask.
The following links I've supplied should answer in greater detail.
The easy option is, if you go to the Marketplace and select an individual book, you can buy 'piecemeal' i.e. just buy the races and classes you want. They are (I think?) $1.99 each. Depending on how many races/classes you want however, it may be just as cheap to buy the Book.
That said, any purchases made towards each book will be discounted by the amount of stuff you buy from the book (if that makes sense - as a rough example, say the Players Handbook costs $25 and you buy the Forest Gnome for $5, the rest of the book will be discounted down to $20 if you wished to buy the whole thing).

Looking to add mouse-over triggered tooltips to such things like magic items, monsters or combat actions? Then dash over to the How to Add Tooltips thread.
In between buying individual races and classes piecemeal and buying whole books is a lot of the books have options to buy "races" "subclasses" as a whole, usually saving a few $ on the set vs. buying them all individually.
I'd say one caveat for spell casters. I believe in D&D Beyond spell selection will be limited to what you own (same with magic items). Spells can be bought individual or as bundles. So factoring that you might as well buy PHB, and Xananthar's and Tasha's in their entirety.

It sounds like you're under the impression that this site is run by Wizards of the Coast. It's not. D&D Beyond is a completely separate entity, that has a license to sell WotC content. Adjusting the price of the print books will have no effect on this site. For more information, see the links Lamoon01 provided.
