I’m really sorry if this has already been asked/answered a ton of times, (but my player & I have been looking all over the place), and can’t find a specific rule to site.
Can you wear a ring of spell storing or ring of protection w/gauntlets of Ogre strength or gloves of thievery?
I’ve been discussing it w/the rogue in my campaign & I’ve seen the iinfo about “only one kind of the item at once” & wearing the item on the right slot only.
Not sure about wearing a magic ring w/magic gauntlets or gloves (if heavy), though I would see no problem w/rings & bracers.
previous editions of D&D had rules like, "only two magical rings" and so forth, but that doesn't apply in 5th edition.
Characters are mostly limited by attunement instead - being able to attune to a maximum of three magical items (not all magic items require attunement).
Additionally, the rules state:
Use common sense to determine whether more than one of a given kind of magic item can be worn. A character can't normally wear more than one pair of footwear, one pair of gloves or gauntlets, one pair of bracers, one suit of armor, one item of headwear, and one cloak. You can make exceptions; a character might be able to wear a circlet under a helmet, for example, or to layer two cloaks.
With regards wearing magical gloves/gauntlets as well as a magical ring, that's totally ok, though a DM may describe a magical ring as having a really large and obvious gem in it, which could make it difficult to wear under gauntlets - that's up to the DM!
If its a magical ring - there's no reason why it can't be worn OUTSIDE of the gloves - take Sauron from LoTR's - in the movie he's shown wearing the one ring over what one would assume might be armored gauntlets - AFAIK most magical rings can change size to fit the wearer (I currently have a Ring of Lightning resistance resized as a collar for my ranger's black bear companion)
