Is there a way to unlock the books on the website if you already have them in real life, or do you need to repurchase them if you want to use their content.
can someone confirm whether we can or will be able to use google play credit? Any time I try to buy books in the app it just says "token access expired" may just be a bug on my end but who knows lol
So, you have to go to the app, click on a book you don't yet own, and it will give you the option to purchase. At that point it will take you through the process, and SHOULD give you the option to use your google credit. Tread lightly, as I think it's like a three tap purchase. If it either doesn't let you or doesn't give you access to your entire google credit, bear in mind that some of the google credit might be on hold. At least that is something that happened to me.
Hopefully it is easy enough for you, but I think I did have to contact google at least after one of those purchases.

That's so weird. Mine always only show up as unavailable with the "access token expired" in red. I wonder if its because I use android?
What do I get when I buy a book? Do I get just the monsters, items, and things that can be used for character creation, or do I get the actual adventure with stuff like locations, maps, and NPCs? For context, I'm DMing for a friend and some of his friends that moved away, and I have gift cards so I can buy the adventures on mobile, but I'm not sure if I'll get that actual adventure, or just the monsters, items, etc.

Take a look at the adventure Frozen Sick, which is provided to everyone free of charge!
Although it's fairly short, it's a good example of what you get in an adventure on D&D Beyond.
You can buy just the compendium only - which is just a digital version of the book you can read.
You can buy the individual monsters, races, items, etc to unlock these in the searches, for crosslinking, and to use in your character sheet, encounter builder and other tools on here.
If you buy the full sourcebook you get everything. The full digital book to read and all the options for the tools, searches and whatnot.

Here's a screenshot of the table of contents for the new Explorer's Guide to Wildemount. When you purchase the digital book on D&D Beyond, you get everything the physical book has. Monsters, races, stories, reference maps (not tabletop size), and all the lore in between. Even the sidebar notes are included.

Thanks
Now that the app is out... you can use google pay credits to buy books. I plan to make judicious use of this.
What about the other way around? Does ordering a book on DnD Beyond give you a physical copy of the book?
No DnDBeyond only sells electronic copies and their online tools that make use of the data in the electronic copies.
Please could you explain how this works for me?
I use the Google Opinions App and then how do I use the credit I receive to buy things on here?

Full of rice, beans, and bad ideas.

I use Android as well. I'd contact google maybe to see if it can be fixed?

Thanks. This really helps!
Just so you know, it looks like anyone can view the Table of Contents for a book even without owning it: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/egtw
No need for a screenshot :)
