Glide. When you fall at least 10 feet above the ground, you can use your reaction to extend your skin membranes to glide horizontally a number of feet equal to your walking speed, and you take 0 damage from the fall. You determine the direction of the glide.
vs Old :
Glide:If you are not incapacitated or wearing heavy armor, you can extend your skin membranes and glide. When you do so, you can perform the following aerial maneuvers:
-You can move up to 5 feet horizontally for every 1 foot you descend in the air, at no movement cost to you. -When you would take damage from a fall, you can use your reaction to reduce the fall’s damage to 0.
Hey Ophidimancer, you should probably read that reddit thread. Almost everyone but the original poster seems to completely disagree that its racist. I have no view on this, but you may want to check what the internet thinks.

3 times, I have played level 20 characters. These experiences normally lead my sanity to divide as my other 4 players square up out of annoyance. In addition, 172 people polled by Eris, resident eldritch evil, say their sanity was a fifth of what is was after tracking max level combat with Solanar and Atemos. A while ago, I was rooted in fear after my character was stabbed. But the time was around 8.91 seconds before the end, and I rounded the fight out with a bang.

I read the thread, I also participated in discussions elsewhere. The lore as it was written was racist, I'm not saying it is so because people thought it so. The original poster lays out all the evidence, but I already knew and had thought all of it already. I'm not saying that the internet decided the lore was racist. It was. I'm just saying the internet took notice.

Again, I have no stance on this, but thanks for clearing this up.

Everyone else on that thread disagreed, especially the African Americans. I found that really interesting.

Not everyone and not all the black people. What is it you find interesting about it?
As per upvotes, most everyone. Nevermind. I thought it would be all the African Americans most up in arms about this, but I guess not. Maybe I am just out of touch as a white guy on the internet.

The paragraph explaining the Hadozee's origins is also missing now? Why was none of this announced? Stealth errata isn't a good practice.
Like Ophid said, it was pretty racist (or, at least shared a lot of traits with racist propaganda from the past). I agree that they should announce the change officially and explain why they did it.

EDIT: A few of them said they were Americans.
And whether or not something is racist is somehow dependent on the opinions of Redditors? There's another discussion of the same topic on ENWorld (that was closed down after 13 pages), and almost everyone that participated in that discussion agreed that it seemed racist.
I'm personally in the camp that agrees "mindless monkeys that were enslaved and turned into people" is a bad look. I'm not saying that WotC was intending to be racist or knew how poorly that idea was thought out, but I do think that at the very least the implications of what they published were . . . extremely poor.
Oh, of course redditors are not...great sources, shall we say. I never said I agreed with them, I just found it interesting. Hopefully thats clear.

Now that this is apparently a possibility, they have the option to get rid of the "gods mandate that space hippos know how to use guns" BS from the same book. I'm honestly baffled that more people aren't complaining about that.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
They were trying to pay an homage to Planet of the Apes, but screwed up so badly that it looked racist.
I wouldn't be surprised if they did claim the intent was to make some mention of the "uplift" trope in SciFi, or Planet of the Apes, but the reference didn't stick and both iterations of Planet of the Apes have some power dynamics in them (actually sort of muted from the original French novel) that sort of requires a deft touch that the present way D&D presents character options just doesn't have the room for.

Now I'm not sure how accurate this is but one of my co-workers just told me that they're supposed to be based off of the flying monkeys from The wizard of Oz.

If I can't say something nice, I try to not say anything at all. So if I suddenly stop participating in a topic that's probably why.

I hope not, because if so then OOOOOOOOOOOOOF!!!

Quiet new change to the Hadozee happened.
New:
Glide. When you fall at least 10 feet above the ground, you can use your reaction to extend your skin membranes to glide horizontally a number of feet equal to your walking speed, and you take 0 damage from the fall. You determine the direction of the glide.

-When you would take damage from a fall, you can use your reaction to reduce the fall’s damage to 0.
Interesting that it doesn"T matter how far you fall as long as it is at least 10 feet. Also interesting that they can now glide in heavy armor.
"Sooner or later, your Players are going to smash your railroad into a sandbox."

"real life is a super high CR."
-OboeLauren
"............anybody got any potatoes? We could drop a potato in each hole an' see which ones get viciously mauled by horrible monsters?"
-Ilyara Thundertale
It’s just another example of really bad design and use of language.

Probably in response to the internet taking notice of how racist it was. https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/x2n83s/an_indepth_summary_of_the_hadozee_controversy/
Stealth errata isn't good practice and I think they should probably make a statement of some sort, but also that trash needed to go.

Why couldn't they have just used the Yazirian background? Would have been much simpler.

Yep just a species that evolved on a low-G / high-tree world. That's pretty much what they are now.
