By all the gods, of each edition, homebrewed or official, yes.
So, what campaigns are you currently in Sposta?
Wubbout you, Caer? Any fun table tales to share?
Presently I am in two campaigns--both DMing. One is a Strixhaven campaign I run for real-world friends and family--one of the players is a huge Harry Potter nerd (but the kind that actively pretends Harry Potter came into existence due to spontaneous generation and not from a certain someone's mind) and had been toying with the idea of starting to play, but never committed. "Hey, it's a Harry Potter college where you get to be a student" sold them on starting. We just finished the first year of school, with them stopping a particular threat, while getting hints of a larger threat to come.
It has been fun so far--I greatly expanded on the rules for test taking, exams, and downtime, and have been keeping track of their progress and rolling for the other students in their year, so they can have class rankings.
Eventually the plan is for them to graduate (likely around level 10), then skip forward to level 13 as the party returns for their 5-year reunion. Something bad will happen at the reunion as one of the classmates they treated awfully comes back for vengeance, and that will kick off a more traditional "explore the world fighting bad guys" campaign. (If it gets that far, one of the party is about to have a baby, and that might kill the campaign--as life so often does).
The other is a complete homebrew for a group of folks I know online. That one is set in a world where to blokes 300 years ago killed a god and the gods reacted rather violently, retaliating with a massive magical strike that broke their world. Then they left, and some of the things the gods imprisoned have been getting free. The world is mostly centered around a few guilds that exist to survive in this world--a group of archeologists trying to find dangerous things, a group of hunters who kill the big bad monsters that are getting free, and a group that tries to prevent magic from being used for such a devastating purpose again.
It's been fun--the party just had a run in with the BBEG (they are at level 10 now) and got more information about his plans--including the fact that he tricked the warlock into giving him information he needed to erase the warlock's patron from existence. They'll be starting the second arc--trying to stamp out some cult activity that has grown up in the capital city--later today, which should be fun.
Cool stuff. I always love homebrew.
I tried some third new with this homebrew that I’ll probably use again - since players won’t know the world, I wrote a. In-universe guidebook to give them an introduction to the world, politics, gods, etc. - all the things their characters would know having grown up in the world. The book is written by an extremely eccentric person and is full of mockery, casual disregard of lethal threats, and other silliness. I went a bit overboard on this primer (some 86 single spaced pages. Whoops), but think the idea has some merit for future if shorter—my players read the totality of it this time and enjoyed it, but can’t remember the contents all that well.
Wow, that’s the kind of thing you could publish.
I'm currently running two Starfinder campaigns and came here with the intention of learning more about DMing 5e after I discovered that Dragonlance had returned but sadly this OGL drama has s--- on that score. Previously I had considered Spelljammer (makes sense considering my love of Starfinder) but the scathing reviews left me not wanting to spend a lot of money on the setting.
My introduction to Dungeons & Dragons was not through the tabletop game but through video games and television; as far back as 1982, when 'Advanced Dungeons & Dragons' and 'Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Treasure of Tarmin' appeared on Mattel Electronics Intellivision game console and the Saturday Morning animated television show, 'Dungeons & Dragons'.
Played almost all of the popular D&D video game adaptations to date. So far, nothing out there rivals the 'Baldur's Gate' series.
Picked up a Starter Set box of D&D almost 10 years ago yet ended up collecting dust in a storage trunk.
What warmed me up to the tabletop game was the YouTube video, 'Lost Odyssey: Promised Gold' featuring Debra Ann Woll, Michelle Rodriquez, Jack Black and Gaten Matarazzo from 'Stranger Things' playing D&D for a charity benefit back in 2022 (or was it 2021...?).
This is where my obsession of D&D began. Almost anyone I come into contact with I tell them about D&D and what changes have been made; be it my doctor, or a passerby in a retail store or a friend that could make a potential D&D player.
Reading the comments on D&D Beyond forums drew my attention to 'Journeys Through The Radiant Citadel' and 'STRIXHAVEN: A Curriculum Of Chaos' are unquestionably steps in the right direction for Dungeons & Dragons.
Planning to pickup 'Tasha's Cauldron Of Everything' and the Bigby's Giants theme monster book when time permits.
That’s cool. I watched that cartoon too, but what got me started on D&D was an old card game named Spellfire. Then I got into AD&D through some friends.
Hello there, fellow adventurers! Thank you Sposta for making this haven, I am weary indeed from the Great Righteous Rage of '23. Anyway, I am currently only in one campaign as a DM and none as a player. The one I am in is basically Pathfinder Kingmaker only in my homebrew world with very RAW 5e rules. I really like the exploration and city building aspect of this campaign (I'm using Balduran's Guide from the Dungeon Masters Guild) and it is probably my favorite campaign in my 8 years of DMing. I started playing D&D in 2014, 3.5 edition, although I wanted to try it for a decade before but I thought I could never find the books I needed. I hope this isn't too dark, but D&D literally saved my life from clinical depression I was in (still am, but it's almost gone now). My first DM was a horrible bully, and I myself was an incompetent DM for most of my first year, but here I am, with 2 complete campaigns under my belt (and about two dozen failed ones, but hey). While 3.5 was nice, and the two Pathfinder video games really brought my love for it back, 5e is just perfect for me, and the playtest for One looks even better.

I started when my dad gave me the red box (checks date) 40 years ago. He’d was in the military and had played, he thought I might like it, too. Don’t you hate it when your parents are right?
Now, I’ve got my son playing. Three generations of D&D.
me and my friends we're big time 2E players in middle school.
unfortunately the house we played in was a rather strict religious house. i'd leave my books, that i bought, with him because that's where we played. then his mother discovered them....burned....$200 worth (which is a lot for a 12 year old).
quit the hobby altogether until 2019-2020 when i just stumbled onto Roll20 and DNDBeyond and joined an online game with a tremendously good DM. I got lucky, scored a great online group right off the bat and we're still 5 levels deep in the Tomb of Annihilation and about to start Netherdeep on an alternate day.

Well, welcome! I’m glad D&D was able to help you through a rough spot in your life, it’s helped me through a few myself. And don’t worry about the failed campaigns, I lost count years ago of how many campaigns of mine fizzled for one reason or another, it’s really only the successes that matter.

That sucks about your old books falling victim to the satanic panic of the day, but I’m glad you came back to the hobby in such a fantastic campaign!
Never heard of 'Spellfire'; looking at the official website as I type this. Reminds me of 'Magic The Gathering'.
Used to play 'Magic the Gathering' many, many moons ago. Dropped out the game because Wizards of the Coast would ban cards that would win games against professional players game officials favored most.

Yeah, I always hated the banned lists for M:tG. Spellfire was an alright game, I don’t really remember it anymore though other than I was big into it as a kid.

Honestly ove started to consider most of the ones that don't fizzle out due to bad interactions with others as a success cuz idc if the adventure ends I'm just there to have fun. If I've had fun it's a succes even if it dies out

Ugh. $200 isn’t chump change for anyone, but a kid in the 80’s, whoa. It wasn’t until years later I realized how lucky I was that no one in my friend group and a parent who fell for the panic.
On how we started DND and first experiences, my uncle got my older siblings into 2nd edition and then we moved so I was the only person they could find to fill out their LOTR themed game. I was 4 and played Glorfindel and was a fighter. I don't remember it being a very long lived game but I loved rolling the dice.
After that we transitioned to 3.0 and I played a Dwarf fighter up to level 8 before I fell into a pit trap and died to friendly fire. I don't remember much about the adventures themselves but I loved doing it even though I don't think I ever understood what was going on fully.
I started playing 5e in 2016 and have really enjoyed it. I haven't been super active playing but I played a few sessions at the beginning of the pandemic but and I dmed a Christmas one shot in 2021 but I haven't gotten to play as much as I'd like.
Currently I'm in a play by post run by Krayvaneer which as been pretty amazing. They seem to out a lot of effort into their world building and everyone in the group is really nice.
I'm in four campaigns at the moment, three as a player, one as DM.
We've just finished part of one that's going on hiatus, it's doing Tales from the Yawning Portal. Very hack 'n' slash, so the character is fairly 1-D, a Drakewarden with a killer of a shot (he has Sharpshooter).
Another is uncertain, the DM had a medical episode the other week and whike he's going to continue playing, we're not sure what's going to happen to the campaign. My character is a Dragonborn Twilight Cleric with a nasty temper. I thought he was going to be more fun than he actually is... we'll see.
The last is the replacement campaign. I'm playing a somewhat insane Yuan-Ti Necromancer who is very attached to his pet cat...that died. Its skull is now his arcane focus (DM gave permission) and is actually a very fun character to play.
I'm starting up Rime of the Frostmaiden again in a few weeks once my wife starts maternity. It's been fun so far, and certainly one of the more engaging published adventures.
If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
Recently I changed jobs to a temporary position that said it would probably, but not necessarily, evolve into a long-term position. Well, I'm at the end of the temporary period now and not getting any more hours. Nobody's said anything to me though.
I told myself I was gonna keep sending out applications while employed here, but I got complacent I guess. Wouldn't be so bad if I had been making good money, but these last couple of weeks I've barely worked at all.
Someone's leaving the company soon, though, so idk if maybe some hours are going to open up or what. Of my previous salvo of applications, one reached out to me but then wanted to last minute reschedule my interview, and I just didn't because I was already in training. So that's probably not a great look for me. I don't know, I'm quietly stressing out.

Been trying to put together a D&D group at my LGS but barely any responses. I told them I intend to launch soon but I mean, one and a half players isn't enough. I do think it's better to kick it off early though, people are more likely to join a running group than one that hasn't started yet. Some quirk of psychology.
The more I pay attention to media the more I realize how totally inept my world-building skills are. I think as a DM, I need setting guides.
Let me add my two cents by saying Ravenloft is the best campaign setting.
Signal boosting Ravenloft. I'm a sucker for gothic horror and dark fantasy, so the instant I learned about Van Richten's Guide, I snapped that book up quick. By far my favorite content for the moody atmosphere, subtlety, and multifaceted nature of the setting.

I am long out of the job-hunting game, so take this for what it's worth, but to me that's not a good look for them
The more hoops a company tries to make prospective employees jump through before even hiring them, the less likely they'll be worth working for in the first place
