Okay, somewhat related to yesterday’s question, online games or in person games and why?
So far, I have only ever played D&D in person. I was at one point involved in a forum game of Pendragon a few years ago which went alright before it just ran out of steam. I actually wouldn't mind looking into getting in to some online D&D at some point.

I like in-person games more. That being said, alot of my friends live in different states now, so online is our only option to play together. I do like alot of the tools that services like Roll20 offer, especially maps, so if I ever put together a gaming setup I will likely incorporate a screen in some way to make use of those tools even for in-person games.

I like the flexibility of having in person games but then being able to run them online if needed for scheduling. I think online platforms def help me a lot as a DM when players can't make it due to transportation or other issues with commuting.
Preference is in person. It's funny or maybe it makes sense that in "real job" space I much prefer online meetings to in person, maybe because online business is conducted with less pomp (meals, happy hours) and that gives me more time for gaming in person.
My main game though is a hybrid of in person and virtual presence. Folks who can be physically present do so and we set up a cam and big monitor for the rest of the group who can't. It works, though I'm not sure why but for some reason I wind up standing up for the whole session, I guess it allows me to keep eye contact with everyone and the camera more easily, it wasn't a conscious thing, just something I started doing.

Jander Sunstar is the thinking person's Drizzt, fight me.
Since I got into dnd as a pandemic hobby, I have rarely, if at all, played in person dnd. However, I can definitely see it being easier than online dnd, since WiFi issues, computer trouble, and audio issues wouldn't matter. It would also be easier for my players to see the board and understand what is happening.
However, online dnd is a lot easier to schedule and I am able to play dnd with people who live in different locations. Playing dnd online has allowed me to connect weekly with family members I used to see twice a year at most. It helped me keep in touch with a friend who moved to another state. So, while playing in person might be easier, I like playing online better because it allows me to play more dnd.

Definitely in-person. While I like game time to be focused on game time, it IS a social event and nothing compares to actually being with other people around the table, moving minis, rolling dice, sharing reactions to game events in person.
I've played online a few times, and while it's better than not playing, it just wasn't anywhere near as fun for me.
Echoing what most people have said: in-person is the most fulfilling experience, but I'm very grateful for online play (as my two current games attest).
Sigh. I was hoping we didn't need this thread any more, but apparently not...
I am 100 percent in the in-person camp. Video or Discord voice/VTT are fine, but doing it live so people can freak out with you when you roll that miracle 20 just adds to the experience

I have all 3 of my jobs to deal with today, lol. Fortunately, I am wholly home based office and can multitask once I finish my potion of caffeine…

Thank you for starting this thread. I actually am finally starting Acq Inc this week. Super excited about it.

In person, definitely in person. Unfortunately it’s been online lately due to circumstances.

Not me. My work blocks all gaming sites. So it's only answering during lunch (I work from home and use my personal laptop) or after work hours.
Not at work currently, but if I’d heard about the free adventure earlier I would’ve logged in earlier while I was at work.
Same here
Same.
