So I ran Sunless Citadel and the party full on adopted poor lil Meepo, and he joined them in clearing out the depths of that dungeon and left with them when they left, being ostracized from his clan.
In the next campaign my brother took over as GM and when my Celestial Warlock met an inglorious end in a pit trap and I needed a replacement character concept in a hurry and I remembered that little Reptile was out there making his way adventuring.
Meepo (the Magnificent) Wyrmheart is now level 11, 3 in rogue and 8 as a trickster Cleric to a mysterious being known only as the Traveler and has consumed the heart of an adult white dragon :) We're almost at the end of the Adventure (DoIP extended materials) and I'm going to be so sad to put this character sheet down....
Excellent story. When I played in the Sunless Citadel (the 5e Tales from the Yawning Portal version), my party befriended Meepo and stuck with him throughout the adventure. This was my second time playing D&D, and so thinking of Sunless always brings back good memories and makes me wonder whether I would have stuck with the game if I had participated in a different, less new player friendly adventure.
Out of curiosity, was Meepo a DMPC or a regular Play Character in your group?

BoringBard's long and tedious posts somehow manage to enrapture audiences. How? Because he used Charm Person, the #1 bard spell!
He/him pronouns. Call me Bard. PROUD NERD!

I brought a kobold (lvl 10 Fighter BM / lvl 4 Rogue Thief) into an online game from some of my City of Heroes friends, and at first the reception was a bit chilly.... but they warmed to Tucker over time.
I conceived him as a kind of dungeon sherpa-- he has Chef, and makes their meals something exquisite. He's also become fairly useful in combat. While he can't match the damage output of our Tabaxi Rogue or our Barbarian (RIP), he works great in clutch with teammates, defending them and deviling our enemies.
