I could have sworn I responded to this or another similar comment, that also began with "Yo!". Anyway. I am probably in the minority, but I am 100% against DM's who hide their rolls. I understand that they want things to happen the way they do, but that's tough. You have to prepare for things not to go as planned. Re-rolling monster saves and hits is just wrong. If they lie about the results, then it is worthy to "fire" the DM because he can't be trusted.

That is a hard reality game take on die rolling. I have nothing against it at all. If the game starts that way then let it continue that way. If you die from a close roll well make another character and wait until it can be introduced. But the vast majority of people want that extra chance to live or get out of a TPK. How many dragons would run away after dropping most of the party and only have one guy left? You would not stop the fight in his place so why would he stop his fight and let you live? With a hidden fudged roll the player lives and the dragon dies and no one knows if a fudge happened.
