Or they're just practical individuals who look at this as a business enterprise.
That's what I said.
Are you seriously arguing that the overall corporate mindset isn't as cold, alien and terrifying as Cthulhu himself? Frankly, I have nothing against the poor, mindless drones who slave away at corporate offices. Hell, I know a few. They have an endearing way to ironically distance themselves from moral decrepitude of their overlords, and the sheer 40k-esque grey, sludgy drugdery of it all. It's both kinda cool and kinda funny. But it's still awful and sad.
I'm sure you're aware that corporations still your personal data, and everything that's ever been published either in text or video (as long as it's on the internet somewhere). I'm sure you know that corporations do absolutely anything they can to push cost down and prices up. There is a very real disconnect between production cost and purchase price, they charge as much as they conceivably can, in part because of a lack of competition, moreso because of pricing cartels. In essence, prices are made to drain you of your hard earned cash, siphoning every penny you earn back into the corporate machine.
You wanna defend that? Sure. Ok. They're just, what did you say, 'practical people doing business'.
Capitalism does, indeed, suck. Communism sucks much, much worse. Unfortunately humans have been shown to be exceedingly greedy and really only respond well to, "What's in it for me?". And yes, we all like to think individually we rise above that. History shows collectively we do not.
I certainly understand why people don't like a la carte purchases being removed and wish that had not come to pass (100% in favor of it being brought back!), but the whole moral high ground thing around it is a bit much. Of course the corporation is going to try to maximize profits - it's why corporations exist and expecting anything else is naive. And the 'cold, alien, terrifying' comment? Drama on if that's your thing. Then go out and buy the things that corporations produce that you need to live, along with a few things you just find fun if you have some money left over after. Or buy individual craftspeople produced things if you prefer that. Wonderful thing to do if you can afford it. In fact there are a WEALTH of things you can buy on DMsGuild for DnD if you want to support the little guy.

I'm pretty sure my argument wasn't 'let's all be communists instead.' And anyways, I'm not sure we should be discussing politics here, I think that was infractions lie. Even if, arguably, I started it. I didn't mean to. Just poking a bit of fun at corporations.

Blanket disclaimer: I only ever state opinion. But I can sound terribly dogmatic - so if you feel I'm trying to tell you what to think, I'm really not, I swear. I'm telling you what I think, that's all.
The "discount" they offer is max 10 dollars off. I've purchased most of xanathars guide to everything piecemeal as I couldn't afford the whole book in my budget and now I can't afford it again... they also will not refund the previous a la carte purchases.

The last point is not exactly new; they’ve never done refunds for Beyond purchases iirc, so that’s just a continuation of the status quo.
It is just time to separate ourselves from the things we are not willing to accept and let the market sort it out, wotc is banking on futures and until they reap what they have sewed they will not change; we will only get what we accept.

What's not new is the reneging on the offer of discounting future purchases based on what you buy now. If it's truly the case that they're refusing to honour past piecemeal purchase discounts above $10, then a refund is entirely reasonable thing to expect.
Has anyone else had an issue of the limits of $10 on discounts? Or is there an announcement somewhere?

What was it like before the marketplace change? I have never purchased piecemeal so I don't know, but I imagine that there is a certain basement dollar value that is reserved for the compendium. Could that explain this $10 limit?
Prior to the change every penny spent before tax was credited towards the book price after any bundle discounts, the only caveat was a $1.99 minimum purchase price in the old store.
ETA: the piecemeal credits were also deducted from sale prices too.

So, I followed up with Customer Support about this, and we realized there was a miscommunication in what you were told. To clarify, the discount amount is based on the amount previously spent on the product. There is no maximum discount limit on completing your piecemeal purchase.
Customer Support will be reaching out to you about your discount via your submitted ticket to get that solved for you!

I took a short break from dnd, came back, made a new character and leveled him up, then proceeded to spend 30 legal minutes trying to find out why tf I couldn't just buy the swashbuckler class for my character. The idea that I have to spend a minimum of $30 just because I want one subclass is absolutely outrageous.
I bet the change was made so that people can't buy just singular features from the new PHB, as it's meant to be a package deal that replaces everything it updates. Still kinda sucky that they got rid of the option overall rather than just not make it available for the new books.
Too little, too late. I'm glad people are getting a proper discount now but the last person I engaged with was rude and dismissive only when I replied on here and it got seen was anything done. I really like the look of the new kobold press book and I will be looking at where to buy it so WOTC don't get any of my money.
