WHy the 2 months gap between each books release?...
Whats the logic behind it?...
Easier on physical logistics chains, gives people who can't afford to drop a billion dollars all at once for the new book set a chance to stagger their payments. Gives each book a spot in the limelight, rather than all three fighting with each other. A number of reasons, most of which deal with marketing.
I like hte 2 month split, gives me plenty of time to absorb the information in the PHB before i need to start adding infro from the DMG in there
I must admit, this is not the type of discussion I expected to see when I got home. I was expecting people to be talking about the content of the video :/
Potions as a bonus action is ok, not something that was a problem in the circles I play in but not an unwelcome change.
I am a little surprised about the Backgrounds, but I will need to see an example and see if a Custom option is included. Right now it seems kinda mid.
The Psionic subclasses not only being added but updated is very exciting to me.
I look forward to seen the end result of the 3 new subclasses. I do have to admit that there is something off putting about the art for the Circle of the Sea. I don't have any idea what it is that bothers me about it, but its cursed.
I really like the idea of Heroic Inspiration.
I want to know more about the crafting rules. I know a couple players that are constantly wanting to make stuff so better rules will help me a lot.
ALL of the DMG is exciting to me. If it weren't for what I learned from my dad, I would never have been able to DM. The current DMG just isn't useful.
I guess those are the things that I am most interested in. Other than Warlock. I NEED to know what happened to Warlock.
Am i the only one that thinks this is just another attempt at the DND one Garbage? I mean I've been playing dnd 40 years. This is the worst iteration of rules i've ever seen/read.

I only see people saying Legendary bundle gets the discount. Doesn't the Sourcebook bundle discount apply to the new sourcebooks too?
any digital purchase including the all digital bundle gets the discount, the physical/digital bundle does not get an addditinal discount. (your already getting the digital for jsut$10 anyway)
No, no advanced access. Just putting together bits and pieces from what they've released and what i can glean from content creator reviews. Which I will admit is mostly speculation. But if its anything like what we've seen through DnD One playtests and Unearthed Arcana... its not great.
In the end I'm an old crotchety bastard and i don't like change in the things I love. I mean I'll be happy if I'm just flat wrong on this. But from what i gather this re-write kills a number of class abilities, feats, and options then introduces watered down sub par version of their previous self all in the name of change. On top of it all, is it really worth $180?

You're misunderstanding me. The old bundles in the old store promised discounts on future books. I see people saying the Legendary bundle still gets their 15% discount but not that the Sourcebook bundle getting their 10%. So I am asking if it's only the Legendary bundle that still gets their discount honored or if the people who bought the Sourcebook bundle get their discount honored too.

The sourcebook and adventure discounts are meant to apply as well.

Thank you for the info. I'll use that link to customer support when I buy the new books then.

There are elements of 5e folks have been complaining about for the past decade. Fewer character choices. Martial classes having linear in-combat choices and very few out of combat options. Some classes being completely unbalanced.
Now that Wizards is trying to address those concerns, people are complaining about the game. Especially content creators - which, of course they are. If you have followed the news for the past year or so, there have been several high profile whistleblowers revealing the tech industries’ algorithms promote negative content more than positive as outrage engines are more addicting and sells better than honesty does. And that is not even getting to the darker reason some of those content creators are trying to galvanize the public against the first iteration of D&D to actively tackle the racism Gary Gygax intentionally injected into the game.
But, hey, using incomplete information and relying more on YouTube than facts is kind of the modus operandi of the D&D community.
The reality? Right now, the books are not out. Personally, I am optimistic enough to preorder - I like that they have said they are trying fix some specific problems I have always had with 5e (not to mention fixing organizational problems that have existed in every edition of D&D), and the playtest content has been trending in a way I find positive. I also am quite pleased that the systems will have compatibility - having lived through edition changes, I would much rather see a revised rule set than a true edition change.
And, of course, if you are less optimistic, you do not have to preorder - you can wait until you have a chance to review the rules in their final form before deciding to purchase. But, for the love of Pelor, make that decision based on your own observations and actual data, not based on anything said by some content creator with a financial interest (and far too often racist interest) in pushing negativity.
I am ok with the Backgrounds as presented, but I am VERY happy that there are rules for customizing backgrounds in the DMG at least.
Yeah. I’m a little disappointed that they moved away from custom backgrounds being the default. I imagine it’s for balance reasons, but still. I’ll be curious to see what the DMG says, hopefully it will let us understand their thinking, even if we basically have to reverse-engineer the rules they present to figure it out.

Do I NEED the PHB 2024, if i still have the PHB 2014?
