Weird question, I got the Baldur's Gate Gazetter because it was free and I'm a gremlin, but now whenever I look at backgrounds in the character creator, everything is doubled and its really annoying. Any way to un-own it?

I wouldn't delete it, as you can select which books you use for Character Creation. Also I would honestly just be asking about what sounds like a bug you are experiencing, as I own everything, and do not have any repeated backgrounds. There are a few with similar names from the Decent to Avernus/Baldur's Gate material, but those are different than the similarly named backgrounds.
I think you have homebrew or something because I have that, and most books, and not a single background is doubled. The only time I've ever had a background doubled was when I made a homebrew copy.

I am wondering if they are talking about the different Backgrounds with similar names. If so, I am confused why they want them removed because the BG versions give an extra feature. Powerful in games where the DM uses Background Features.
I assumed that isn't what they're talking about because the names are different and provide different things.

Example:
Criminal/Spy
Criminal - Baldur's Gate
This is exactly it. The image linked shows that it has the sometimes similarly named Baldur's Gate backgrounds as well.
To the original poster: They are technically different feats, not duplications.
I know its not a big deal, its just annoying and I want it to go away. I make a lot of characters
While similar, they are different backgrounds, also when 2024 PHB is released, these backgrounds will both be moved to Legacy Backgrounds. The BG ones might stay though, as they are technically the more recent, and the Decent to Avernus is technically a recent enough campaign to not be put into legacy when the new material is released.
Regardless of the Baldur’s Gate details, can you remove a sourcebook from your library?
You take a chance on stuff, and sometimes you don’t like it. Fine. It shouldn’t be an actual burden thereafter if you don’t want it, though.
Case in point: I *hate* the wildly unbalanced and thematically mid material that came in Grimhollow Player’s. I will never allow it in my campaigns, and it just clogs up menus with its crappiness. I also don’t want to have to deselect it every damn time I make a new character, campaign, etc. I resent that WotC hyped the hell out of this subpar promoted content, but the least they could do is let me free myself of it now that they have my money.

You can't, but you also don't need to deselect it every time you make a character. Just turn it off in your defaults (My Characters -> Settings button) and it will be turned off by default in the future.
