Was looking at plane shift and realized the conjuration image is no longer that bright yellow box but a slightly darker amorphous circle. When did that change?
It happened today, presumably as part of the release of the new sourcebook Arcana Unleashed, which includes the new symbols (most prominently on the alt cover, but also in various other places).
I really like them, though I wish they'd kept the old ones for legacy spells, to make the distinction easier. But I suppose that would have been too annoying to program. :D
This is frustrating as I had just prepared a puzzle for this week’s game that involved the symbols and players using DnD beyond to match the symbols/schools with spells to draw a sigil. But it’s cool WotC, just change things for no reason.

Surely they don't need to use DDB specifically to solve the puzzle? Given that DDB wouldn't be in-character knowledge, you could just give them the old icons as a reference?

The symbols didn't change that much, it's still the same icons just drawn differently.

Improvement is definitely subjective lol, but thanks for the source (Im not say saying you said it was an improvement, kinda just ripping on the WoC)

Anyone know where the old symbols are, if they appear in any 5e books?
