A boycott of...the entire state of California? Well, to each their own.
Wizards of the Coast is based in the Seattle area, so you should be fine.
Ah, thank G-D for that and thank you for telling me. At least I got one thing that is positive going for me right now.
Yeah, it is going to be a lot of effort but they passed law last night which negatively affects people of my minority in a very major way. I won't go into the details. If you want to know DM me or ask me on Discord.
I feel like something important must have slipped through the cracks in my feeds. I'm all about the moral compulsion to turn out in support for the vulnerable and oppressed, so I try to stay apprised of new laws that target the marginalized and help out where and how I can. But I'm not seeing anything about new such legislation in California, nor any calls for boycotts. The most prominent news I'm seeing about a new law is just the child marriage ban, which is an unambiguous win and not the sort of thing I'd expect to stir up boycott talk.
At any rate, as wagnarokkr said, WotC is headquartered in Seattle, so no worries there. But I seem to recall at least some staff work primarily remote, so that may introduce some uncertainty depending on how ardent your commitment to boycott is. I'm also not sure about third-party content creators/publishers or companies that manufacture dice, minis, and other accessories.

Yeah the only recent laws I can find are the child marriage ban, a ban of "shock gloves," a prohibition of the sale of single use vapes, a bill targeting hidden fees of concert and sports tickets, and fining hospitals that fail to promptly alert the next of kin when a patient dies. These seem neutral at worse.
You're going to "boycott California"? I'm not sure I understand what you mean by that. So you're not going to support any company headquartered in California, that you made clear. But will you also abstain from watching any movies or tv shows? Because they're all either made in CA or made by companies HQ'd in CA. And you will also stop buying literally anything at all from anywhere in Asia, because everything from Asia enters the US at the Port of Los Angeles, which is in CA. And I hope you're not typing your boycott notice on an Apple computer or cellphone, because Apple is a California company. And you also won't be allowed to Google anything, or watch any YouTube videos, because that's also a California company. And you won't be able to take a Lyft or an Uber anywhere, because they're both California companies too. You can't watch Netflix. You can't watch Disney. You can't play World of Warcraft, which includes the new D&D crossover product. You can't eat at Taco Bell, or Chipotle, or IHOP, or the Cheesecake Factory. You can't shop on eBay. You can't wear Levi's Jeans. You can't play with Mattel toys. You can't drink Monster energy drinks. You can't play Nintendo.
Look, if you want to boycott California, that's your decision. I'm just sayin' . . . good luck.

I don't want to get into it but I am getting more messages than I can keep up with. It is a sensitive topic but the California became the first place on Earth to define Jews strictly as a racial ethnicity by policy of law since the Nazis had. They made no mention or inclusion of the religion as a defining trait to divide out those who are from families with converts or adoptions or anyone else who doesn't have the defining racial traits in the law.
From the Holocaust Museum, "The Nazis defined Jews by race, not religion. They claimed that Jews belonged to a separate race. They also claimed that Jews were inferior to all other races. The Nazi definition of Jews included people who did not practice Judaism.", https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/nazi-racism
Gavin signed it into law last night. Most of us don't know what to do and we're nit the voices you're going to hear on the news. No, we have Tucker Carlson pestering the US to Israel Ambassador about the race and Jews instead. This is humiliating dehumanizing and utterly embarrassing. I don't even know how to respond or act if I am being transparent.

We were discussing it all. I already canceled Paramount + (and I did like Star Trek) and Netflix. I still got HBO but I'm going to have to ignore Hollywood movies for non-California studios. I am most upset about YouTube because I liked YouTube. But what else am I supposed to do. I don't want to support their economy if they're going to strip me of my religious identity to enforce their racist perception of Jews by policy of law. Honestly, I am open to suggestions but if black people did it to the south to achieve their equality then we can do it to the west.
Good luck, but I’d like to remind you that most produce made in America is produced by California farms so if live in the states you better make sure that farm isn’t in California
The D&D Beyond forums are not really a place to discuss the law or politics. In the interest of simmering down tensions and preventing misinformation, and sticking strictly to fact not questions of politics, I wanted to provide this brief answer to help alleviate folks’ concerns. It does appear you are getting information on the new California law wrong.
The new law defines the Jewish people as an ethnicity in the context of government ethnic classification systems. It is additive, not subtractive - nothing in this law takes away the identity based on religion, which was already very much established, it merely acknowledges that there is an ethnicity component also, and existing classifications based on ethnicity now reflect that.
The goal in this law - which was sponsored by a Jewish state senator - is a increasing rights and identification by allowing easier access to things like holidays, allowing folks to identify as Jewish on government databases (instead of just choosing “white” or another ethnicity), adding additional protections within prisons, and a whole number of other things.
Importantly, the law does not define Jews as a race, but as an ethnicity. Presumably, this will be treated similar to Hispanic on government records - Hispanic individuals are typically identified in government records by their race (White) with a subcomponent for ethnicity (Hispanic). This is plainly apparent from the law’s text, which carefully uses “ethnicity” not “race.”
Happy to discuss more over direct message if you want a legal perspective, but, overall, it looks a lot like you’re boycotting something that expands rights for reasons that are simply inaccurate.

I live on the east coast now. They don't ship it this far and most that produce actually comes from a much better place, Mexico. Man, I would 100% be a Mexican. Great country.

The law defines ethnicity and race by the same inclusive traits such as color. Since that is a defining trait care to let us know what color a Jew needs to be by law to identify as Jewish now; or we just going to ignore that trait and go for what hair they have which is also a included trait? Religion is never once brought up in the policy. If they were intended to be separate then they would have made them separate and had different inclusive traits. That isn't what was done. What they did was define them together by the same traits. It should be a dead give away what is going on since California is the only place on Earth to deny Jews of the right to self-determination to define Jews this way since the Nazis did.
The law was sponsored by someone who may have been Jewish at one time but they converted a long time ago opening a Greek Fraternity House which has continuously been in trouble for racially discriminating against both Jews and non-Jews. The story of Hanukkah covers this verbatim as the Hellenist also put themselves under Greek Letters opening Greek Houses and claimed to be racially or ethnically Jewish. The Maccabees overthrew them as Gentiles which is how they are referenced in the Book of Maccabees due to adopting Greek Culture in place of their own and creating policies which refused to recognize Judaism as a religion restricting the free practice of it. Since the religion which the holidays are a part of was never once mentioned nor is an inclusive trait claiming it is to provide easier access to Jewish holidays is bogus. If anything it will make obtaining holidays off harder because it will be used in other cases to determine a definition of a Jew such as a discrimination case where the boss refuses an employee their holiday claiming they are ethnically or racially Jewish and the employee is religiously Jewish which isn't included.
Bringing up the instead of checking white is also an issue because now many will use "I'm racially Jewish.", as a stick to beat other minorities with as they claim some such about the Holocaust despite endorsing the same attitudes. American Slavery and the Holocaust are not comparable and because someone went through one doesn't mean they have the right to pick on or deny involvement in the other. They're just trying to use their Jewish "ethnicity" defined by the same inclusions as race to excuse their white guilt.
To close this was the statement they gave while celebrating, “Under the shadow of Nazi race theory, American Jewish leaders asked the government to count us only as a religion,” he said. “That was an understandable attempt at self-preservation, and it didn't work," he stated. "Our community was mischaracterized and misunderstood, and we were excluded from inter-ethnic coalitions and the data that shapes policy.”, so clearly they believe Nazi Race Theory was just misunderstood and the Allies who fought the Nazis as well as the Survivors had mischaracterized Jews. Actually everyone mischaracterized Jews because again California is the only place on Earth to have done this since the Nazis did. I'm going with the Allies and rest of the world on this one to say that no California just misunderstood what Nazism is and mischaracterized Jews in the same way the Nazis had.
P.S. - The Kennkarte was also only voluntarily for the first year. No other religious community is being treated this way. Only Jews are being called out by law. If it was really about discrimination then there are other religious minorities who face their own issues making the policy un-American. You know the saying, "Walks like a duck, looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it's a duck."
I'm sorry, I thought there was some game-related motivation behind this post. But once anyone compares anyone else to the Nazis, I nope right out. This is really not the place for that discussion. Sorry.

Nope, just some civil rights stuff. If I knew how to delete the post from my phone I would since I already have my answer. It got a little out of hand. I was trying to to engage but then people disrespected my wishes to DM me and just posted here. No reason for you to apologize. You did nothing wrong.
D&D, WOTC, Beyond and all that are based out of Washington correct?
I am joining a boycott of California and want to make sure I can still enjoy my favorite game.
