Probably Goodberry so I’d never have to buy food again, Guidance so I’d be better at everything that I do, or Prestigitation to quick clean everything instead of having to clean by hand, not to mention warming or cooling myself to be comfortable everywhere.
I'm fine with at-will for any of them for this exercise.
Comprehend Languages...oh man, that one would be cool. Better than Unseen Servant? That's tough.
Find Familiar I thought about. If it was an actual animal, I'd be all over that. But a spirit in the shape of an animal? Nah. Mending, though, is another one that sometimes I would love. Just broke my favorite bowl? Mending!
For my Cantrip I'd go with Shape Water. Just today I was thinking "If I could cast Shape Water, I could make myself ice cream, whenever I want, just by freezing my iced tea." xD
As for my 1st Level spell, I'd either go with Disguise Self, or Heroism. I have social anxiety, so turning myself into someone else, or giving myself some courage sounds very useful. xD

That's a fantastic use.
Now I'm envisioning D&D therapists, and how you could legitimately use magic to help with things like anxiety, depression, etc. As a replacement for medications, for example. That would actually be a cool character background--an academic and spellcaster who used their powers to help people in these ways. Cleric or Bard, Mystic. Psionicist if they ever make one. I like it.

Oh, I like that. :D
Another spell that would be helpful for that (not 1st Level) would be Calm Emotions. You could (at least for a short while) stop someone's panic attack and help them to calm down.

Absolutely. Even Friends might work well with some DM leniency. When the spell ends, the person knows you used magic to influence them, and the description says they become hostile. But if you used it to befriend someone who was about to harm themselves, and convinced them not to, would they necessarily be 'hostile' towards you later, as the spell calls for? If you used the spell to help them, I might allow them to not be hostile later once they realize it.
I think I might take some free time to roll this character up this weekend. Always good to have a cool backup character. (EDIT: After some thought, I'm thinking a Kalashtar Redemption Oath Paladin with this background could be a pretty cool character. A Kalashtar would be great as a therapist, and Oath of Redemption is thematically what I'm thinking of here. Maybe take Magic Initiate or start with a level of Wizard to get some of these therapy spells.)
I work in healthcare... I would kill (and then stabilize) anything for Spare the Dying

You don't know what fear is until you've witnessed a drunk bird divebombing you while carrying a screaming Kobold throwing fire anywhere and everywhere.
It's hard to argue with any of the healing spells. But if if I didn't have to worry about being a good person I'd probably select Comprehend Languages. It would be wonderful to travel, talk with people, and see the world without communication barriers.
Had it been 9th level allowed then True Polymorph.
I honestly hate my body so a permanent solution to that would be ideal. I like the flexibility of the spell and have no need for using it more than once a day especially since an hour concentration makes it permanent anyway.
Otherwise Disguise Self for a level 1, Alter Self for a level 2. Mostly same reasons in general.
But Comprehend Languages only let's us understand people. We'd need Tongues to be able to communicate both ways unfortunately. Other than that I like your thinking!
That's the setup: you have one cantrip or 1st level spell, any class, that you would get to cast at will in the real world (as a 1st level caster).
Which one is it?
Sometimes, when I'm feeling lazy...it would be Unseen Servant.
Looking for new subclasses, spells, magic items, feats, and races? Opinions welcome :)

Prestidigitation, guidance, goodberry, and unseen servant, all sound good. So for level 1 spells, only twice per day unless rituals?
Let me go through the list... Mage hand, mending, minor illusion, comprehend languages, create or destroy water, cure wounds, disguise self, find familiar, and sleep. I can imagine a few good (lazy/selfish (not illegal)) uses for any of these.
I'm fine with at-will for any of them for this exercise.

Primal Savagery and Sanctuary. The ability to never be attacked, and if you are, to claw at them as if you were a Monster? Yes please!
Extended Signature! Yay! https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/off-topic/adohands-kitchen/3153-extended-signature-thread?page=2#c21
Haven’t used this account in forever. Still a big fan of crawling claws.
Heal headache. Having trouble finding it in the compendium, though.
Heal because then I could do some real good in the world.
edit: Whoops, cantrip or 1st level...gotta think.

Minor Illusion, then I would never have problems describing looks or sounds.
There are so many.
I'd go with Speak with Animals. I could just talk to animals at the zoo or aquarium and everyone would think I was an animal whisperer or something.
I thought about that one too. I'd be worried only that the results might be underwhelming...

Charm Person would be fun. Chromatic Orb would also be fun if I get mad.
