Just wondering, when will the Essentials Kit be released in Australia? I have heard from sources (not sure how reputable they are hence why I am here) that the Targets in Australia may not have the Essentials Kit by the end of June and instead the Kit will be released in hobby stores in September as usual. Could any fellow Aussies confirm this statement?

My FLGS—which is part of a national chain and has very good relations with the Aussie distributor of all WotC content, among other brands—didn't even know about the Essentials Kit because it just plain wasn't on their upcoming product schedule from the distributor. I've contacted Target Aus and they don't know about it either. So I'm not even sure it will be available in Australia at all. And if it is, I certainly don't know WTF to get it from; I'm sure that, regardless of what eventuates, in one way or another, we'll get screwed like we always do.

Target Australia is indeed a completely different company from the Target Corporation in the US.
Having a quick google, not even the usual US retailers have pre-order information for the Essentials Kit, so it might be that they'll be getting info nearer the September release date.
Yeah, thanks for the replies guys. Just checked today on the Target online store, they didn't have the Essentials Kit - in fact, they didn't even have anything D&D related that I could find. Pity. Australia will be Australia, I guess. The Essentials Kit will probably arrive in Australia sooner or later, if not by September, so I'll probably look to buy it by Christmas or next year around this time.
I mean, the hobby stores around here aren't that bad. Ghosts of Saltmarsh turned up in my local Good Games the day it released, so I think they should still be getting the products before the release date.

I couldn't find it to pre-order in the US either, however, today was the drop day for it so we can purchase it in the US (I plan to stop in tomorrow and grab it on my way to work).

I just want to tell everyone "happy gaming" and actually mean it. Whatever your game is, just have fun with it, it is after all, just a game.

The core books like GoS are from WotC's distribution channels. The sets like the Stranger Things and Essentials Kit are from Hasbro's distribution channels. Even stores like GUF, Good Games, and Mind Games who get board games through Hasbro seem to be having difficulty even finding this to order from their distributors. So, yeah, I wouldn't count on it.

Fair, though I also did note that the store I went to also had Stranger Things when I visited, which wouldn't have been over 1 month after it was released, so fingers crossed if this can be the case with the Essentials Kit too. Generally the bigger stores (for example ones in the CBD) have more products, and may have more luck - not visiting the city anytime soon for Good Games or the such, so I'm probably just going to sit tight till Christmas.

Hey there, I know this post is nearly a month old but i've been searching for the same thing, i've found a few online stores that supply it to australia (that reside in australia),
Obviously the Physical stores (Good Games and EBGames) will both stock the Essentials kit in stores that sell these items, so if your looking for an instore option and dont have any FLGS around (Like me in Gladstone QLD) then these are your best bet.

It should be released worldwide for everyone on September 3rd, 2019! I would check with your local FLGS/retailers to be sure.

Target Australia is an unrelated company to the American Target from what I understand.
I expect the Essentials Kit will be pushed worldwide at the start of September, if it performs well as a product in America.

Good news. I was just able to pre-order the kit at GUF.

That's great! Pity though on the latest article by James he mentioned the DM screen isn't as sturdy. Still should be good, I am inclined to believe.

Is it my imagination, or are they all preorders for the September release/end of Target USA exclusivity date?
