Do the D&D Basic Rules on this website get augmented when you purchase the Player's Handbook? I'm intending on running my first campaign as a DM and I would like to have my players use the D&D Basic Rules if they do not own the Player's Handbooks, but it's a bit hard for me to determine what they should refer to - as the main Dungeons and Dragons website lists the original Basic Rules (with the limited options) but the Basic Rules on D&D Beyond as I see it has all PHB race and class options, as far as I can tell.
All the basic rules are in the player's handbook, dungeon master's guide and monster manual where applicable. The BR has all the races from the PHB, plus all the base classes and one subclass each.
When you purchase the PHB, you'll get a separate 'book' to access.
I am not entirely sure what your question is. I have heard that the basic rules available from WotC had fewer class and race options, aside from that they have the same rules (I think).

The Basic Rules available on D&D Beyond are a combination of the Basic Rules and SRD, both published by Wizards of the Coast for free.
Your players will be perfectly able to play the game using those rules. :)
