Hey, sorry to keep bothering you guys, but since google's being an itch, I guess I have to ask you.
Does any one of you have an idea for a good mechanic nickname? Google and co just keep giving me names like grease monkey or wrench jockey which may be decent enough nicknames for the profession, but I need one for an individual. My female scholar (by kyle grant. if you haven't heard about it, check it out, it's awesome) to be specific. She's going to be an inventor and I want a nickname that fits that profession, but I can't find or come up with anyhing. So I guess I have to rely on you guys^^
Thank you all in advance for reading and an awesome day to you all.

From an historical perspective you could go with "Rosie Parker". Rosie from the Rosie the Riveter poster (from WW2) and Parker from Naomi Parker, the model for the poster. Or maybe "Maggie Knight". In 1868 she invented the machine that makes the flat-bottomed paper shopping bags that we still use today. She also held 87 other patents.
Also, you didn't mention the race of your character. Many inventor-types are gnomes. If she's a gnome, simply throw two darts at a map of Australia. You'll get an infinite supply of quirky steampunky names. Seriously. It works. - "Sheila Kalgoorie" - "Victoria Ravensthorpe" - "Augathela Dawson" - "Belladonna Cocklebiddy". Australia's weird!
But, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest scholars, inventors, scientists, mathematicians, and philosophers of all time, male or female, was Hypatia of Alexandria. She had the kind of mind that only comes along once every 1000 years. So maybe some almalgamation of her name could suffice.
Granted, none of these ideas necessarily fit in a pure fantasy setting, but I've always figured it's nice to have a bit more meaning behind a name. Of course, you could always go with "Wrenchy McBookface". Please don't.
Have fun!

Thx, that's exactly what I need. Sorry, but sometimes my brain just gives out. Also it's probably easier for a native speaker to come up with this stuff I'd pressume.

I think most characters from the Matrix have appropriate names. Neo, Cypher, Tank, Axel, Sparks etc. They're modern techie names, but still cool.
