Barbarians are all about dealing and taking big damage. Monks have slightly better mobility and are more geared towards crowd control than pure damage. There's not much to say on social or exploration abilities for either subclass. Neither option is "best". Some players prefer to be Bruce Lee, others prefer to be the Juggernaut.

How is Paladin compared to those guys?
Paladin the the holy master of destruction. Barbarians normally do around the same damage every round, but paladins do slightly less average damage each round, but can nova on one attack. Say you have a level 5 paladin, with 2 attacks with a greatsword, and you crit and smite on one attack. This round you will do around 75 damage. Barbarians normally do around 50 damage per round around the same level. If you have a BBEG, the monk will annoy it. The barbarian will crush it, in a few rounds normally and also take all its hits for a few rounds. The paladin will annihilate it in one round, while blocking all the BBEG's attacks with high armor class.

I respectfully disagree. Barbarian rage. However, that’s my favorite class, so i’m biased. But only because of rage. I like guys that just go crazy and smoosh people.
Im having a hard time picking one of those two classes: Open Hand Monk and Bear Totem Barbarian.
Could you guys tell me more about their:
1- Gameplay Mechanics (Combat, Social and Exploration)
2- Role in party (Dmg or Tank Potential)
3- DPR (How hard can they hit compared to other Classes?)
4- "Fun" features (What motivates you to play these Classes?)
Which one would you say is the "best" overall and why?
1. Combat they have different roles. Barbarian more up front. Monk more supportive.
2. Barbarian is tank/damage. Monk is crowd control/debuff effects/damage
3. monk will fall off mid and late level. Barbarian can hold its own. But neither is a top DPR class.
4. Barbarians can cause scenes to escalate quickly via rage. And good when you need athletics. Monks “can” be useful in a variety of settings, but not as useful as other classes in those settings, just more useful outside combat than a barbarian in most campaign settings.
overall.....................
In my opinion. Monks are horrible between levels 5-13. Just... barely usable compared to literally every other class. Even Beast Master.
1-5 sure. Post 13 sure. But that mid-game. Brutal.
Barbarians... are just a consistent start to finish, you get what you get, kinda thing. Most groups I play with the barb is more fun. My one friend Adam comes up with bizarre and eccentric barbs all the time, with him I’d have more fun with a monk.
I want to roll a class that can dish out good Damage, be Tankish and have simple management (another why I didn't want to roll a full caster for example). Barbarian, Monk and Paladin felt like the best contenders.

If that's the case I'd recommend Bear Totem Barbarian. Pretty much everything you need to keep track of resource-wise is hpw many rages you have and remembering to add rage bonus to damage.
Out of combat I'd say that of those three the barbarian comes out last, though. The paladin makes and excellent leader, negotiator and/or general talky dude. They also have some useful spells that can help with finding clues and deal with people. The monk (especially if you choose the right subclass and race) is an excellent explorer and spy and is in my opinion more all-round in some ways than both the paladin and the barbarian. The barbarians does have their uses outside of combat but doesn't really have that many class-based tools to help out with that.
I'd say Totem Bear, cause the biggest benefit when raging, you are resistant to every single type of damage, except psychic. What is more tanky than that?

Paladins are easy, especially at lower levels, they are one of the best tanks in the game, they are very good at dealing damage, especially when you need them to. Oath of Conquest can basically choose to hit someone once each short rest. You don't get spells until level 2, so you can get a feel for it at level 1, then be able to destroy anything at level 2. Don't worry about spells, you'll be smiting all the time anyway. Their spells aren't complex, mostly support or smite spells.
Barbarians are really good at dealing damage, even better at taking damage (especially totem of the bear), and are very very easy to make and level up, you just have to remember how raging works. They are great tanks, great damage dealers, and simple to manage.
Monks are not great with dealing damage, cannot be good tanks, and aren't too simple. They're easy at early levels, but get progressively more complex at higher levels, and just aren't good enough to match barbarian or paladin.
I personally would recommend paladin, they're simple, have great Armor Class (they can have an AC of 20 at level 2 with chain mail, shield, and shield of faith spell). They deal a lot of damage when you need to, you don't have to waste extra damage on goblins and other small enemies if you don't want to, and all the subclasses are great (except maybe Oath of the Crown, but all paladins are good).
