I really, really didn't mean to start a fight, I'm so sorry! Please don't fight! Really, we can all just forget this post exists if it caused this much of a problem. I was only trying to express my frustration, I really didn't mean to make things worse. I'm sorry!
Don't worry about it too much, people can get saucy about all sorts of things, especially when it's about something near and dear to them.
Also, tell the stories you want to tell. Read the crowd to see how much emphasis that you want to put on any one aspect of your character, but don't feel like you have to not tell part of your story because someone gets all squirmy.
As for the assumption that all of your characters must announce that they are LGBTQ+ before the end of the opening scene, I'm not sure where that came from. I just got that you set up how your characters identify. That identity can play a major impact on who the character is, why they chose to become an adventurer, and any number of other things. The character who is loud and proud will play much differently than the one who follows their friend that they are crushing on into adventure, hoping to at least have a Sam Gamgee moment and hopefully more.
Just know that while you can always be a better person (because we all fall in that boat), you are good enough as you are right now. Little improvements here and there (stop speeding! You don't speed? Move over! Already drive in the correct lane? You know what you can do, so do it!) will keep you there. Don't let the people who are taking out their frustrations in life on others that are different from them make you feel like you are less of a person or even a worse person than they are.
Damn, sounds like you keep falling into the wrong groups, if you keep getting that reaction. I got lucky with my local group; quite a few of us are LGBTQ+ and even those who aren't are pretty accepting of our playstyle.
I hope you find a decent group to play with soon (*˘︶˘*).。*♡
People have opinions too, you can't just ignore their honesty because you consider your own convenience more important. Let them talk and voice their opinions rather then shut them out

I'm not sure if you're referring to the OP or someone else on this thread. If you're referring to the OP, the problem is that the same ignorant opinion keeps getting thrown around by the same ignorant person or persons over and over again, and it doesn't take long to get tired of it, especially when said opinion has no actual value. If you're referring to something else on this thread, *glances behind at raging inferno, then glances back* I think I'm gonna let that rest for a while...
No one's perfect. I'm flawed, you're flawed, and everyone else on this world. No one's going to understand each other's differences by ignoring them. Every opinion has worth if there's a voice behind the opinion. Every voice matters. It just sounds like people are forgetting they are people dealing with other people
In general, sure, but some opinions aren't even worth the paper they're written on. I've mentioned the nazi, right? I wasn't exaggerating about him being a nazi...
(I live in Yakima, Washington. My city is filled to the brim with Nazis. I can't wait to get out of here.)
Everyone just needs to be more excepting and less judgmental of everyone else. I didn't choose autism, you guys didn't choose the way you are. People need to knock it off and realize that the things they say have a big impact on the lives of other people.

@dahhahm, if you're referring to me in your ppsts, I do take into account what the other person is saying when these things come up. Also, to set the record straight, I don't instantly just say "hey, so and so is gay" and shove it on the table at the beginning of the game. Usually, I don't say it at all (though it is listed in a tiny note on the character sheet if anyone cares to look). Most of the time, their actions slowly clue the rest of the group- i.e. other Pcs- in on the fact. For example, Arian, a character still trying to figure out their own identity, really hates gendered things or situations that would force them/him to state their/his gender. By actions within the game, you get to know more about the characters, and its not really made a prominent part. Moreso a side note, unless someone in the group decides to make it a point.

More power to you for whatever character you like to play. Personally, sexuality comes up so little in the campaigns I have played in that more than half the characters mine have interacted with couldn't tell ya which way they swing. In this world we live in, there are a lot more things to life than what holes or lack thereof an individual is interested in. In a fantasy a world where magic and danger is around every corner, probably even less so lol. So in this world or that, do whatever blows your hair back and find a group that will allow you to have the fun you want.

How about romance? Marriage? Family? In our game we were trying to prevent a demonic incursion in Waterdeep and my DM took two canonical (from an older edition) characters who were listed as the heads of a noble family, both men, and just extrapolated that they were married to each other. We didn't go into their sex lives at all, but orientation is more than sex and the romance/marriage/family aspect of character's lives come up all the time, unless ... does no one in your games have families?

Canto alla vita alla sua bellezza ad ogni sua ferita ogni sua carezza!
I sing to life and to its tragic beauty To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!
Come to think of it, I’d say 99% of the time characters I’ve seen are all single. When I DM I don’t really push players to reveal or suppress any romantic tendencies, if they happen they happen. You get the occasional going wenching when back in town after an excursion. I think adventuring wouldn’t be the preferred occupation of a family oriented person. Most groups I’ve been a part of lately have been less of the R and more of the P unfortunately.

So in other words, just like real life...?
