Just returned to the game after 37 years :-) Joined a Friday night group as a player and I’m getting ready to DM for some family members.
I am the only experienced player in my family group. I’m working with the players to create characters. We will probably start out playing live but we may have some remote play fairly soon as well.
As I create the characters with them I am creating them in my D&D beyond account (I upgraded to unlimited characters). I know that I can export a PDF or print out these character sheets but is there a way to IMPORT a character into your D&D beyond account?
For example, if I help my niece create her character on my D&D account, afterwards can I EXPORT it to her and she can import it into her D&D account?
Or vice versa: if we create a character on HER account, can she export it to me and I import it into my account?
All you have to do is create a campaign, create or import the character into that campaign using the join link and then unclaim the character so she can claim it when you give her the join link. :)
Yep thats the gist of it. You create a campaign on dndbeyond, plop that character into it and then unassigned it.
Then have her follow the join game link that is provided on the campaign screen and it will show either make new character or they can select the unassigned character.
As long as that character is still in your campaign (regardless of the characters current owner) you can still make changes on the character sheet when needed.

You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."
