Did I miss something about Portraits and changes? Some of my custom portraits are still there, but many of them are just blank. And by many... probably at least 50 are now blank... Are there new size limitations or did I just get some bad luck? I know it's not all of them, cause I have the 4th ed. Elven Paladin that still shows and some others.
I've been seeing the same trouble for a couple of weeks now. I reported it in the Bugs and Support forum, but the thread was viewed precisely three times before falling off. Clearing your cache/cookies will restore the portraits for all of about ten minutes before they black out again.
It's intensely annoying. Some folks actually go out and buy personal custom artwork for their characters and use DDB to display it; I didn't pay for fancy artz to stare at a black patch, DDB.
Your "Clearing your cache" comment made me remember that I've been having a lot of artifact problems in Chrome. Pulled up Safari and all the portraits are still there. As I wasn't having trouble actually using the Forums, I wasn't even thinking about that. Great. More problems with my preferred way of using DNDBeyond...
This issue is still ongoing for me, years later. With no sign of being fixed.
This isn't years later. This is eight months later. Apparently the problem is Chrome, not DDB, though.
If the issue is Chrome, wouldn't it affect all of the pictures? In my case, only a handful of portraits (as well as frames and backdrops) are loading, with others appearing as blank squares with the broken image icon.

I experience issues with Firefox, Chrome is working fine. My dice don't work either in Firefox currently. I've tried ctrl + f5

I was having the same problem; then I cleared my browser cache and it resolved it and other issues I was having on the site.
There is a much longer thread with the known workarounds and steps (like you must do a hard cache clear) here: Portraits Not Loading - Bugs & Support - D&D Beyond General - D&D Beyond Forums - D&D Beyond (dndbeyond.com)
