I am considering purchasing some of the books on the Marketplace, mainly the Players Handbook, so my group can handle our player characters online. However I am not sure I understand the offers and so I turn to the forums in hope of some of you guys can help me out.
The Marketplace have The Players Handbook and it has several additional purchase options. Does the Players Handbook include the additional purchase options, or do I need to buy everything on the page in order to get access to the actual players handbook?
This is really not clear at all and could do with some re wording. Also, if you subscribe do you get all this stuff or do you still have to purchase every little thing even if you have hard copies of everything already? I can't tell at the moment if there's going to be a pay wall for every new level and step. Already I have a level 1 drow, a hermit and an entertainer background that all want $1.99 each and I haven't even started looking at spells etc! Could there just not be a subscription to get access to everything?

No, subscriptions do not unlock any non-free content. The subscriptions give what they say in their respective descriptions.
For the content, you can either buy things piecemeal or the entire things. If you want the drow and two backgrounds only, you can buy those singularly for 1.99 each. Alternatively, you can buy the entire PHB and unlock everything from the PHB (subclasses, backgrounds, spells and so on).
Or, if you have the time and you own the physical books, you can homebrew the elements you need. (Except for subclasses; homebrew subclasses are planned, but not yet available)
Ok good to know but not really any real benefits to subscribing then to be honest. All purchases are locked to this site and digital version of the players handbook is almost as much as I paid for my hard copy version. If I bought it again I'd then have to sub to pass stuff to my players, as well as planning the campaign. I'm sorry but currently there just seems to be a lot of purchases to make here and worries that once you think you're finally done you turn a corner, someone gets a new spell and suddenly there's another payment to make to continue. I think we might just have to try playing paper and pencil old style for now. Thanks from a slightly disappointed Critter and first time DM.

Just two things (not trying to convince you, just making everything clear for the readers):
Firstly, to share purchased content, a Master Tier subscription is needed, but the owner of said subscription can be anyone, a player or the DM.
Secondly, I don't quite get the sentence "... there's another payment to make to continue.". Once you purchase a digital book, the content of that book is yours; there is no further purchase to be made.

The PHB includes all the options you see on the page. Specific costs for all the options are there for those who want to buy only pieces of the PHB.
Ah great. Thank you so much for clarifying :-)
