This is a bit of an odd one that I have not been able to find the answer for.
So I have had another very generous DM share all of their sourcebooks with me. Some contain items that I want to add to the inventory to my players that I DM for. I want to purchase the use of the that item however I cannot figure out how. As I have access to the sourcebook, I can't get to the page where you can purchase individual parts of a sourcebook (archetype, item, monster etc.). Can anyone help?
My only other option is to recreate the item in homebrew however I really don't want to do that - I'd rather pay for the feature to give to my player. I do intend to buy all of the sourcebooks in time but for now I'm happy just buying the bits I want to use now.
You would have to purchase the sourcebook for your own account. Since the content is shared with you, you are able to use the content because of your DM. If you want to do the same for your players, you would have to buy the sourcebooks.
Like you said, the other option is to homebrew the items/monster/etc yourself, which would be a bit of a hassle.
Thank you for your reply. My problem is I can't seem to get to the page to purchase the sourcebook because I already have access to it (can see it as it is shared). I hope that makes sense...
