I decided to make a Dwarf Forge Cleric for my groups Rime of the Frost Maiden campaign. My current idea is that he is a follower of Moradin (and his pantheon) his clan having been forge masters for a few generations. Through his devote worship to the pantheon he was granted divine power from Moradin (I'm not sure on the specifics). I'm not sure what Dwarven settlement/city he would be from either as I'm not well-versed in the lore, I've tried to look up some stuff but haven't found a whole lot concerning dwarf cities (at least not ruined ones).
So my main question is what would be a potential reason why my dwarf would go to Icewind Dale? It doesn't seem like the kind of place to me that most people would go to willingly unless there was a bigger purpose behind it.
1. Make their quest to find different materials or techniques that he can turn to new metals/alloys. While Icewind Dale may not be a secret location, a place so inhospitable is sure to hold some secrets and among those are no doubt some kind of material or forging technique. For a place so eternally cold as Icewind Dale, they may have some new forging technique that allows them to create despite the extreme temperatures. The specifics can be a conversation with your DM, but the outcome can be the creation of a really cool custom item or something of the like.
2. Reach out to another player in the campaign and collaborate on your backgrounds. Maybe your forge cleric works for/is in service to another dwarvish character? Maybe your character has chosen another adventurer to pair with, with whom they have found some valuable material/technique/whatever?
Oh I like the first idea, I was already thinking of something similar. I hadn't really thought of the idea of different techniques due to the extreme cold.

Rare materials. There are some spoilers about the campaign if I say much more, but rare materials.

Two immediate ways to approach this in my mind:
1. Make their quest to find different materials or techniques that he can turn to new metals/alloys. The Battlehammer Clan literally lives in Icewind Dale, and very close to the Ten Towns region.
