I always wonder about the line between meta-gaming and power gaming. To me, they are two sides of the same coin.
Is the player cheating in the sense they are reading ahead, have played the module before, or are pulling up information about monsters/encounters while at the table when they shouldnt know that information?
Or are they playing a class that is just destroying everything it comes across because they are just building the "perfect" character for them?
As far as rules lawyer... yeah. That one can be tough to get around, especially if it is breaking up the immersion of the game setting.
The DM is definitely out of line for calling you a bully though, maybe there is a social dynamic going on between the two that has them turning a blind eye to the behavior.

Yeah, agree here. Many stories here or on reddit about somewhat toxic gaming tables leave me baffled or even with blood boiling when I read them. I get invested and of course I'd like to see the resolution of the situation :D
Though the OP posted during those couple of days between the holidays and the New Year, there is still chance for a follow up.
Most of the time it seems they are not so much looking for guidance as looking for the answer(s) they want to hear, as some sort of ammunition that they can take to their DM and try to use to bolster their arguments.
Well, the game was tonight and it was dissolved with the DM (and his girl friend, didn't know that) becoming persona non grata at the shop. Turns out the owner does not like it when a customer tries to damage another person's 40k army.
I was at the shop playing a few small games of 40k before D&D. The DM came in an hour early and ask if I was ready to play D&D. Told him that I was going to make it my last time at the table and I would be leaving the campaign. Told me to change my mind, and repeated my "no". He flipped shit and tried to throw my game case holding the majority of my army models across the store. 300 models all Metal army, not easy, didn't go far.
He was escorted out by the owner and told not to come back, and if he did the police would be called. The owner told the other table members if they wanted to continue the campaign they can find another DM, but I would not be rejoining them.
Well there you go then. That guy sounds like a tool anyway.
That’s a lot of pewter, you must have started collecting that one back in the day. What army? (I’m betting Blood Angels. You seem like a Blood Angels person. Or may Necrons.)

Hopefully nothing of your was damaged! On the bright side, there is no question as to who is the ******* is the situation and he solidified your decision as the correct one. Good luck on finding a better DM!
Still live gaming at this time? No concerns about Covid at all??
Right, wrong, or otherwise, I'm not here to throw my opinion on all of it into the ring but I'll say this:
There's A LOT more live gaming, live this and live that than you might realize. Yes, can certainly be "part of the problem", but that's not the point. Point is, lot's of folk are doin' what they do, especially if it's your crew of 6 people you know. By this point, I know quite a few folk that have seen outside air and been among others a handful of times in the better part of a full year, and they are positive for covid. Others that are grinding, out and about and doin' their thing - nothing. For them and those around them.
For many there are priorities greater than covid so I'm not shocked at all that focusing on the mental rather than physical is happening.
Imperial guard. I started that army in late 4th edition I think. The Vostroyans came out when I started playing and fell in love with that army. Been playing them as my main army for around 15 years I think. I also use them in apocalypses games, so I have 3 companies worth of infantry after all this time.
No damage that I could see. I have them in tight fitting foam pointed up. I am due to repaint a platoon anyway. I repaint a platoon every quarter, so I will give every thing a good look over when I start that up this week.

I have relatives working in healthcare - both hospitals and care facilities. That may not be the point, but it certainly is a point. Some people lucking out (and possibly being asymptomatic but infectious!) is cold comfort to others left holding the other end of the stick.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
If I may play devil's advocate, we don't know what conditions are like at the shop, or what precautions are being taken. That said, I certainly hope the OP and their associates remain safe.
I was just ignoring it because the I didn't care to elaborate on how the shop as a whole came together and set up clear PVC dividers between players for RPG games and cleaned after each game, or how we set up rules for table top strategy games, everything is appointment only, purchases are via phone and delivered to the car, fresh gloves and masks 100% of the time, and more.
If you are not having fun just do something else. It is a game, not a job.

I figured that was probably the case. Glad to hear you're safe, and good luck on finding a better table!
