Any word yet on when we may be able to get character sheet viewers on the App or an app for D&D Beyond Character sheets?
Why do you need the sheet in an app? The sheet on the site already adapts to cell phones and tablets, acting like an app. A couple of the players in my group uses the site that way and seem to be generally happy with it.
For offline availability.
Print the sheet? It's the best and most authentic offline tool. You won't even need a charged phone/tablet to play. Offline mode would defeat the purpose of the tool imho, without linking to the complete database of rules and stats.
The simple answer is that typically you get a much better experience in an app than you do in the browser window. The browser solution is solid, and works great, but I much prefer reading the books in the app than the browser. I am excited to see the character app.
Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed it has taken this long. Do I plan to leave DDB over it or discourage someone from buying it? Not at all. Still the best D&D offering out there IMHO. But I know myself and many others would love to hear a bit more than the crickets that have been playing for over a year and lots of promises that it's coming.
Why would it be any different from the layout that took a year to finish? The books are way better in the app, agreed, but a sheet? It would still be basically the same as the one on the site. I don't really understand that you both want a superior layout to the new character sheet that they made included in the app but also are disappointed that it's taking a lot of time.

Except that the app DOES have all the rules. The PDF export is functional, but not ideal. It has well-documented issues. I appreciate all the auto-calculations, cross-linking to rules or spell descriptions, and all the other benefits of digital. There's no reason people can't look forward to having the digital tools accessible offline. You play, updating need changing your sheet as needed, and when you have internet access again, it updates to the cloud and your account on the full website.
Sure, I can play off of a paper sheet - I've done it for 40 years now. But we use DDB because of all the digital bells and whistles.
I like the changes that were made. I really love the Alpha encounter that was added as well. I just noticed the change in spell feature and will use that on my next game. I will show my son as well cause he plays a wizard and will use it more than I do.
Would it be possible to Generate a Name Tent printout. There are various options, and this would be a great feature that NO character program has, currently.

What is a Name Tent ? I'm confused on what you're asking for.

A name tent is a piece of paper with a name on it that can be folded and set at a table showing the name of the person sitting there.
Would it be possible in a future update to include the character portrait in the Character Appearance box on the second page of the exported pdf character sheet?

Nice!
Is there any particular reason why I can't view any of my character sheets?
There do seem to be some ongoing issues. See here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/41152-cant-load-characters
Wow. Awsome update.
Is there a way to get more than 6?
You can subscribe to the Hero Tier (or Master Tier if you want) and get unlimited character slots.

I carry index cards and a Sharpie to conventions...
i really like this!
I actually really like that! I think it would turn out really good being displayed on a tablet.

At higher levels or when you have alot of action options the printed sheet cuts things off. Any way to get this fixed?
Is there a level up-button coming? It would feel more rewarding than choosing edit character and upping the level from there.
