Not to sound like a jerk, but If I don't get a discount or something I would not buy the DVD. If DND Beyond does not provide better quality/ease of use at a reasonable price and or no price. Why would I change to it. My form fillable character sheets work better than this builder have more automation and are faster to use. If they cannot compete on price and product the project will fail like so many other "Official DnD Tools" have failed before. A Lot of people don't want to rebuy the books again and some of us have paid for the tangible and intangible versions once or more already.
Are you guys planning on putting Backgrounds in the homebrew area and allowing it to be put in character sheets?
Backgrounds will be available to homebrew. We are also going to allow "on the fly" custom backgrounds in the builder that allows you to choose any two skills, any two languages or tool proficiencies, and any background feature, as per the rules in the PHB.
It would be nice to have either a specific background for by-the-book bits or for the homebrew bits, just so they're visible at a glance to a DM that's accepting player-made characters. In other words, if you're going to make interesting backgrounds available for homebrew, please make them (all) easy to distinguish from the regular by-the-book background.
Not sure if there was a Thread for it but I wondered when will we have access to the other options within the PHB, like other domains for clerics than life. Have all a nice day.

Licensed WotC material will become available upon launch (later this summer) via paid access.

What about some constructive criticism. What do your sheets better. what could they do to make this as good? And what would you say is a reasonable price ? In my case would pay 50 euro per year if includes all content.

Really looking forward to being able to bring my players over here. We have a mix of manual, online guide, hero lab and pregen and levelling up is a pain.
As a side note: I occasionally feel like I'm the only one who has bought paperback, kindle, audiobook and graphic novel versions of the same book... If i find something I love, I have no problem supporting them.
If it's good, I'll pay for it. If it's like 100 bucks for the whole lot (well maybe more for ALL the adventures)... I spent more than that on my last book buy...
Leveling up a character is not intuitive. Is there a way to provide a notification for after you add a level to the character that indicates you now need to add a level to the class of your choice? It took me a few minutes to figure out why there was an apparent disconnect between my character level and my class level.

I would love a sort of "workflow" for when you Level up (even if it's just reminders of things, like a checkbox for "tips" even when leveling). It could tell you what the normal process is. Leave the ability to turn this "help/workflow" off (like when creating a new character)
choose class to level in, (optionally include a "filter" based on available prerequisites but have the ability to turn this off for homebrewed rules), gain a hit die, increase HP (don't forget your CON modifier), check for ASI/optional feat -- if you have ASI be sure to update any affected ability modifiers, if CON modifier increases be sure to increase HP for each level not just the current, check for new class features, check for change in available spell slots, check for change in amount of prepared spells, check for proficiency bonus increase).
I have posted earlier in this post what could be done better, check boxes and drop down options for everything. Easier and better ways to take and equip the standard starting packages better choices of stats and proficiency for randomly/pre generated characters. The form sheets I use can do all the things I mentioned above and more. As far as price$50-60 a year US may even be too high for a lot of people. If this is not better or comparable to the free things out there right now, why would a majority of people pay to use it. If Hasbro/WIzards does not see the numbers they want it would not be the first time they ditched a digital tool set. I would like to see Curse succeed I like a lot of things they do but right now this project needs a lot of work and waiting until after the beta to add all the stuff is not a wise decision in my opinion. It is like when EQ and WoW would not let people beta test the whole boss fights in their beta and then they wonder why half the Boss Fights in Raids are broke. Beta tests are for beta testing waiting until live to add tons of content could be brutal with tons of things broken or bugged. I'm glad a lot of you have the extra money to spend and don't mind buying the content more than one or 2 times even 3 or 4 but for this to work I'm sure Curse needs more than a couple of hundred people to buy in.

Regarding your "beta testing of the paid content" Firehawk2324 responded to another thread essentially asking the same thing which I thought was about the best answer they could give:
Simple answer? We aren't allowed to "give away" paid content. That's why we are only allowed to test free content. This isn't a choice from Curse. This is a guideline from Wizards of the Coast, and we have to adhere to it. There are plenty of actual bugs out there to squash. We find them on a daily basis. There will continue to be bugs, well after release. That's how things go. Like we've said multiple times, this isn't a video game, and you aren't testing a finished product. We, the community, are helping build D&D Beyond from the ground up, and I, for one, think that's pretty great. I also realize this isn't what everyone is looking for, for many reasons. I'm also not going to try to convince you that this is a good thing, really. The only thing I can do is tell you to check it out once D&D Beyond has gone live, and see what you think then.
"Players will also be able to purchase digital sourcebooks, such as the Player's Handbook or Volo's Guide to Monsters, which will be available for $29.99. Adventure modules will run players $24.99. (Bradford notes that when D&D Beyond launches, the three core game books — the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Monster Manual — will be on sale for $19.99.)"

I use summon instrument to summon my kettle drum, hold it overhead like Donkey Kong, and chuck it at the nearest kobold.

Oh I know why they (Curse) can't do it because Hasboo/Wizards said no beta testing of non free content, still does not make it a good idea. So now we know pricing and release date. The subscription model pricing is good 2.99 -5.99 . The sourcebooks is standard Hasboo/Wizard double/triple dipping and ya I know Curse does not control that. So for a DM and his group who have not already bought the books and or bought digital books either from Roll20 or elsewhere this might be ok. For me I'll pass on most of this , I may buy the core 3 books when they are on sale at release, and if they have sales later on I may purchase some as well. Mainly because I like Curse and they have given me access to tons of stuff in many different games. The character builder still needs drop down selectors or tick boxes built in for things like flaws bonds etc pretty much everything. Also the pre gen characters still need a lot of work as well stat selection on some are better now but proficiencies are still sub par and weapon selection needs work as well Dwarf Fighters starting with Long swords ? um no.
I tried searching around this thread but didn't see a specific post about it yet. In the character builder, consider moving class AFTER ability scores. Currently if you wanted to make any character that has multiclassed you have to select the first class, move forward, select scores, then move backwards to finish your selection. In a site that for the most part is aesthetically pleasing and straight forward, this seemed like a poor design flow choice. Otherwise most other aspects have been pretty solid, the "character sheet" page looks great.

That's fine, nobody is making you buy it. I'm just saying as many have before me, there's no such thing as a free lunch.

Just a note: No official announcement about the pricing has been given yet. They said there will be different options to purchase the source material.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before so I apologize in advance if this has been addressed.
When creating a character, Bracers of Defense are not added to the AC value when they are equipped.
Overall - love the site, pricing and all the improvements planned for the near future - thanks guys and gals!
