There is going to be an app that can function offline but it isn't available yet - however, the whole site is mobile friendly if you have data/wifi access.
I recommend you check out the Quotes thread linked in my signature if you haven't already, it's full of answers straight from developers.
Fantastically organized and so easy to find things. I am highly impressed by this so far. I hope there will eventually be a way to take monsters right from the list and put them in an encounter tracker so that I don't have to keep flipping back and forth.
This is an incredible idea ! I lost so many time searching for digital tools that would help me as a player or a DM, but was'nt able to find anything suitable.
I also appreciate that D&D Beyond is something to complement tabletop play and not replace it. I think that bringing the game into the new digital era is going in the right direction. I already have my character sheet on a fillable PDF on my Android tablet and I love it this way (you can't loose a cloud-based file... if you see what I mean). In the campain I'm playing right now my DM is using only his tablet with Excel and pdf files, Android tools and such. Not only this allow him to be more flexible if when we, the players, make decisions but he no longer need a DM screen, with make the games more personnal, IMHO.
I think this will also let us, the players, make more homebrew content and share it more easily.
I have two main questions at this point :
1- Will these tools be available offline
2- What will be the buisness model you will adopt (since you won't sell books, I suppose this tool will be subscription-based?)

In regards to your questions, Tertion, the D&D Beyond team is planning to release an app that will work offline in the future, and there will be both options to subscribe or purchase specific parts. Check out the Developer Quotes link in my signature to find out more.
Thanks! Ticket sent to staff.

Great idea! That may actually come in one of the later phases!
(Character creation would be amazing though)
