I would be interested in a ultimate bundle for sure. I bet I will own them all at some point why not get them at a discount.
That's rather my thought exactly. I've been going back and forth with myself about whether I wanted to buy them all at once, because I knew I was going to in the long run, especially now that I know that we're getting hi-res maps, which I hope we'll be able to download, in case I decide to get them printed at the full 1" grid scale, so if there is a bundle that has any kind of relative discount, I'll probably jump on the ultimate bundle at launch. I'd also pounce at a lifetime subcription if that ever came to be, but I doubt it will.
I posted this in another thread and then realized this would be a better place to ask:
Will there be mechanics/variant rules only bundles for the adventures and SCAG? For the adventures it's usually only a handful of unique items, but being able to pay a couple of bucks to get them would be nice.
Related to this, could we get a list before release of the individual elements/bundles available and their price? It would help people plan out their purchases and might assuage some of the complaints about the prices if people see that they can get what they need for much less than buying all the books.
If I purchase either monthly option, when creating a character or homebrew, will all races, classes, spells be available to me at that time or do I have to purchase the PHB or other books to have those available to me? What will be the difference between the $2.99 hero tier and just the public option (beta) option? What will actually be available to me with a only a monthly subscription?

The subscriptions do not grant you access to the digital books. You must buy them (the ones of your choosing) to get the access. The master tier has all the features of the Hero Tier (unlimited characters slots, no ads, access to the homebrew community), plus the opportunity to share any purchased book within a campaign with your players.

If an adventure contains any magical items, you'll have access to them as a result of purchasing that adventure. :)
I'm not able to say when the full pricing of elements and bundles will be available, but most of it has already been stated in this thread and should be available in an FAQ format before release.

Thanks Stormknight, I appreciate the info. I was hoping to be able to just buy the items, similar to what I believe is available for the DMG, without needing to by the whole adventure book. We, like some other groups, run homebrew campaigns exclusively so not having to buy the whole thing for a small bit of the content would be cool. Not a deal breaker for sure, just a nicety.
On a side note, you and the other mods have been doing a fantastic job. Thanks for all your work! :)
If I pay the 5.99 a month will my players have to pay 2.99 a month to use the content in character builder?
Nope - your players won't have to pay a penny to access your content. The $5.99 subscription does exactly what it says - allows you to share your purchased content with players in your campaign.
There will be more detail on this for launch, with examples on how things work.

Yes, you will be able to buy specific magic items and there will also be an option to purchase just the magical items from the DMG (rather than the whole DMG).

Mods rarely get any love, so I'm happy to spread a little.
As for the DMG, I know that's an option and I'm hoping WotC/Curse will consider a similar bundle for other books. Like I said not a huge deal if they don't, I'm all in either way. It may, however, be a way to earn a little money from people who don't buy adventures.
Yeah, so, if I can't verify that I already own a physical copy of a book, there's no way I'm going to rebuy it just to be able to use this tool. The books I have are: PHB, DMG, MM, and SKT. That's already $200 I've invested into the game, and now if I want that content digitally I'm going to have to shell out another $115. No thanks.
The Hero tier is garbage. Pay $3 a month to remove ads (note, who doesn't use an ad blocker nowadays anyway?), unlimited characters, and all of the content that people have created and shared of their own accord.
The Master tier would make sense at $5 a month, provided I could again validate the content that I've already physically purchased so I could share it with my group.
I understand the need for this product to make money to support it and the developers, I really do. However, forcing people that have already invested into the physical media into repaying for it in a digital format at practically the same price of the physical media is not going to win a lot of people over to this. As the pricing currently sits, I will not be using it and will not be recommending it to anyone unless they're completely new.

$85 on the first week.
Free if you just copy everything in as private homebrew.

What's so hard to understand if you want digital copies you pay for them or you pay a monthly fee. If you can't afford to buy both you don't and you continue to play the game the way you've always played. The website is a tool which you can choose to use or not.
Personally, I like the idea of a higher monthly subscription that would give me access to all published content. But, I don't mind purchasing digital copies provided they are not just PDF but actually formatted for tablets and phone.

Plus, don't forget that this isn't just a digital version of the books formatted for online viewing. But all of the rules and mechanics parsed into the character builder, monster entries, and the rest of the compendium! This is leaps and bounds better than any PDF, but also taking leaps and bounds more labor to set up. I agree that it's strange that people have trouble with this. They are completely different products! If I bought the book in English, I shouldn't expect a French copy for free, right?

Then pay the developers. It's that simple.
Don't claim that you think people should be paid for their work and then turn around and say paying them "is garbage."
If you really do understand that they need to get paid for their work and if their work provides enough value to you, then you pay them, and pay them what it's worth*. If it doesn't provide enough value, then don't. There's absolutely no FORCING going on here and none of it is "garbage" just because it's not worth it to you personally.
* Knowing the amount of effort required to do something like this, I can assure you that these prices are quite low!
Reminder: there is currently no announced option to pay monthly for access to the books. I want that, lots, and on release, but it's never been promised.

OK so when dndbeyond releases, do we have to purchase content like classes and spells or will all the content in the PHB be free?

"You're out of your element, Donnie. Where you listening to the Dude's story? You're like a child who wanders into the middle of a movie..."
Seriously, there are 56 pages of comments and people are still chiming in to ask questions that have been answered multiple times.
You don't have to even read everything, just pick a random page and go from there. You'll find an answer in like 5 minutes.
This is painful for me at this point, I can't imagine how the people working on it feel.
Like, D&D is a game that requires reading to play. Stop trying to cut corners and do some reading.
