Three questions, the answers to which I'm sure are in this thread at least a dozen times, but I haven't been able to find:
1. None of these price points provide a PDF copy as well, right? I share the concern that a lot of other people do on spending a few hundred dollars for a license to something I will have no ability to access if the D&D Beyond tool set goes away.
2. What is the difference between a book and that book's compendium content? Can someone provide a few examples of things I won't have access to if I buy the compendium that I would have if I bought the book?
3. Assuming an app ever becomes available, do we know if the plan is for that app to allow us to access our purchased content offline?
1. You purchase the compendium with access to the tool set.
2. Compendium does not link the book's attributes with the character builder. eg. PHB Compendium would allow you to read about the battlemaster but you still could not make one on the character builder.
3.That is the whole point of the app. Offline access.

1. No.
2. The "book" will include full integration into the character builder and other tools that are on the way. The compendium is the content of the book in searchable format like the current free material is in the compendium area of the site.
3. Android/iOS apps are high priority - expected after launch. Purchased content will be accessible offline through the apps.

From what I understand, the answers are:
1. No
2. The compendium is the digitally indexed full-text of the book, while the other purchase options are for character building and the other DDB tools and features

Hi Mahewa, here my answers:
1) No, PDF is not part of DDB offering.
2) The Compendium content is just a "copy" of the physical book (it is the closest thing to a PDF). The content of a Compendium will not unlock the material for the toolset. The "whole" book will give you Compedium, plus will unlock the material for the toolset.
3) Offline app is in the list of things to do, although no official announcement has been done yet about a date.

1. None of these price points provide a PDF copy as well, right? I share the concern that a lot of other people do on spending a few hundred dollars for a license to something I will have no ability to access if the D&D Beyond tool set goes away. NO, there is not and won't be any PDFs. Wizards just isn't going to do that. You'll get a "digital version" accessible through the Compendium tab.
2. What is the difference between a book and that book's compendium content? Can someone provide a few examples of things I won't have access to if I buy the compendium that I would have if I bought the book? If you buy the full book, you get a digital version via the Compendium, plus all the content usable in the various tools (so really just the character builder for now plus whatever encounter builder or campaign tools are forthcoming) . The Compendium only (for the lower price) is NOT integrated into the tools - that's your digital version of the book only, in lieu of a PDF.
3. Assuming an app ever becomes available, do we know if the plan is for that app to allow us to access our purchased content offline? Yes, absolutely, though they have not given us any sort of target dates for when the apps will be available. Just that it's a priority, once they get past the launch.
Wow that's a lot of dough to to drop on a legendary bundle.
Nice thing is you can buy piecemeal and then when you decide to go for Legendary your previous book purchases will be reduced from the LB price. So you don't have to drop it all right away.
I tried building my druid on here the other day, but it is missing some really basic stuff such as "Circle of the Moon," backgrounds and feats. Are these things that will be unlocked once the players handbook is purchased or will basic character creation be fully available with the subscription price?

To unlock all the subclasses and feats and backgrounds, you-ll need to buy the PHB. No subscription required.
Will purchasing a Master license allow for the players that join my group to have the same perks as a Hero subscription (no ads, homebrew content, etc.)? Or are they expected to buy a Hero license in addition to the DM having a Master license? I know they'll have access to whatever content the Master license has (if they're part of the group) but I'm wondering about the ads specifically.

The Master tier, in addition to the sharing thing, will have all the benefits of the Hero Tier.

Your PLAYERS will still see ads unless they purchase their own Hero Tier subscriptions. YOU won't, with your Master Tier sub.

You could also just buy the class individually if you don’t want the entire PHB. Or be attached to a DM who has the content.
Q15b: Does that mean I will see adverts on every page, if I don't have a subscription?
Absolutely not - no adverts will be displayed on compendium pages for purchased content, even for free accounts.
This means that, if you purchase the Player's Handbook, you can browse that content, without seeing a single advert, regardless of whether you are paying for a subscription.
Adverts are being used as a source of revenue to reduce the costs that are passed on to those who use the site.
How much is the legendary bundle during the founder's week sale? Wouldn't it be better to purchase the 3 core rulebooks from the founder's week sale separately and get the 30% discount on those rather than purchase them through the legendary bundle and only get a 15% discount? Am I understanding that correctly?

The legendary bundle will not be affected by the first week discount.
If you buy the 3 core books and later the LB, you will get a credit of ~60.

Actually, I just found this in the FAQ:

What payment methods are allowed to purchase? Is it possible with PayPal? Many thanks.

I cannot wait for the 15th. I've tried to build characters with the wonderful tools provided, but the restricted content is driving me batty!
