After finding the search and rescue team, Dixie feels relieved, especially the sight of Mother Healer relaxes her turbulent mind. She sends a quick hand gesture towards the sled and announces to Heidi, "Here comes your sled, always at your service, Mademoiselles!"
She nods at the fellow ranger Kilmorrow in recognition but before any mutual exchange of words, her eyes get fixed at some kind of beads, and a strange fellow hanging from the branches, presumably Blackbur.
Hurdrak doesn't see much from the tree he climbed but noticed that the others were talking and pointing at something. Climbing back down he asks, "You are all interested in those pods? I could go and climb up and cut them down for you..." he stops seeing on of his companions already trying to climb the tree and just waits and watches. Sure he could out pace him and do it but he would never take the opportunity from someone to improve and hone their skills.
Mistral finds the going much harder than expected. The wind buffets him around, making it difficult to fly in any other fashion than short, jerky hops. Quite embarrassing, really. At least he suffers less difficulty than the others ascending the tree, dodging the spiked branches with practiced ease.
Those climbing up the tree where the tracks ended, up toward the unseasonable seed pods, spot an unnatural glow. It is emanating from above a large fungus shelf jutting out perpendicular to the trunk. Surmounting the shelf, the three mouselings can be plainly seen, in good health and good spirits, dancing and playing. A few discarded seed pods, opened and emptied, show that they have likely been eating well. But they are not alone! With them are three faceless beings, not much taller than they are.
One is prepared to defend its shelf with a snowball at the ready; another brandishes a long spine from the tree, and strikes an exaggerated fencing pose; the last one ignores the interlopers entirely, and continues to build a snowmouse.
Just then, the strange beings look up. Then they all jump directly into the trunk of the tree, seemingly merging with it, or phasing into it. From the uppermost perches of a nearby tree, two shrikes are diving toward them!
To their immediate relief, the birds plummet past them, but it quickly becomes apparent that they are going for the party below. Before they can react, one plucks Kilmorrow from the ground, while the other snatches Healer Heidi.
Sirithal casts Magic Missile, targeting one missile at the Shrike carrying Kilmorrow, and two against the Shrike carrying Heidi. (3 damage per missile)
”Ack! Ack!” The shrike carrying Kilmorrow hardly misses a beat with its wings, as it starts to lift off. The other cries out and bats a wing in Sirithal’s direction, as it adjusts its grip on the healer. “You’re next, lizard!”

Hurdrak initiative 9
How far away would Hurdrak be from the bird with the healer?
Hurdrak, while initially surprised at the dropping birds, had been trained for sudden attacks. He turned his gaze upon the two birds and had to prioritize the healer. He had every confidence though that Kilmorrow would be able to get free.
Looking at the bird he focused his will and intent upon the bird. Dark webs appeared upon its body constricting its movements slightly. He them pulled out his blade while scurring forward and took a slash st the air releasing a shockwave at it.
Bonus action: casting hex upon the bird with the healer. The when its hit by Hurdrak for the first time each round it takes 1d6 additional necrotic damage and it has disadvantsge on strength based checks
Move draw blade
Action: fluffing eldrich blast as the ranged slash of his blade Attack: 11 Damage: 4 + 4 necrotic damage from hex

When Dixie watches the second Shryke flying towards Sirithal, she draws out her dagger. With a Dash action she manages to cover 60 feet and after an abrupt halt aims for the creature. At first, she throws the Dagger with her right hand.
Attack Roll: 21 Damage: 7
Then as a bonus attack, she throws the Light Hammer at the intended target with her left hand.
The shrike shrieks, writhing in its webbed restraints, but is silenced by the blade as it cuts deep. Heidi tumbles out of the avian’s grasp just in time, as it collapses in a heap.
The remaining shrike also shrieks its displeasure, as it sees its mate fall. The rabbit throws its weapons, but the hammer goes wide, and the bird deftly deflects the dagger with a wing.
Blackbur lands squarely on the startled shrike, momentarily knocking the wind from both of them. What the Patrol Guardsmouse does not notice is a third shrike, swooping down to the shelf, and snatching up one of the mouselings! "BreeZeeek!! AckAckAck!! BreeZeeek!! BreeZeeek!!
Once it has the young mouse in its clutches, it unleashes with its racous calls, calling attention to itself and the mouseling's predicament.
"Noooooo!!! It's got my Nirvel!"
To stick the landing, I was only looking for dc/AC 10, rule-of-cool.
When the Light Hammer fails to inflict slightest damage to the creature, Dixie realizes that the two weapon attack has let her down. "Better luck next time", she murmurs under her breath with a growl of irritation, almost unintelligible to others. She watches the impressive fighting sequence of her teammates, her nose upturned and ears stooping down. As soon as one of the Shrikes is taken down, she draws out an arrow out of her pouch. Then loading the Longbow she aims for the second Shrike and releases the ammunition.
Hurdrak, hearing the third bird, shifts his attention there. His eyes gleam and one leg points at the bird he killed and then at the bird with the mouse. The spectral webs similarly wrapping around this one. He will likewise swing to cut the bird down.
On Hurdrak's turn he uses a bonus action to switch the hex from the fallen bird to this new one.
Then eldrich blast flavored as the sword swing 120ft range
The shrike above with the mouseling pivots, midair, avoiding the worst of Hurdrak’s blast. It then twists back around and impales the young mouse’s hindquarters on a long spine sticking out from the tree, where it now dangles, thrashing and screaming.
Healer Heidi steels her nerves and begins the treacherous climb, but she had considered the ladder through the snowpack an adventure. This would be ten times higher still!
Mistral flies up to meet the new threat, careful not to impale himself on the thorny branches all about. When he has closed half the distance, he lashes out again, this time striking the bird with his own thorny whip, and dragging it downward!
Erhard tosses his hook, but it is uncertain just yet, if it will reach its mark and strike true..?
Blackbur’s reluctant steed merely takes off. ”I will take you. The corpse will be yours.” With a flap of its wings, it lifts up toward the other shrike. It is not until it happens, that Blackbur realizes what the treacherous bird is about. They are surrounded by the long, thorny spines- the tree is veritably bristling with them. Only the sudden shift, the upward thrust, warns the mouse rider of his mount’s intent! From his peripheral vision, he spies a spike as tall as he is, alarmingly close- and getting closer!
