I am hoping to add 2 players to a campaign that has been running for over two years. If you are interested, please look at the first post of the existing game thread: link to Frontier City of Nunkreet. (That first page had my initial recruitment for this campaign.)
We are down to 3 active players, but they are interested in continuing. I figured some fresh blood will help.
This is a home-brew campaign. I have some ideas about larger world events, but this is largely made up as we go along. The character's backstories inspired a lot of what is going on right now. For example, the players have noticed demons and devils working together to try to find something of great importance. One of the character's wants to fight a Kraken, and hates Umberlee, so she turned out to be a good choice for an evil god behind a lot of the problems going on.
The campaign is at the edge of the known world, the wild frontier. There is one major city, called Nunkreet. (The players have visited a village to the north, and there are other inhabitants around.) Some of the characters are from the mature civilizations to the far east (talked about, but not visited in-game), others grew up in areas nearby. There are strange going ons, with interference from higher beings, and hints that the world is not as it used to be.
You should be able to average 1 post a day. By that, I mean when you have the time, you might do 2 or more posts on a particular day, and if life gets busy, you might not post for 2 or 3 days. (If a players is off-line for a while, I might have the character do a generic action to keep the story moving forward, but that is only if there is a long-ish delay.)
This is your standard heroic type adventures, so players should be good or (mostly benevolent) neutral alignments.
The characters are 6th level, about to reach 7th. You are welcome to create a 7th level character from scratch, or import one of your characters who is not currently busy. Stats are point-buy, hit points are the fixed values. Chose whatever class interests you; don't worry about balancing the party. I'll try to adjust the encounters to work for your characters. (The party currently has an archer, a hex blade warlock, and a paladin.)
For now, need: name, race, class, and background option. For the character's backstory, just a short and basic recap. I'll want to work the character's backstory into the existing world, so there will be some back-and-forth between us to flesh out some details. You can make more adjustments later. (Consider this the pilot episode of the TV series, and your character's full story won't be told until season 2 or 3, assuming the show runs that long.)
For equipment, use standard starting equipment. For magic items, that will be negotiated. If it is a few basic items, that will probably okay. If it is something more powerful, you might have to "quest" for it. (You can also suggest a "wish list" for magic items you'd be interested in getting, sometime in the future.)
In addition, tell me two other things:
why is your character is adventuring right now (wealth? power? see the world?), and
is there any big adventure you'd like to see down the road (fighting devils on other planes? wars between nations? take down an ancient dragon? build your own castle?).
I'll leave the recruitment open through Monday night (May 17th). Probably make a decision later that week, after consulting with the current players.
EDIT: Someone asked if they should read the 200+ pages. Good gracious, no! A lot of the world is a mystery (although not as bad as the "black box" of JJ Abrams movies). The characters also have parts of their backstory that they are investigating. If you join, I'll give some highlights. (Or maybe the other players will want to swap some storytelling.)

Colleen the Searcher Human Rogue(Arcane Trickster) Sage A failed apprentice for a powerful Wizard-Sage, Colleen left after lacking that certain spark of magic. She later discovered her own path. as a retriever of lost tomes of knowledge and other treasures.
She is adventuring right now to gather wealth, fame and information. I'd like to see her infiltrate a deadly foes stronghold to rescue an Artifact, a book which when opened can contain the contents of any known non-magical book.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Coriana - Company of the Grey Chain Wagner - Dragon Heist: Bards. DM - The Old Keep
Got a couple of characters ideas I'd like to get into a campaign - set up as level 1 at the moment.
Name: Herbert West, Race: Rock Gnome, Class: Wizard (sage background for the moment). Set up standard array, but happy to roll. Char Sheet. High level backstory: Kicked out by his family and village for having innate talents in Necromancy he has since travelled, never really settling. Doing small adventuring type tasks to earn money. Alignment would be Good, it's not his fault he has these talents. Quite like the idea of a happy gnome knocking about with Nercomancy talents trying to big up Necromancy to be a more popular pursuit.
Name: Zadok Allan, Race: Half Elf, Class: Bard (Sailor background). Again standard array char sheet. High level backstory: Left his fishing village after it was decimated by an unknown plague. Found himself under the tutorage of a master bard. Arms covered in tattoos and scars. His master bard parted ways suddenly, so he is looking for clues of his whereabouts and for anything to help understand the plague the ruined his life.
As for future adventures....stopping a plague that's emanating from the wild frontier (maybe the unintended impact from some wizard doing experimentation)...perhaps sailing across a huge inland lake dotted with islands and terrors and treasure (mmmm)...
Brin spent much of his younger life working in his clan's smithy, making machines and devices to help his clan. He is a tinkerer and smith and is well-known for his skill in both areas.
Why is he adventuring... Brin left the dwarven forges to gain some experience of the wider world.
What would I like to see him do down the road... To see him craft something like a clockwork griffin or other constructs to aid the group as well as the people around them.
Hailing from a tribal settlement, Nyx was drug from the brink of death by a wandering necromancer after her home was massacred and she was permanently robbed of her voice. In their time together, the necromancer taught her many useful skills to supplement her love for performance. And while Nyx initially found joy in this newfound knowledge, she eventually came to realize it was all for the necromancer's gains. With her life in his hands, Nyx now journeys the world with her natural shapeshifting abilities and her acquired roguish skills in search of wealth for her not-so-benevolent benefactor, but also secretly to discover a way to freedom from her captivity.
As a Changeling, Nyx has established a few identities aside from her natural form:
Suru, the Winsome Knife - Perceived as a human noblewoman whom the necromancer utilized to great effect in expanding his local influence by way of bribery and blackmail. Gen, the Erudite - A wood elf acting as a scholar, Gen utilizes the Guild artisan background and is known to be proficient with the forgery kit. (Divergent Persona) Clera, the Spurious Drifter - Nyx's primary adventuring form, a red-haired human woman who dons men's clothing and appears to handle a blade.
Special Note - Nyx is mute and can only communicate either through hand signals or with her Soulknife skill, Psychic Whispers.
As established earlier, Nyx's primary reason for adventuring is to sate her master's lust for wealth and power. However, she also seeks power to free herself from his captivity. As for grand adventures, Nyx wishes for nothing but to see the world and all that it entails. She is more fond of meeting people than engaging in conflict.
Red LaCroix Life Cleric 4/Celestial Warlock 3 Half-elf Acolyte
Red is a retired field medic who was trained to keep his soliders on the field and fighting. At the end of his final campaign, Red saw a beautiful suit of armor on an enemy corpse and took it for himself. This act of selfishness caught the attention of a celestial being who cursed Red. Until he can return the suit of armor to its rightful owner, Red must continue to save lives (and prepare the dead) on the battlefield. However, Red is beginning to sense that there is more to this curse, as if he is being prepared for a conflict much larger than those being waged on the Prime Material plane.
Name: Quince Wisely (of the Nunkreet Wiselys -- not the Wisleys of the Near East, the Wiselys of the Mid East,, or the Wiselys of the Far East)
Race and Class: Halfling Cleric 7
Background: Reformed Aristocratic Criminal
Quince is the second true born son of Lord and Lady Wisely, members of the Minor Nobility. He has an elder brother, a younger sister, and perhaps a hundred or so adopted siblings - all of whom work for the family business. His father is a city Councilor whose advice is much sought after -- probably because his mother oversees one of the largest spy networks in the West.
Quince left that life behind him when he felt his calling to become a cleric. Now, he lives a life of service to others, freely offering healing when it is needed.
Name: Anaskyrath Race: Protector Aasimar Class: Druid (Stars) 6 / Cleric (Peace) 1 Background: Hermit Backstory: Ana was born into a druid grove on an auspicious night and studied the stars just as her parents did, but her celestial blood and the deva guide who visited her dreams called her away - she was needed to guide the civilized and protect them from what was coming.
Why is she adventuring... She is on a mission to impress the importance of Balance and Peace upon the people of the frontier, who can be overzealous in their expansions, as well as to protect them from evil.
What would I like to see her do down the road... I'd love for her to help defeat a dragon and turn its hide into scale armor she could wear. Also I'm interested in either a staff of the woodlands or staff of the ivory claw (would be very appropriate for her I think)
Khufuruh was born in a Material Plane community of Fae, shortly before it was ravaged by opposing faeries. He and the rest of his flock have spread throughout the world, most simply adapting to new lives, but he and his friends have planned to try and retake their home, and eventually return to the Feywild. For him, this promise has weakened as he has begun to enjoy his new role in the outside world.
Khufuruh is a strategist, who studied for years at an academy of arcana and war magic, learning to fight, cast spells, and make swift tactical decisions to change the tide of a battle. After graduating, he served for a time as a strategist for a roving raider band. They split up over some simple differences, and he has gone from group to group, earning enough to support himself and sending money back to his family, who are now hunters for a small village. He's lost his purpose, and hopes to find it again; hopefully in a way his older self would be proud of.
At the moment, he adventures to try and find his old companions and to gain wealth, because he has found that most things are made easier with wealth.
In the future, he'd like to get revenge on the hag coven that destroyed his home, and as the player, I'd love to have a chance to show off his strategist side in a larger conflict of some sort.
Name : Vorenus (likes to call himself "Vorenus the Great")
Class : Wild Magic Sorcerer 6 / Warlock 1
Race : Variant Human
Background : Charlatan (has convinced himself and others that he is powerful with magic, and he is, just not in the way he thinks)
Backstory :
Vorenus never really knew who his father was. He liked to think that his father was a powerful wizard who came into town, had a go with an attractive young servant girl (his mother, Sevilia), and teleported out of town, with smoke and shimmering, twinkling lights. He dreamed about what his father knew about him, whether he even knows that he exists. He grew up wanting to be like a father that he never knew.
Except it didn't really go like that. Vorenus wasn't brilliant in studying his letters, he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. But he always felt that he could be. So he kept studying hard. And pored over every book, letter, or scrap of paper that he could find about anything magical. But it didn't really stick. He found over years that he could produce magical effects, but he couldn't really control them. He would act as though he "meant to do it" just as it turned out, but he was baffled as much as everyone else as to how magic happened.
He has grown in his powers and survived by this point by luck, and learned along the way. Other points about his backstory will come out slowly with time.
He is travelling with others to gain notoriety, respect, and to be acknowledged for the truly great wizard (!) that he is. He wishes to stay with a group of adventures that can support him and that he can help.
He would be interested in protecting the frontier from an undead threat or a dragon, or seeking other ways to make his power greater. He has been blessed thus far, he would be appreciative of any magical items that would help in his quest. (wands, robes, staff, etc).
Before I post a character I have a question. Do you allow homebrew classes? I've been looking for a campaign that will let me try one of the ones I've created. I've written a Jedi analog, a Spider-Man/Venom analog, and a subclass for artificer that is a Jeckyl & Hyde / Banner & Hulk monster. I'd love to play any one of them.
I'll look over the submissions, and consult with the existing players.

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of some of the posts, disappointed to see others hide their stuff in a pm...😜
I will see if I can work within the parameters (cough point buy;-) and produce a suitably interesting and effective character, before this evening...
