Almarath: A wizened old man comes hurtling down the stairs from the rooms above, red robes disheveled and long grey hair a tangled mess. Obviously drunk, he stubbles and staggers his way toward the bar. He orders a drink and turns, finally noticing the surprisingly large group of people that have entered the tavern.
Badly slurring his speech, he says, "You're finally here! I've been waiting in this frozen hell for days, and now I'm the one that's late? Hrmph!"
He rights his hair and straightens his robes, says, "However, it has been decades since I've last been away from my research at Candlekeep and... I've been finding ways to entertain myself." He proceeds to belch, laugh, and take a drink before finally sitting down.
“Thank you, mylady” Allyn nods and gives Tylaerys a warm smile “I do my small part to spread the stories of the world around us. Although I am afraid it was not my finest performance, it was rather wooden” He flexes his fingers “Perhaps the cold. I will strive to do better in the future”
He glances around the table at the gathering group, a smile fixed on his face and his eyes meeting each in turn as he takes in their features. He notices the symbols of Mystra, Azuth and Oghma displayed among them and the talk of visions.. Followers of the Gods of Magic and knowledge pulled together, but for what cause he wonders to himself. Very curious.
He turns to the new arrival "Welcome friend, I didn't realize we had an appointment to keep, but this day grows stranger by the minute. Tell me, what pulls you away from Candlekeep?"
Almarath: Looking puzzled, Almarath takes a long sip from his ale and sighs, saying, "So, you're not the expedition party I've been waiting for? I've been dispatched from Candlekeep to obtain a sample of this strange material called Chardalyn. Perhaps you've heard of it? I'm to ascertain its origin and report back."
Scratching at his long white beard, he continues, "My team should have arrived a week ago, however. I begin to worry they were not as prepared as I for the climate."
Kane notices the drunken old man come down the stairs. “There are still more people?” Kane thinks to himself. His drunken state brings back another bad memory. He holds his head as it comes to him. He hears a voice.
Kane? Honey? Are you okay? Oh..the memory. Don’t worry, I’m right here. He can’t hurt you anymore. I’m going to protect you Kane. You are going to be just fine. You would like me to sing you a song?”
Kane nods and after a few minutes his demeanor becomes calmer and more relaxed. He ignore the man and focuses Tyl and the female Dragonborn.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Greetings Kassian Pride-...song" Tylaerys smiles at the young handsome man joining them. "I think we´re quite a few here with a vision such as Asters. The question is why. I am a servant of Mystra myself and Asters vision was at least sent by Mystra, but it seems that Azuth and Oghma also has a part to play in this mystery."
"My favourite tea Kane, oh it is a special blend likely not found anywhere but at Silverymoon I think."
"So Aster, forgive me for asking but you look like you´ve been through a lot, what happened to you?" Knowledge to realize what Aster is:15
"Oh you are too modest Allyn I hope we will hear more from you within long." Smiling at the bard.
As the wizened old man comes down the stairs Tylaerys can´t help but smile again, but then she notices something is wrong with Kane. "Kane, Kane, are you all right. You really meant it when you said you didn´t like alcohol. It can be a dangerous drug that affects some more than others. This one..." She nods at Almarath "...seems harmless enough."
Tylaerys’ words help calm down Kane. This is why she was his favorite. “You never know what someone will do when they are on the drink…” He says as he traces the long scar on his face. *If you ever seen Josey Wales, think of that scar Clint Eastwood has.* “But thank you for your kind words, they were…nice.” He smiles at her but nervously fumbles with his Ruby ring.
The old man stands up and claps his hand together, rubbing them once he has everyone's attention.
"The gods sure do work in mysterious ways he says as he looks at the assembled group." He chuckles at his own jest and shrugs like it's nothing new to him.
"Seems you are all bound by this crusade. I call it the Put her Back to Her Place Crusade but the higher-ups don't like it." He chuckles once more. "Auril has made a mess and some of us believe Shar has been hiding in her shadows," chuckles come once more, " we can't have her deal harm in her own pocket of the world."
"You should get ready for a long trek. Dogs are ready for you but they leave tomorrow." He raises an eyebrow." The dwarven fellows of clan Battlehammer are going home and are taking people to protect their hoard."
" I assigned you as protection. And you are working for me now." He makes a show of exposing his chest. "I'll give you 10 gold pieces to do this but you would anyways. You want those visions to go don't you."
"Be ready early morning please, it wouldn't look good on me, you know, with my first time being the owner of a protection group." He throws a few coins on the table." And have fun tonight. It might be the last one...."
Before the old man leaves Tylaerys speaks out. "Excuse me good sir, while I find the idea of opposing Auril the Frostmaiden and Shar to be most appealing, can you please elaborate on the subject of us working for you. I must admit my visions at least did not show me an old man taking charge over people he never met. And by what name shall we call you good sir?" Tylaerys obviously a bit annoyed with this unknown man taking charge without properly introducing himself.
Quip has been absent mindedly writing in a strange hybrid between formal musical notation, calligraphy and doodles she stands sharply and utters her first word to the group.
"Supplies?" She asks in a 'who's coming with me' sort of tone
Kalec nods as he ponders the journey and mission. "I suppose it's time to get some rest and food before our journey." He hears Quip and nods again. "Yes, supplies would be good. I can go with you."

I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Protection group? Frostmaiden? Honestly Kane, this sounds like a big mission. Are you sure we are up for this?
”Of course. If Oghma wants us to protect people, that is what we are going to do. I know what it’s like to be helpless, I don’t want other people to feel the same way. Anyway, it’s getting late, I’ll stay up for a minute but then head to bed. Didn’t you say I could stay with you in the ring?” Kane asks Sarana telepathically.
I did, but my place is such a mess. Give me another day to clean it up and you can stay with me. I promise. When you are stuck in a ring for 10,000 years, you stop caring about what your place looks like. But now with you, I do care. Okay, I’m going to bed. I’ll see you in the morning, Kane.
”Goodnight, Sarana.” Kane whispers. He sees that the female dragonborn is going out for supplies and was about to go with her when he saw the other Dragonborn volunteer. He looks around at the rest of the group. Kane keeps to himself quietly and sips his tea.
Allyn follows Tylaerys with his own questions for the man “Just a minute, where is this home they are returning to, and what exactly do they need protection from? The Frostmaiden herself and Shar? Maybe you have the wrong group. You see, I am more of an entertainer than a protector.”
He pauses with a shock as another thought hits him “Wait, and what do you know of our visions?”
"So Aster, forgive me for asking but you look like you´ve been through a lot, what happened to you?" Knowledge to realize what Aster is:11
It's not clear what they are, though they seem undead they have blood and a beating heart, and a slight flush is visible under the frostbite. They also seem... Too self aware to be the product of necromancy.
"You see," Aster lets out a quiet scoff, corners of their mouth twitching up without showing teeth "That is what I hope to discover. I woke up one day with broken legs, a broken neck, and a numb face, and Mystra here's telling me that if I do what she says she'll tell me"
"It seems we will all be traveling together then," Kassian says with excitement in his young eyes, "This would be my first "true" adventuring with a party, without supervision, and my sword and shield will be at the ready!", he proudly states with an innocent smile as his clean white teeth catch a sparkle from the firelight.
Hearing the dragonborn speak of supplies, "I shall accompany you as well." he says eager to help out. He then turns to the rest of the group, "Till we meet in the morning. Gentlemen. Mylady.", he says with a courtesy bow, and joins the dragonborn.
In Draconic:
"I happen to have an uncle who is a dragonborn. His scales and color were more of a bronze variety and oh boy when he got mad he would be spitting lighting! Literally."
Kane watches as Kassian shows his perfect smile. He feels his own teeth and feels his fangs. He watches Kassian leave. “Finally, Pretty Boy left. Hm..that was kinda mean, but still, he hasn’t given me any reason to hate him, except his perfectness and I’m pretty sure he is going to steal Tyl away from me. Not going to happen.” Kane seems to talk to himself in his head a lot. Happens when you spend two years alone.
Why do you think of him so lowly? Just…give him a chance. I have you one, didn’t I? Just because he has perfect teeth and perfect hair and all that, doesn’t make me a bad guy. Just..try to be friendly, okay?
Kane sighs and nods in head in agreement. He looks at Tylaerys, “So, anything we need to do before the journey tomorrow? Here, I think this one would look good on you.” He takes one of his inner coats, made of beaver fur, and wraps it around Tylaerys. “Good?”

She turns on a heel toward the door with a little sigh that says 'off we go!'
As the others, except perhaps Allyn, seem to readily accept their new mission Tylaerys turns to other matters.
"Interesting discussion you have going there Kane. This coat looks good on me don´t you think. Still we should perhaps see what the local trader has to offer in the winter gear department." Tylaerys quickly finishes her cup of tea, gets her staff and pack, and follows the others. "Are you coming?" She says smiling again, looking at Kane, Aster and Allyn.
"I'll come with. I have nothing else to do" Aster lifts themselves up, their weird eye still looking at the man in furs who called them earlier "I don't need much, which means that I already have what I do need. But I would like to know you more, if we are to follow the same path"
They frown at the thought of dogs, holding their hands close to their chest and feeling the few skeletal fingers through the glove. They better not try out for a bite , they think to themselves as they follow close behind Tylaerys, interested in the group and grateful to have someone who didn't shun them at first sight.
