Yasei politely smiles to Wakanga, which quickly fades as she settles into her rigidly uncomfortable seating pose directly on the floor. She's watching Maldrek with admiring, rapt attention. Perhaps she's found her first friend? She catches herself from staring after a good, solid minute, and turns to Wakanga and waits for him to speak, with nary an expression on her face.
Her hands are stacked, one on top of the other, gently on her lap. On purpose, she places the hand with her royal signet ring on top, making a subtle statement to Wakanga that she, too, is royalty (even though shes not, currently....).
At one point on the walk to the villa, Bree sidles up to Clayton and says, "Hey Bacon, what if the dinosaurs *are* the job!" and she scrunches up her shoulders in glee.

"My new friends. I'm sure Syndra has told you why you are here. It is true. The rumors are true. A death curse has spread quickly across the land, perhaps the whole world. Syndra and I believe that the source of this curse is somewhere in Chult. How do I know this? I am sympathetic to the Harpers cause. While the other merchant princes couldn't care less, I do care. I have known Syndra for a while. I know that she would not call you all here today if the situation was not dire. Given her condition, she does indeed have 80 days left to live, unless the curse is not stopped."
"I will allow you all to use my home as a safehouse for as long as you need. In addition, my services are yours, as well. I am quite an accomplished mage, and can craft potions and scrolls - for a small price of course - as you need them."
"The inns in the Port will have plenty of guides for you to hire, and it is highly recommended that you hire one. I do not know them well enough to recommend one, but I have heard they are all good. In addition, i'm sure you can find other things to do, and other people to help with you...talents.
I will answer any questions you may have, and please enjoy my hospitality!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: this whole scene stinks of a racket. How would Syndra know she has exactly 80 days left to live? And O’tamu seems too pushy to want us to spend money in his town. I get the feeling we’re being conned into doing dirty work for these guys.
Yasei remains impassively skeptical of O’tamu. She will not say so, or let her face and body expressions imply that she is, but she wishes to study O’tamu intently, to see if she can perceive any sort of con or sham in play: 17 (Perception/Insight)
Syndra knows she has about 80 days to live based on her hit point total. Every day that goes by, she loses 1 hit point because of the curse. So you detect nothing amiss about that.
Second, O'tamu is a merchant prince of Port Nyanzaru. He's interested in two things. Helping you all and Syndra, and offering his services to help.
You detect nothing askew or amiss except a problem affecting the world, and two people willing to help you achieve a solution.
Shariel begins to tour the meeting room for trophies, souvenirs, or oddities, "Sir, do you know what manner of creatures inhabit the lands we are setting out for? We've been given little information about an already mysterious land. It would be nice to have the word of someone closer to the destination."

"In my collection I have a tattered explorers journal that you might find interesting. Here. Take a look."
As you glance over the book, it mentions the expeditions of explorations of the jungle that nobody of interest have made. What's important is the information you find. Among some of tidbits of information written, you find out that the jungle is almost prehistoric in nature.
Dinosaurs. Aarakocra. Apes. Goblins. Spiders. Plenty of jungle insects. And...zombies.....?
"Most of the jungle is, indeed, unexplored. Many Nyanzaru expeditions we have sent out never return. I will not lie to you. This journey will be hazardous. The guides i've seen by the inns are, by far, the most experienced to brave the jungle."
At one point on the walk to the villa, Bree sidles up to Clayton and says, "Hey Bacon, what if the dinosaurs *are* the job!" and she scrunches up her shoulders in glee.
“I get the feeling job dinosaurs won’t be as friendly as racing dinosaurs. Also, seems like your brother might have an admirer.” He says in a hushed tone with a nod toward Yasei.

OOC: Cuts to Maldrek just aggressively shoving fruit in his mouth.
"Your hospitality is much appreciated, Master O'tamu," Bree says with a formal bow she observed on her way here (playing that 22 in Performance for all it is worth). "As is your care for Miss Silvane, our dear friend. We will not fail her."
To O'tamu:
"Do you have space for us here, or should we find lodging in town?"
To the party:
"Okay, everyone huddle! We need to find clues about where this Soulmonger is. We need to find a guide who can take us there, and tell us what we need to buy to get there, like donkeys..." she pauses and a big smile comes over her face, "...or maybe dinosaurs! Pack dinosaurs! Uh. And, we probably need more money for all that. Maldrek and I don't have much to throw in... any of you?"
"Bacon here," she motions to Clayton, "said something about betting on dinosaur races? I'm pretty lucky, if we want to try that."
To O'tamu again:
"Um, hey, Master O'tamu? What can you tell us about the dinosaur racing? Besides how amazing it is?"
The dinosaur racing is a good way to try and make some money. And yes. If you guys wish to spend the night here, you may. There is plenty to see and learn in Port Nyanzaru.
- Once you find a guide, and enter the jungle, it is unlikely you will be able to return to the Port because of the limited time you have.
- If you are looking for ways to make more money, the races are a good start. Some of the people here in the Port may need help with something as well.
- The guides in the Port will most likely not work for free unless you do something for them in return.
“Well, I believe y’all already know where my vote is. I think we might be able to make some decent coin if we play smart. Plus, I won’t lie, I just wanna see some dinosaurs race.”
"It is very kind of you to let us stay here, Master O'tamu. May your generosity come back many times over."
Bree and Maldrek will take a sizable room (there are two of them, after all), deposit her their luggage, and reconvene with the party. She is still decked out in what looks like local dress, hair still up. She has a small bag slung over her shoulder, her knives, and her crudely-carved quarterstaff.
"Okay, who can pool money for the races? We have a couple of gold," and she shows a hand with two gold in it, and grimaces. "It's hard to build much of a nest egg when you're always moving around."

"Awright, Bacon! I don't think we should spend too much of Miss Silvane's money on this, in case the gods don't favor us." She looks at Bacon expectantly, hand still out with her two gp.
