"I wouldn´t concern myself with trying to make sense of the plans of goblins..." Oppleby says to Salty Paul and the others "...but it is unlikely that their plan is to eat them I can tell you. We should get going though." He adds and readies his Blazooka.
(OOC: Think we´re just waiting for Keashirril then :-)
Keashirryl joins the others on their short rest, mostly silently listening to the conversation about the eating habits of goblins. She rolls her eyes, and hastily pulls the arrow that hit through her armour in battle, almost looking like she tries to surprise herself with the quick move.
"This is not what I signed up for, Gundren" she murmurs to herself when standing up again, streching her legs and checking if her weapons and other belongings are in the right place. She fidgets with the belt holding her mace, tugs at her holy symbol and looks up at the trail ahead. She takes up her position somewhere in the middle of the group where it feels relatively safer.
"I would be more worried about our plan than that of the goblins. Running ahead into the thicket to save our... mutual aquaintance is not an overly detailed one."
(OOC: Sorry for the delay, haven't been feeling too well, but I'm back on track. And I second Kea's place in the marching order.)
"Yes, you are right of course Keashirryl..." Oppleby says scratching his beard "...but I think we need more information to make a good plan. For now our plan should be to follow this trail cautiously and find out where they have taken Gundren and Sidar and then make a well thought through plan to rescue them."
Perception when needed:10
(OOC: Sorry to hear that Onetiredthing, glad you´re back :-)
(ooc: Glad you're feeling better! :D and I agree with the marching order too, Promise should go first since with her shield equipped she has like 18 AC)
"I am afraid a stealthy approach is impossible for me. As beautiful as my armor is, it is not built to remain silent. Should we perhaps try some reconnaissance, first? If there are any hidden or underguarded passages it would be easy even for me to pass by undetected. Otherwise, we should brace ourselves for slaughter."
As she speaks, Promise's expression remains the same flat one, but from her body language you can understand she's upset that her armor is causing so much trouble.
"Yes, we would be as sneaky as a horde rampaging tarrasques in these." Oppleby says flatly seeing the mostly metalclad group. "I am working on a prototype of a scouting drone but it is not ready for field testing yet I´m afraid. Let´s see where the trail takes us and we will make a plan before entering any goblin caves."
Feeling better after a short rest, Salty Paul dutifully takes his spot in line. He hasn't spent much time in nature and he finds himself distracted by birds and animals he spots along the way... occasionally recalling that there may be goblins about and glancing about nervously, before returning to nature watching.

"I can accept that" says Keashirryl slowly, addressing the issue of a plan. Her features and even tone seem surprised, even doubting; as if she wasn't used to and could not find the words to express such agreement. Her tail swings to scare away an imaginary fly.
When Promise mentions her armour, her gaze settles on the albino tiefling, looking Promise over with a stirn expression. Her eyes trace the armour, looking for weak spots, and not finding many, Keashirryl's constant tension seems to fade a little.
"Wise as it may be to try avoiding it, a confrontation will eventually happen. Then, we will be grateful for an extra piece of armour between our chest and an arrowhead." she adds, almost absentmindedly.
Promise, as you are going along the road, you see a bit of rope sticking out from under a pile of dead leaves. Upon closer inspection you notice that it is a snare trap that would have suspended you upside down from a tree nearby.
As you all carefully avoid the trap, you continue for another 10 minutes down the trail until suddenly, the ground beneath Promise begins to fall away, revealing a pit. Promise, please make a dexterity saving throw.
“Whoa… careful there!” Salty Paul is too far away to do anything but watch Promise attempt to avoid the pit. If she falls, he will offer his hand to help her climb out Athletics 24. If Keashirryl helps for advantage 11.

The tiefling woman flinches as she sees the trap revealed. If Promise falls, she tries to help Salty Paul, who reacted quicker than she could, in pulling her up - that is, if they can reach her. Otherwise, she thinks for a moment, and quickly says a single sentence, refusing to look the others in the eye. She slightly stresses the last couple of words, as if implying something, but trying to avoid asking it explicitly. "I don't happen to have a piece of rope."
Last in line and slow to react Oppleby sighs if Promise falls into the pit, scurries over and sends down a rope from a mechanism in his backpack. "Promise to hold on to that now and we´ll get you out of there."
Promise takes 2 damage as she falls ten feet into a 6x6x10 pit.
Paul, you are able to climb down part of the way and with Keashirryl's help, you pull Promise out of the pit without too much effort.
Following the goblins' trail, you come across a large cave in a hillside five miles from the scene of the ambush. A shallow stream flows out of the cave mouth, which is screened by dense briar thickets. A narrow dry path leads into the cave on the right=hand side of the stream.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Even their traps are not more than a nuisance." Oppleby sayswith contempt as Promise is helped up from the pit. "I would have at least built in rotating razorblades or stabbing spears or perhaps an acid bath down there." He adds, not being the most empathic.
"So this is the lair of those wretched goblins." Oppleby says while scanning the area for information regarding their numbers and other entrances, fiddling with his goggles to adjust settings. Investigation:18
You don't see another entrance. Looking to your right across the stream, you see what looks to be a slight grove on the other side of the cave entrance. You do find a number of goblin tracks as well. Around a dozen goblin footprints and two humanoid bodies being dragged are visible.
"It seems they have dragged Gundren and Sildar all this way. I agree it seems strange for goblins to go through all this trouble. This might be about something else than just plain banditry, and if it is I bet there is someone doing the planning for the goblins. Judging by these footprints we have already taken out a third of those buggers. Be careful now, they might have sentries." Oppleby says as he cautiously approaches the grove, very wary of another ambush, ready with his blazooka taking care to move between covers from the cave entrance and the grove.

Promise and Oppleby manage to hide the cart fairly well beside the road in some bushes.
Oppleby, you don't think that goblins make a habit of eating people, but you have heard stories about ones lead by demonic influences doing it.
Roll your short dice hp and let me know if there is anything else you want to do before going down the trail.

Promise leads the group down the trail for a good ten minutes or so. As the leader of the expedition, please make a perception check Promise.
