Carcan rights himself, nods toward Mr. Stronghold and follows the others out of the room with his metal companion following close behind.
When they're all out of earshot from the office, assuming there's nobody else nearby, he'll say to the group in a somewhat hushed tone "This is odd, right? It's not just me? He was clearly hiding some key information, and why does he even have an 'associate' in Zerone? Isn't that place just full of bandits and low-life criminals?"
(Knowing this is sensitive information, he wouldn't say this if there's anyone other than the group from the meeting within earshot. If we're in a busy hallway, I'll save that for the road...)
"He probably was. But we have enough to go off of." Kai says, fidgeting with something in his pocket."And having contacts in a place full of criminals is optimal. They're not bound. They get places, know things." The aaracockra chuckles. "Take it from me. A criminal who got places and knew things."
His suggestion regarding using the sending spell to try to communicate with the boy having been completely ignored by everyone, Agar shrugged and smiled. He's go along with the rest of the group, for practice with his metamagic skills if nothing else.
Heli keeps walking to the transport they are provided with, "Having contacts everywhere is useful, but I am curious as to how exactly he came upon that one."
"Probably got impressed by his skills and hired 'em." Kai replies to Heli. As they pass Luke's room, he stops everyone. "Might be to our benefit to conduct a search of the kid's room."
The aarakocra sends a ray of energy into Victorin, the one he would feel is the most perceptive (casting guidance), as they enter Luke's room. He then folds his helmet visor down, and it emits a pulse of sound for a moment (detect magic, ritual). "Scanning the area..."
Heli enters the room and just starts rummaging through it, looking for any notes or anything else of the kind, maybe any traces of struggle, anything that is obviously not Luke's.

“Scan complete. This room appears to have housed a child of magic potential. This room is seeping with Natural magic.” The computer replies, as a thick green fog shows up on your screen (make a perception check please)
@ikarbino: It was kind of brushed over, Jacob said that there was an anti-scrying field (pretty much a field to hide from divination magic)
Sending is evocation, not divination.
That may be, but an anti-scrying field would still block that spell as it attempts to target a creature that should remain hidden. But it is a good idea.

You find a small tuft of fur that appears to belong to a squirrel, which doesn’t make sense since squirrels don’t even live within eight miles of here.
Luke’s room appears to be a normal teenager’s room, except it’s clean. Clothes are folded neatly in the oak drawers, a mirror hangs perfectly level next to a closet full of clothes, armor, and weapons of all sorts. The bed is still messy and unmade and the blinds are shut. A simple bulb hangs from the ceiling and there is a lamp on the bedside table along with a book on plants and herbs.

(OOC: Kai's helmet doesn't talk, just shows him stuff. Not a big thing but just something I'd rather have control of for Kai's RP.)
Kai nods slowly as the words pop up on his visor for a moment. "Seems the kid was a prodigy."
"There's this. The boy had a familiar? Anybody have a way of finding a familiar, if it is one?"Heli shows the tuft of fur to everyone, especially the R&D folks. "Stronghold said the boy is nothing special. So I think we can all agree that he was hiding Luke."
Kai flips his visor up. "Scan indicates conjuration magic on that fur. Used in teleportation spells and the creation of portals. Kidnapper likely conjured a portal or teleported in directly to the room and forced the kid back through to their base. Can infer that the fur belongs to one of the desert-dwelling peoples east of the city. We find people wearing fur like that, we find the kid."
Heli's words give him pause. "Summoning a familiar likewise uses conjuration magic, but a squirrel is an atypical choice for one. Squirrels aren't native to the area and I don't believe that the fur is from one of them. Perhaps he liked squirrels, though. We could talk to the director again, see if he did."
Heli shrugs, this way of thinking isn't too familiar to her. She isn't used to thinking that far ahead, "It also seems like the boy was all alone here. No other teenagers, forget that, no other friends. I can definitely see him conjuring himself a little squirrel friend, especially since there seems to be a nature theme going on here," she waves her hand around the room, then picks up the book and flips through it, looking for anything interesting there.
After that, he grabs one of the wands tucked into the inside of his coat and activates his Wand of Secrets to check for any hidden compartments or doorways in the room.

Farewell.

Ok, well, did anyone want to check out Luke’s room? I know it was mentioned a few times and you would have access?
Farewell.

Quinn tries to think of any fur covered peoples that live east of HQ towards the desert.

You invent a half-formed myth in your head of a vicious tribe of squirrel peoples that carry away badly behaved children in the nighttime.

(OOC: No problem, sounds good)
You see nothing other than the green aura, though the tuft of fur Heli found does has a faint aura of Summoning magic (Conjuration)
Farewell.

There are notes in the margins of the book, but they appear to be in some kind of code or notation. They don’t appear to be familiar to any of you.
Farewell.
Heli notes the writing down, doing her best to copy the symbols.
Carcan taps his Helm of Comprehending Languages to cast Comprehend Languages on himself and traces a finger along the notes, just to check if they're written in a language he doesn't recognize.
