Seeing the R spined book, Ollezall will make a grab for it. Sleight of hand check: 19.
(Guidance + 3. That's an action though, and this feels like more of a reaction so I'll leave that to you whether that is possible).
Righting himself after the bookcase, Ollezall receives a vague sense from the ether that somewhere in the recent past, there was a situation where a dozen animated knives were inflicted on a similar sized party and wonders if this is the universes retribution ( :P ).
"I've already read the last page; I don't like your ending!" Ollezall will cast sacred-flame for 4 damage; Dexterity 15 save. Ollezall will target a book at random
Cerlinde drops her staff and pulls out a dagger. “Not… going to use fire here.....” she manages to explain, and she slashes at the animated book pile with her blade…
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Syd is careful in his attack, attempting to pick out books with his blade, but not Cerlinde. However, he is a little too careful and the swarm molds itself out of the way of the mighty weapon.
Ollezall, even without divine aid, is able to successfully grab the latest entry in the acclaimed collection, "Mordenkainen and Fistandia's Encyclopedia of Planar Freedom".
With a positively brilliant taunt, Ollezall's radiant incantation dazzles the swarm, causing several books to crash into each other, falling away from the rest of the mindless collective.
Given that Cerlinde is literally covered in books, it would seem absurd that she could possibly miss with her dagger . . . and she doesn't! A well placed stab lands right through the heart of the latest volume of our hot romance series between the star-crossed drow and satyr. Syd sees the book fly through the air and land at his feet. It crashes through a few other books of the swarm, scattering them about and further diminishing the swarm.
(Why is it that Tier 1 adventures are so riddled with swarms? I pledge that my first homebrew adventure will be swarm-free and I'll dedicate it to you, @Potaido_!)

Mohdrak traded the familiar surroundings of the kitchen and dining room for the lesser known area of the library. Maybe next there could be a gymnasium though he highly doubted it. So far it seemed that whoever owned this manor was more focused on the acadamic pursuit of knowledge rather than physical excellence. A hobby like any other. He thought to himself as he followed the others into the bookfilled chamber. He was one of the last to enter, party because his large frame would block the others and partly because he was not in such a rush like the others to grab a book, and idly lingered near the door. It was only when a bookcase toppled over and a swarm of angry books - Books have emotions now? - fluttered around Cerlinde that the literature grabbed his attention.
With shield in hand and morningstar in the other the minotaur made his way to the paper pestered party member. He swung his weapon in a downward arc hoping to pin one or more books to the ground while using his horns to shove some of the other books away from Cerlinde.
Immediately after you hit a creature with a melee attack as part of the Attack action on your turn, you can use a bonus action to attempt to shove that target with your horns. The target must be no more than one size larger than you and within 5 feet of you. Unless it succeeds on a Strength saving throw (DC 15), you push it up to 10 feet away from you.
Dyumi takes two wild swings with his handaxes and while the first is just barely off target, the motion of the attacks shifts his low drawn cowl just enough to clear his field of view for a successful second strike. Another book is chopped away from the swarm and bounces off the ground, coming to a rest against the other freestanding bookcase.
Despite the look of serious apprehension on the face of Cerlinde, Mohdrak strides up and takes a mighty swing with his morningstar, managing to drive a swath of books from one side of the swarm. Sensing an opening, he lowers his head and attempts to separate the swarm from Cerlinde with his impressive horns.
The hammering is successful and the swirling mass of books will be driven back. Following Mohdrak and Dyumi's attacks, there is a slight opening in the swarm for Cerlinde to escape, if she is agile enough. (Can Cerlinde roll a DEX save (DC12) to see if she can avoid being knocked over as well?)
The swarm is momentarily scattered as the books get knocked back 10 feet, but quickly reform. It seems that the attacks have taken a toll and the swarm is noticeably smaller than in its original incarnation. As the half-swarm advances again, this time heading toward Dyumi, another pile of books rises, animating into a new swarm. It heads toward Syd.
(Before I forget, for any PCs that are injured, you can say that the meal, post-mimic attack, was a short rest and can use a hit die, class feature, potion, or spell to heal. Please let me know if you do so and update your character sheet so I don't accidentally kill anyone due to confusion over HP.)
Cerlinde stumbles over backwards as Mohdrak smashes the swarm away, tripping over some of the fallen books. While she is prone for the moment, at least she won't experience any paper cuts this round.
Cerlinde lies on the floor, catching her breath for a moment. ‘And I thought library work was a safe profession’ she thinks. Sighing, she stands up (costing half movement) and then swings again at the swarming pile of books with her dagger, secretly hoping if she hits any books it’s another smutty novel, not a priceless work on arcana or history…
Dyumi will try to bite one of the books. Attack: 9 Damage: 8 Acid

Meanwhile, Cerlinde has risen and composed herself sufficiently to literally take another stab at the books. She strikes again, demonstrating some unexpected martial prowess. The swarm is reeling at this point.
Following Cerlinde, Dyumi makes an aggressive move, believing that offense is the best defense. He meets the swarm, maw wide open, but fails to connect, likely distracted by Ollezall's fantastic pun. Maybe not the best time for jokes, cleric! Dyumi is now engulfed by the swirling mass and the swarm will attempt to batter him.
Book Club - attack by Swarm 1 vs. Dyumi: 13, damage: 2
Calling upon the wisdom of his Uncle, Syd perceives the proper trajectory for his swing this time, smashing the newly animated literary dervish. Books scatter, their pages fluttering pitifully as they soar through the air. However, this new swarm advances to engulf him and its volumes collide violently with Syd's massive frame.
Book Club - attack by Swarm 2 vs. Syd: 23, damage: 12
Apparently this swarm is carrying some heavy hitters, as a set of encyclopedias all smash into Syd at once. He thanks the gods for choosing to be an orc barbarian!
(Of course, after all my crap rolls, someone would get crit'd. Thankfully it was someone who could take the beating! Looks like you'll get to use one of those potions real soon. Hang in there, Syd!)
As the books slam into Syd's body from all sides, the breath is knocked out of him. "Oof!"
Round 3
He feels a little woozy until Ollezall's spell takes hold of him, repairing cracked ribs and torn flesh. "Oh, that's nice," he smiles, "tingly...." He nods thanks to the cleric.
He attempts to finish off whichever swarm is closest with his hefty greatsword, trying to be as vicious and brutal as a copy editor:
Dyumi draws his staff, which immediately sprouts a ball of heavy vines at the tip. Swinging it like a baseball bat, he attempts to knock a few books out of the levitating mass.
Life is very busy unfortunately, gone from most Pbp's indefinitely. If you'd like to contact me, I am on Discord at GreatAxeblade#7595, always happy to chat :)
Mohdrak more than adequately redeems himself for bowling over the elven wizard by delivering a killing blow to the remaining constituents of the first swarm! The largest volume, seeming to represent the creature's head, explodes into confetti as the rest of the books crash immediately to the ground.
(Round 3)
Ollezall sticks with his tried and true to attack the new swarm . . . and succeeds in mildly irritating an outdated book on organic gardening.
Syd is revitalized thanks to Ollezall's supercharged healing magic and clinically takes the red pen sword to the new swarm, which is still enveloping him. The devastating strike drives the swarm from his body, rewriting the plot if you will.
Dyumi breaks out yet another attacking option, wielding his magically altered staff. Attacking a micro-swarm of terrible poetry books, he finds that it's second verse, same as the first. Or even worse, in this case, as his shillelagh slips from his hand during the swing and clatters against the wall! Dyumi is once again engulfed by a swirling mass as the new swarm attempts to bludgeon him.
Book Club - attack by Swarm 2 vs. Dyumi: 10, damage: 9
(Dyumi dodges a big one! I think we still have Cerlinde and Mohdrak to go in Round 3. Keep up the good work and sorry for the puns!)

Cerlinde attacks the books of bad poetry, again slashing with her dagger, which she has seemed quite skilled with, for a wizard..24 to hit. If hits 5 damage..
