Lia, always an early riser had been up before dawn. She meditated whenever possible at sunrise. It calmed her mind and prepared her body for the day. As she walked towards the loose gathering outside the tavern she smiled and greeted the group with a pleasant “good morning”.
Along with the others she continued to watch the townsfolk and merchants. Perception 15
Durant wakes and says his prayers as his does every morning and gathered his things as quickly as he could so as not to miss the sunrise. He made it outside just as the sky started to change. He closed his eyes as it rose and let the light wash over his face and warm him up. By Ilmater's tears that is welcome
He kept an eye out for his allies, new and old, to come out and wait for the others. He keeps an eye on the travelers of the road, watching for the merchant. (Perception 18 )
"Ho there!" he greets his fellow adventurers as he sees them.
With all the people coming and going, it was hard to keep track of what vendors were setting up and who was selling what. However, once everyone is setup and the traffic dies down, you are able to see that all the various vendors are setup around and close to the center of town. In the center of town, a lone musician, a younger male halfling, is strumming a guitar with a hat laid out for tips. He draws your attention and makes it difficult to pay attention to much else at the initial moment.
Durant, Ignatia, Janek, Lia;
Despite all the people coming and going, you are all able to spot various vendors, even before they setup. Some based what they are wearing, and others based on what was on their carts. All your suspicions on who is there are verified once you see all the carts begin to setup and you watch as other townsfolk buy and sell. The tone of the town is lively and various different characters can be seen wandering the area. Coming from the center of where all the carts are setup, a lone musician, a younger male halfling, is strumming a guitar with a hat laid out for tips.
Some of the carts you see that stand out are as follows.
One cart, ran by a female elf with long golden hair, seems to be selling various food and beverage, ranging from simple water skins and loaves of bread, to wines and stews.
One cart, ran by a scruffy and ruff looking male Dwarf, seems to be selling various armors, but nothing that would draw special attention.
One cart, ran by an older, female gnome, seems to be selling general supplies.
One cart, ran by a much older female human, seems to be doing some sort of palm reading or tarot card readings.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Durant would keep an eye on the carts, especially on the dwarf and older female, as he walks around to enjoy people watching while waiting for the ride. He is a bit surprised with how lively the town has become at the new dawn seeing how quiet it was just yesterday.
Stopping by the musician, he is pleased to see a young one trying to make a living. He listens for a minute and tosses a silver into the hat, "Keep it up lad." he nods approvingly and moves on. He would then stop by the Elf's cart and ask about the wine and stew, and happily pay for a portion. This would be an easy sale for the vendor as food and drink are a bit of weakness for Durant.
He would pass by the Dwarf's stall a few times trying to discretely look across his wares, trying not to be noticed (Stealth 10 )
Eventually the last cart he'd pop by was the older woman's. Walking up and asking, "a bit of a fortune teller eh? well I'd like to see what stands to pass against the likes of me."
Janek watches the dwarf that had come over to their table last evening walk about to the various vendors. He makes no move to join him. He glances to Ignatia and Lia, "When do we go?" He pretty much just stays in place, waiting for the merchant that they are to travel with. He absently gazes down the road that heads out of town.

" Whenever our merchant friend arrives."
Having not a coin to her name she looks at the stalls with a little envy ....
Transfixed by the music coming from the young musicians guitar, Vorser leans against a nearby wall and lets the music wash over him. Enjoying the seldom seen calm of the moment he allows his mind to wander on his travels with Durant and the information he has gathered. Suddenly his mind flashes back to past images of his family and order snapping him out of his stupor only to find that more time had passed than he intended and he needed to return to the meeting place.
He pats himself down, making sure that all his possessions are where they should be. "Why do these visions appear to me now." he mutters to himself, realising now the muscian is playing a familiar song from his childhood, looking over to the halfling he could swear that he was looking directly at him.
He quickly heads back to the inn collecting the rest of his possessions and returns to the meeting point greeting his travel companions with a simple nod.
You easily enough make it through all the vendors, grabbing everything you wanted with little impact on your coin purse. ((Don't worry about subtracting anything.)) As you pass the armor cart a few times, you see various different leathers and chainmail armor, but nothing too special. ((Just stuff you'd find in the Equipment of PHB.))
As you approach the fortune teller you see a much older Human woman, dressed in similar garments as the man who gave you letters the previous night. She waves you over as she sees you eye down her area and motions you to sit down. "Ahh, welcome welcome my young dwarven friend, I am Madam Eva! I see you are interested in the cards and what they might offer. For an adventurer like yourself, it can be a boon, or even a curse to know what lies ahead. Let's take a peek shall we." She shuffles her deck of Tarot cards and lies out 4 cards in a diamond shape, before finally placing the 5th and final card in the middle.
She starts with the first card on the far left of the diamond. She places her hand on top of it. "This card tells of history. Knowledge of the ancient will help you better understand your enemy." She flips it over and revealed to you is the Elementalist. "I see a fallen house guarded by a great stone dragon. Look to the highest peak."
Moving onto the second card at the top of the diamond, she places her hand on top of it. "This card tells of a powerful force for good and protection, a holy symbol of great hope." She flips it over and revealed to you is the Enchanter. "I see a kneeling woman—a rose of great beauty plucked too soon. The master of the marsh knows of whom I speak."
Moving onto the third card at the right of the diamond, she places her hand on top of it. "This is a card of power and strength. It tells of a weapon of vengeance: a sword of sunlight." She flips it over and revealed to you is the Swashbuckler. "I see the skeleton of a deadly warrior, lying on a bed of stone flanked by gargoyles."
Moving onto the fourth card at the bottom of the diamond, she places her hand on top of it. "This card sheds light on one who will help you greatly in the battle against darkness." She flips it over and revealed to you is the Raven. "Find the leader of the feathered ones who live among the vines. Though old, he has one more fight left in him."
Moving onto the final card at the center of the diamond, she places her hand on top of it. "Your enemy is a creature of darkness, whose powers are beyond mortality. This card will lead you to him!" She flips it over and revealed to you is the Innocent. "He dwells with the one whose blood sealed his doom, a brother of light snuffed out too soon."
As Madam Eva finishes up the reading. Finishing with the last card, she gives you a scared look before quickly gathering up all the cards. "I... I'm sorry, I must go... Good luck in your quest!" She quickly turns around and disappears behind some curtains.
Ignatia, Lia, Janek, Vorser;
After about half an hour passes as you all watch the various people come and go. Traffic in the city eventually dies down as everyone does their shopping and you all make your way to the city gate where the merchant said they would be. As you make your way there, you pass Durant who seems to be near the end of his tarot card reading, and as you get to the town gate, you see a man tending to some Oxen, that seem to be leading a, what looks like very beat down cart.
((Lia, I know you didn't respond, so if there is anything you want to have done before leaving, just let me know.))
Durant leaves the tent of the old woman, scratching his beard in confusion. "Never one for divination, right loopy one. Them are some strange premonitions"
he sees the group moving past and catches up to them. "I'll also be walking. We can swap seats when we get tired of hoofing it" Looking over the wagon's sad state he thinks to himself These folks need all the help they can get, by the looks of it
As you all look over the cart, you see that there is enough room for everyone. 4 people can fit in the back and one can fit on the front with the driver. As the driver finishes up setting up the Oxen, he hops up and turns to all of you. "Alrighty folks, we're all ready to go when you are. Hop on up. However, one of you will probably have to sit up here with me, otherwise you will be very uncomfortable back there."
Janek quickly offers Ignatia help, without a word, to get into the back of the wagon. He looks to Lia, to offer her help if she asks, but knows well she likely needs none.
"I can sit with the driver," he says, as he pulls himself up into the seat.
With most everyone on the cart, the driver looks behind and does a quick headcount. Seeing that there appears to be one missing, he shouts out into the crowd for everyone to hear. "We don't have time to wait around for anyone else. So if you're not on, maybe we'll meet up with you at our destination!" With that, he snaps the reins and makes a couple clicking noises. The cart jolts forward, making some of you jerk around in your seats.
The trip itself is fairly easy going. The sun that was beating down slowly turns into overcast skies, the bright orange hue that was in the sky turns into a dull blue. After a couple hours of travel, you all notice that you seem to be heading into a fog and before you know it, you are completely surrounded. The fog is thick and dense, making it difficult to see more than 10ft around you in any direction. During this trip, the driver doesn't say a word, remaining quiet and focused on the road.
After about 10 minutes of traveling through this fog, it finally begins to disperse, making your surroundings more and more clear. But something is off, the dry road that you were on has turned into a muddy roadway with black pools of water, standing like dark mirrors. The occasional scattered tree that you once saw has turned into a thick forest with giant trees looming on both sides of the road, their branches clawing at the fog. As you make your way further away from the fog that seems to be blocking visibility from where you were coming from, you notice giant gates slowly gaining in size.
It definitely doesn't feel as if you are in the same place as you were when you entered the fog.
As you get closer to the gates, you can't help but notice that the fog seems to be blocking your visibility on the way you came, slowly consuming the road behind you until it's movement just stops. Soon after the cart comes to a quick stop, jerking you around once again. The driver turns around and calls out to you all. "Alrighty! This is where I let you off. Where you need to go is just through those gates." He says, pointing in the direction of the gates. "Just be careful, woods are nasty with wolves this time of year. Killed one of my horses a month or so ago." With that, he awaits for you all to get off.
As you look toward the giant gates ahead, you see jutting from the impenetrable woods on both sides of the road, are high stone buttresses looming gray in the fog. Huge iron gates hang on the stonework. Dew clings with cold tenacity to the rusted bars. Two headless statues of armed guardians flank the gate, their heads now lying among the weeds at their feet. They greet you only with silence.
Durant gets out of the wagon, stretching after the journey which felt longer than it likely was. "What a strange place. Feels like we were transported to another realm with all this fog"
Looking towards the gate and the unkempt lands beyond, he has a sense of foreboding. He whispers a short prayer to Ilmater before turning to the group.
"Well, no sense in waiting. I'm ready to see what all the hubbub is about."
Last on the back of the cart, Vorser quickly dismounts offering assistance to anyone behind that may require it.
”Certainly a different atmosphere rounds these parts.” Unsure of the surroundings he focuses his senses on the area to try and identify if there are any threats nearby.
((probably a bit preemptive but will use a Divine Sense charge))
