“The mark of a successful DM is when you have caused more player deaths with doors than dragons, demons, or devils.”
A hulking blue figure clad in an assortment of different metals introduces himself.
"I am Merron, and I have come to fight."
He slaps his thigh, and out of his oversized pack a mechanical dragon leaps into the air... then falls. It has no wings. Merron sighs, then fixes the dragon with a touch.
Merron hails from a long line of expert craftsmen, descended long ago from a blue dragon. They use their lightning breath to forge in a unique style that gives life to their creations. When he was young, he decided to take up the blacksmithing trade after being awed by the masterful creations of a dwarf smith. He trained for years but was unsatisfied with his work, so he decided to seek out a master dwarf to apprentice under.
When he asked the dwarf to make him his apprentice, he had the door slammed in his face. Determined, Merron set up camp right in front of the dwarf's forge. For three days, he worked on a special project, until finally he was done. He knocked again, and asked the dwarf, and showed him his creation: a mechanical dragon, missing wings. The dwarf was impressed by his stubbornness and his new style of smithing, and Merron became his apprentice. After 10 years, he emerged from the dwarf's mountain home, and set up a shop with his newfound skills.
He has come to the arena primarily to test his creations against a variety of fighters. His original mechanical dragon is still at his side, though it has had some modifications over the years.
A slender form opens the door and enters into the tavern. She carries a backpack and a buckler on her back, a long slender sheath hangs at her left side with delicate engravings of leaves etched into it that houses what can only be assumed to be a rapier, and a small hand crossbow hangs next to it. She wears a suit of custom fitted studded leather, and around her neck hangs a silver amulet depicting a bloody blade. She is tall and slender, and almost fragile looking although the hard look on her face proves otherwise. She strides purposefully over to the bar and sits down, ordering a large mug of ale as she does. After a long drink from her mug, she inquires as to joining an arena fight
Name: Silthair Fireblood
Race: Aereni High Elf with customized origin
Class: Oath of Vengeance Paladin
Backstory:
As a young child, Silthair grew up in a small elven village. She had a happy life until a legion of orcs marched into her forest and massacred everyone in her village. As far as she knows, she is the only survivor. She fled far, and eventually encountered a group of paladins. Filled with hatred for those who killed everyone she had ever known and loved, she began to train in the art of a paladin, and took the oath of vengeance. Since then she has taken to fighting in arenas such as the colosseum in order to grow her battle prowess in the hopes of one day exacting her vengeance. Her constant search for new challenges to grow her skill and abilities has led her to the coliseum...
After much mental anguish her magical bandore and long held prize token for some Super Fly Bongos. Then its off to find a nice fountain or corner to practice some poetry!
A heavily armored dwarf arrives. At first glance he appears to be your typical dwarven heavy warrior. But, strangely, he carries a thick tome of spells and the vestments of a man of faith. What does this mean?!
Forge spent much of his childhood being mocked and disrespected for his various interests. However, on the 5th year after his entry into the priesthood, he bore witness to a battle between two planeswalkers and was sucked into another world. Once he was established in his new home, he flourished and eventually found his way here to try and prove his worth.
FYI, the Plate +1 is due to the Forge Cleric ability.
(@LavenderDame: Sorry for the delays. But unfortunately, there are no other level 4 competitors just yet. Once the level 3 match has concluded, level 4 will be after. Your patience is appreciated.)

Having completed clearing the debris out of lesser known and now long forgotten smithy, it was time. Time for Dreadwood, warforged cleric whose eyes and chest jewel faintly glowed orange, to put aside the hammer, and earn some side coin. Though without the expertise of true hunters and gatherers of yore, he took only a book and pent to jot down the venture in hopes of using the details in future exploration.
I have made progress into the eastern forest. I think it is called El'dunah. It is known to have plentiful material, both mundane and more. It is also known to house great beast, who either as a result of the incident that befell the city, or as a consequence of consuming the vegetation, has grown to great size. Their retrieval should be easy enough.
Entry 2 - 3rd Hour Dear Learning Square,
I have failed to find these great beast so far, but have run into plenty of fauna. It is most peculiar. How do beast said to be as large as human man of average conditioning mask themselves so well? It is most vexing. Additionally, it feels as if my path is being altered in some way as I precede deeper into the forest. Nevertheless, I will endeavor.
Entry 3 - 4th Hour Dear Learning Square,
After an hour I have discovered the reason for the obscurement to be the fauna itself. Unfortunately, aggressive measures seem to have backfired, as I am currently being digested by an abnormally large Venus Flytrap. This will significantly delay my hunt. But, I will persist.
Entry 4 - 6th Hour Dear Learning Square,
I have successfully escaped the aggressive fauna after approximately 1 hour, 37 minutes, and 22 seconds. Unfortunately, its internal juices stench that has stained my armor seems to act as a deterrent for the local game. Even given the advantages of entering an Overdrive state to at least keep track of them, and subsequently formulate alternate means of capture. Furthermore, As washing has failed to remove the scent. It would seem I must conclude my hunt here for today, and return to the city to inquire into a remedy.
This Dreadwood signing off for now...
