Darius grit his teeth as Merron's slash dug deep, but he was caught completely by surprise by the magical darts hurled by Fenkas. With a roar, he fell forward onto his knees before collapsing unconscious.
In a bid for a bit of retribution, Fenkas puts Senin's wand to work against his foes, blasting Darius until he falls over. With that, a horn blares and signal fire bolts go out from along the edges of the arena, signaling an end to the match! Constructs and medical staff enter the arena both to stabilize conditions and escorts the defeated to the trauma ward with a backdrop of cheers and applause for having fought valiant against the odds. For their participation and experience garnered in the coliseum, Darius, Sennin, and Nova receive 1200 xp and 160 gp.
The Victors are meanwhile taken below to be patched up and receive their prize on the receding sounds of a crowd's cheers and well wishes!Apium, Fenkas, and Merron earns 1800 xp and 400 gp, and are ready to proceed to the next round as well.
Tier 1:
"Take any one item. We're well equipped." The room contains every item from Chapter 5 of the Player's Handbook weighing 70 pounds or less, armor of varying sizes, instruments, tool kits. There are also spell scrolls, every first level spell is present (as well as spell scrolls of a level for which a magic user of the characters new level would have slots for), and an encyclopedia of knowledge. Reading these books will grant you proficiency with any one tool kit or any one language, depending which book you choose. The books are magically infused to allow easy retention, but the magic is lost once used.
Upper Tier:
The victor may choose instead, an item from a magically infused chest that summons 10 randomly selected magic items to choose from (rarity determined by level). Alternatively they may exchange a magic item for another item of their choosing of the same rarity or lower, if the administrator has the requested item in his extensive collection. "You name it, we've probably got one somewhere."
Fenkas feels a rush of exhilaration at his first victory and upon seeing a spell scroll for the Fly spell, he quickly chooses that out of the chest.
He then walks back home to take a quick rest to be prepared for his next fight. As he leaves the arena, he is smiling to himself at the honor that he brought to his elven ancestors through this victory. By the time he was done with this Coliseum, he will have proven himself to be just as powerful as a full-blooded elf.

The next match will feature any interested level-4 competitors. The match will begin on the Dec 27th. Or sooner, if all level 4 contestants gather before then.
As noon drifts onward to evening in Sel'eman, Arena Shapers and Constructs work around the clock to get the maze up and ready. A few can also be spotted ensuring the finally reconstructed and remodeled Ancients restriction collars are 100% operational. Can't have another unexpected rampage throughout the city again...
To win: 3...Castle Defense - Defeat a powerful enemy on your opponent's side of the map. Defend your castle, defeat your enemy's, or eliminate your opponents to win.
The conditions: 3... Dusk - The setting sun casts long rays of shadow across the arena. Checks relying on sight will suffer disadvantage without the use of Darkvision.
The Map: 11...You stand in an impressive hedge maze. The leaves are a vibrant green, and the garden is dotted with tall trees and bright flowers. Some of the walls are constructed of stone bricks, offering more effective cover.

Fenkas trots into the arena smiling and cracks his whip in the air as he prepares his pre-battle spells. This time, he had left his studded armor at home, having picked up a couple new tricks along the way. He had created a weightless magical barrier on himself first thing in the morning and took a quick nap afterwards to regain the spell slot. Upon arriving in the arena, he quickly begins to duplicate himself until there were three clones of him standing close by. Like a well trained conductor, Fenkas hums a starting note and the three clones quickly pick up in harmony as a powerful elven melody begins to rise above the cheers and jeers of the crowd. Meanwhile, Syldorn flies 20 feet above the half elf circling and assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the other fighters from a bird's eye view.
(OOC: How tall are the hedges? Asking in case Syldorn wants to fly over instead of through them... Another question about healing potions... I am assuming that we cannot stack healing potions that we saved from previous fights?)
Before the Fight: Cast Mage Armor and take a Short Rest using Arcane Recovery to regain the spell slot.

"Carrying on the growing tradition of combine blade and elven song in the arena. Or in this case, a WHIP! Is none other than Fenka!" A half-wood elf man with a whip in one hand, an owl above, and some pep in his step along two other illusory brothers.
"Next up and ready to unleash the cold fury of the most chilling winter, I present to you Glacia!" A silver scaled dragonborn bearing a fine wooden shield and hide armor steps up at the staging gates.

Sylmyar make sure Syldrom never sees the arrow before its too late. Though with her position exposed after all the same from the twang of the bow, she hops down and retreats.
Glacia and advances and prepares something diabolical.
Merron and Tinfollows suit, adding their own preparations.
Apium moves up 10 feet, then flies to between F10 and F11 (20 feet of movement), and casts guiding bolt at Sylmyar (I assume 25 feet up and at F10 is enough to target Sylmar, would there be cover? For now, I will roll regularly.) He then moves down 20ft, behind the hedge. With his bonus action, he commands the spiritual weapon to move to H10 and attack the air, as if taunting the other team.
Move: Up 10 ft, 15 ft forward, 5 ft diagonal to between F10 and F11. He then move 20 ft down.
Action: guiding bolt at Sylmyar. Attack: 7 Damage: 21. (I will wait to see if Sylmyar has any cover before declaring if I'm using my channel divinity or not.)

Fenkas catches Syldorn as he falls from the sky and dissipates in his hands. Crying out internally, Fenkas calms his mind to stay focused on the task at hand and clicks his heels together, turning himself into a blur of movement as he slips into the shadows before dashing forward. Screeching to a halt right before plunging into a spiky tangled patch of grass, Fenkas calls out to the rest of his team to notify them of the danger, before carefully skirting around it and crashing through the rest of the bushes to come out on the opposite side of the arena directly adjacent to the enemy that killed his precious Syldorn.
Action: Hide - Stealth Roll: 7 (OOC: If that pitiful roll manages to beat anyone's PP then please ignore this... Otherwise, I am just going to post here because I am pretty sure that fails.)

Banrum is a large, hulking Goliath brandishing a large axe that he's prepared to use on anyone who shows even a mild sign of rivalry to him. He wears a breastplate, and he never takes it off, being unnecessarily cautious of anything and anyone. He has a dagger on his belt if his axe fails him, which will finish his victims off in a quick stab. He is ready to kill his enemies by any means possible, even if they're gruesome, morally disgusting or heartless and cold.

Key: '#' Hedges, '=' High wall (8ft.), '€' Tree, '%' Door, '.' Grass, 'A-Z' Contestants, 'a' Spiritual Weapon, 'SS & NN' Side Objective Constructs, 'x' Spike Growth Edge, '?' Grease
(Passing through the hedges in any direction is difficult terrain costing an extra 5 feet of movement. The hedges heavily obscure anything beyond them. A creature may attack through the hedges, but this will grant the target a bonus of 2 to AC.)
(S/N: Dusk - The setting sun casts long rays of shadow across the arena. Checks relying on sight will suffer disadvantage without the use of Darkvision. Additionally, the Constructs will act at the end of their team's turn.)
Contestants:
Team(1):
Merron(M): HP (31/31)+THP(4/4) - Conc. on and Affected by Heroism.

Stealth 17
Sylmyar moves into the Arena
Elven Accuracy Attack roll on Syldorm the owl
Attack 18 Damage: 13
Glacia moves up the D4 and casts spike growth on I4 so that it will not affect her party's mobility.
Merron will move to C3 and cast grease (DC 14) across H5, H6, I5, and I6.
Tin will move to D3 and dodge. If an attack targets Merron, Tin will use their deflect attack to impose disadvantage on the attack roll.
Sylmyar make sure Syldrom never sees the arrow before its too late. Though with her position exposed after all the same from the twang of the bow, she hops down and retreats.
Glacia and advances and prepares something diabolical.
Merron and Tin follows suit, adding their own preparations.
It is now Team(2)'s Turn! Map Updated Here!

Forge moves to J11 if he can make it and casts guidance on himself. Hawky stays next to him behind the 8ft wall.
Forge - Arena Wizard Tank
Bonus Action: Command the spiritual weapon to move to H10.
When players get creative.
Action: Hide - Stealth Roll: 7
(OOC: If that pitiful roll manages to beat anyone's PP then please ignore this... Otherwise, I am just going to post here because I am pretty sure that fails.)
Bonus Action: Cast Expeditious Retreat - Dash
Move: K14 --> L13 --> --> L12 --> L11 --> L10 --> L9 --> --> L8 --> L7 (9 Sqaures: 45 Feet Used Total)
(OOC: --> --> Indicates diagonal movement that requires ten feet or movement through a hedge)
Perception (To notice Spike Growth): 19
Free Action: Fenkas shouts out to the group to inform them of the Spike Growth that he noticed just before stepping into it.
Move: L7 --> M7 --> --> M6 --> M5 --> --> M4 --> M3 --> --> M2 (9 Sqaures: 90 Feet Used Total)
End Position: M2

(The post is tagged as public and recruiting, but it seems to already have started. I don't know if you just forget to change the tag or something but just in case this is my character)

(OOC: Please read the original post to see why it is tagged as public and recruiting! This is an arena style combat game and so all of the arenas that combat is happening are tagged as recruiting so that anyone who is interested knows to go back to the original thread (linked in the first comment and here) and post there character (rules for character creation listed). Once a battle for level 3s is announced, you can participate at that point... I will let @Orileo clear up any more confusion if you have any)
