After Apocalypse - Liavyre WithrethinElf Ranger
Dragon of Autumn - Geoff Krowly Human Cleric
Princes of the Apocalypse -Leofir SylvaranthElf Rogue
The Windhovers' Call -Xellos Mazoku Tiefling Sorcerer
We begin our adventure with our five heroes sitting in a well decorated but, not very large room. Looking around they see two doors, one that they entered through, and one directly opposite of that, four small windows on the walls, and four seats directly across the table from them. They have been sitting here for well over an hour but, they are waiting for some very important people; the King and Queen of the Elves. Each of our adventures has received a letter asking for their assistance in rescuing the kidnapped Prince. Finally, after much waiting, the door on the other opens and four individuals walk in. Two of them are in robes of blue and gold bearing a gold crown on their heads the male carrying a staff and the female a rod. Without a doubt, you know this is King and Queen Sylvaranth. The other behind them do not seem like nobility in the slightest. The one is obviously a warrior in silver and red carrying a bow. It looks like he has recently recovered from some serious injuries. The other is an old elf, perhaps the oldest elf you have ever seen, she has gray wispy hair and wears blues and silvers that seem like they have seen better days.
Upon entering a voice seemingly from nowhere announces, "Please welcome, High King and Queen of the Elves Carric and Lia Sylvaranth, Personal BodyGuard to the Crowned Prince Rolen Aloro, and High Diviner to the King and Queen Faral."
Upon hearing their introductions each individual takes a seat and finally King Sylvaranth "Welcome adventures, we are so happy that you have answered our call. We simply cannot thank you enough for it. Before we discuss the details please tells us a little more about you." He then patiently waits as each of you introduces yourselves.
Teagan dressed in her finest traveling clothes of black and sliver. She wears a long black cloak with the hood covering her long pale blue hair. Her hair is in a fish tale braid hiding under her hood. Her bright blue eyes are looking around the room from under her hood. She nervously plays with a dagger in her black leather gloved hands. She was sitting against one of the walls then stands and bows to the king and queen as they enter. She is trying hard not to show her nervousness. She prays she doesn’t babble endlessly about nothing.
In a even toned voice she introduces herself,”Hello your majesty’s. Thank you for the honor and your faith that I may be at your service. I’m Teagan Fallon. I’m a wood elf and water Druid. I’m here to help in anyway I can.”
Dax quietly strums his Lute while leaning against a Pillar as he listens to Introductions. Dax has never really been a big fan of Social Conventions, but if money is involved, Dax can't help but be interested. His half Elf Heritage makes him slightly uneasy in the current situation.
He takes a deep breath before saying in a formal deep voice, "Elen síla lúmenn' omentielvo" meaning 'a star shines on the hour of our meeting' in Elvish. He tries to keep his voice from lilting too softly in the elven language. His Accent must be terrible, but to me surrounded by so many elves...well, best to blend in.
Nodding his Head to the Elven Druid smiling, he then speaks in Common as she did, "Nice to meet you, My Name is Dax."
Honor Blackwell was always standing in the room looking around it with curious interest. She stands six foot high with horns that sweep back in her black hair from her forehead that are a muted black. Her skin is a dull red like brick and her eyes are two perfect golden orbs. They dart curiously around the room at its inhabitants. Honor is wearing worn but well made traveler's clothes in dark muted tones of gray and green as well as a gray cloak. She has dull black scale mail and a finely carved bow producing form a gray leather quiver with arrows fletched in owlbear feathers collected into a bunch. She hasn't spoken a word to anyone else in the room but once she sees the elves enter she bows low and utters a greeting in a husky tone her accent distinctly foreign to any you've ever heard almost slavic in nature. "I offer my service and my loyalty," she says coming up from her bow. "May we find your beloved prince quickly," she adds scanning the faces before her.
Insight 10 for a general read of their surface feelings.
A massive, hulking Goliath sits uncomfortably in the undersized chair for his frame. He is wearing black splint armor and has a massive greatsword on his back. The blade, with finely crafted runes upon the hit, shines and twinkles as light reflects off of it, revealing it has been infused with silver. He also carries an ordinary, but sturdy looking crossbow, longsword, and a dagger that is strapped to one of his boots.
Rather than having traditional Goliath tribal tattoos, he appears to have very unusual geometric patterns and shapes on his arms and head, including runes in a language different from Common. The tattoos glimmer and sparkle as if they are not made from mere ink, but rather gold, silver, and other rare metals. There appears to be fragments of small gems and precious stones set within his tattoos as well. He has no hair and his skin is pale as if he's seen very little sunshine. In fact, nearly everything about his gear and appearance is very unusual for Goliaths.
Ogoth Kinshield, he knows why he is here. He is here because he must. Hearing their story, he gives a pained look on his face, then says in a very deep voice, "I, Ogoth Kinshield, pledge to search for the Prince, even at the cost of my life. I know the pain he must be feeling, being separated from his kin. Like yourselves, I also am searching for something at any cost, however that is another matter." Ogoth stands up, puts his right arm across his chest and bows, "I will accept this task given to me. Someone with physical prowess to shield his allies and the Prince from harm will be needed." The floorboards and chair creaks loudly as he shifts back to sit down in his chair again.
A tall man with a well groomed beard sits at the end of the table. His yellow eyes gleam with a slight glow and dark, smooth and skin reflects but a bit of the flickering candlelights from the table. He gives a slight smile, barely enough to show the pearly white teeth underneath his lips.
He pulls and hand through the wavy hair on his head. "My liege, I am your most humble servant throughout this quest." He gives a bow of irony, overly flamboyant and polite, mockingly imitating the usual manners you usually show royalty. "If i may introduce myself.. My name is Celus, I have come to prove myself to be a noble man, both to myself and my home. Because i am just that, a noble man. Not of birth, but of heart!"
After each of you has given your introduction King Carric speaks up again "Well, it is a...pleasure to meet all of you and we cannot truly express how grateful we are that you have accepted our request. As you already know the Crowned Prince, our son, has been kidnapped by the Drow. Your mission is simple, go into the Underdark and retrieve him. On the return of our son, you will be rewarded with 1 magical item from out vault or Gold of equal value to one of our items. Now Rolen and Faral have some information to aid you. If you have any further questions please ask them." King and Queen Sylvaranth quickly leave the room, the Queen looking like she cannot bear to be in the room any longer as her son is being talked about it. You all get the feeling that she assumes that he died.
After the two leave the male warrior speaks up. "Here is a picture of the Crowned Prince." He says as he pulls out a small pocket-sized portrait of him
"His name is Lucan Sylvaranth. We were traveling back from a diplomatic meeting with the Dwarves when we were attacked. They came in the middle of the night and slaughtered over half of his guard to get to him. There were Drow Warriors and Mages and even a Priestess to their wretched Spider Goddess. It's like they knew that he'd be there and that they had to get him no matter what. I tried to defend him but I was overpowered. He told me to flee. I shouldn't have listened to him. I should have stayed. I should have defended him with my last breath. Then he'd be here and I'd be there." Rolen eventually just goes quiet.
After a minute or two of silence, the old elf women speaks up "Well, I guess its time for me to share what I know. As high diviner as soon as we knew of this incident, about a week after it happened, that's how long it took Rolen to get back to us, I began attempting to scry on him. It wasn't easy. The Drow must have put some anti-scrying measures up because I only caught glimpses of them. They took him first through some type of forest; it looked almost Fey in nature but wasn't like any Fey forest I've seen. Then they went through some sort of spider sanctuary where there were half-drow half-spider monstrosities. And the final image was them taking him to a different place then all the other prisoners. They said they had some sort of special treatment for him. I wish I could be more help but I haven't been able to see anything since that last image and that was three days ago. Please, the King and Queen are in distress and need your help. Please retrieve the Lucan for them. Now, do you have questions."
This is for Honor's Insight Check:
You just get a general feeling of sadness from all of the elves. It's particularly strong in the Queen as if her son is dead. With Rolen, you also sense anger with his sadness.
Ogoth, feeling internally annoyed that Rolen should have indeed stayed and defended Lucan to preserve his honor as a soldier despite the Prince's desire to protect him — lightly rubs the top of his bald head and thinks to himself, "At least the cowardly fool knows his fleeing was wrong. A soldier should never abandon his charge, despite Lucian's noble intentions. At least he stayed until he was wounded, I suppose. Hmm...was the Prince wounded, where is this forest? It sounds like a very organized, coordinated attack."
However, recognizing Rolen's anguish, feeling a slight bit of pity for him, and being respectful of the situation says to both Rolen and Faral, "I have some questions. Do either of you know if the Prince was wounded at all? If he was wounded then we may not have much time." Ogoth turns his gaze to Rolen and says, "I know you cannot know about Prince Lucian's condition currently, but you need to remember if he was wounded before he ordered you to flee."
He then turns to Faral, "Please tell us anything more about this forest. I do not know much about the nature or history of Fey, but if you know a possible location, any landmarks to help us identify the location of the sanctuary, or any details about the forest — what type of trees, was it heavily wooded, did it look cold or have mountains nearby, possible direction from here, anything unique at all?"
Ogoth pauses for a brief moment, and concludes with, "I hope you don't mind me asking these questions, as a Soldier, I need to know as many details as possible. The more information we have, the better chances we have of completing our objective."
Ogoth then turns to his companions and awaits to see if they have questions, knowing his knowledge of religious practices, history, and anything arcane is limited. "They wouldn't volunteer for a mission like this unless they knew the chances for their own deaths was high. If they fight along side me, I will protect them, even if it kills me. I wonder how they will conduct themselves when engaged in battle to protect another? That's the true test of character," Og thinks to himself as he gives a quick glance to the twinkling tattoos on his arms.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Would Honor know anything about the Drow in this area since they are her favored enemy and the Underdark is her favored terrain? Is there any sort of known Drow sanctuary/empire that Rolen is speaking about in the area? History 10 Survival 7 I can re-roll with advantage if my ranger abilities apply.
Hearing the elven woman speak of what she saw in a scry, I attempt to recall any information regarding a strange Fey like forest in my travels.
Nature Check - 10
"I suppose we can follow the original route until we get to the exact place the prince was taken. Then the ranger can track them. Hopefully anyway." Dax says more to himself than the room. "Yes, I think that would be the best course of action here."
Rolen replies to Og after thinking for a minute before replying "No, he wasn't injured. I think they were attempting to take him alive and unharmed. It was like they knew who he was but, for some reason didn't want to harm or kill him." After another second he says "I can lead you to where we were ambushed, however, I cannot go with you five. I'm still injured and exhausted from the first confrontation and would only slow you down."
Faral then speaks up saying "The woods were dense but also not at the same time. It was definitely an area where the Feywild and our plane cross. They were definitely in the Underdark and they were not surrounded by any Fey creatures I knew of no Dryads or Satrys or even Pixies. As for landmarks well, the Drow did mention stopping by at some hut where three sisters lived in the Fey Woods. But, I cannot think of any other landmarks to mark the woods. As for where the slaves are usually found I think your tiefling friend has some insight on that." Faral finishes with a slight smile towards Honor.
Honor
You don't know of any major Drow empires within the area specifically. You do know how to spot caves that the drow use to go into and out of the Underdark so once in the area you can locate the specific cave they used.
OraKaye
You know the Fey is a different plane of existence that is close to ours. You know that Pixies and Sprites come from it. Other than that not much more than the average person.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Og listens to Rolen's words, and says to him, "Well, you are correct about that. You need to recover from your injuries so when we return, you will be ready to guard Prince Lucan again. However, any other assistance that you're able to provide is appreciated and makes our chances of success that much better," hoping to restore a little confidence within Rolen that possibly may have been lost from his experience.
Listening to Dax's words, Og nods his head and agrees, "Yes, that probably is the best option that we have. Once Rolen shows us exactly where the ambush took place, we simply follow the trail at that point. Hopefully, we might find some clues that will lead us to the forest or to someone who knows more about the location of forest that Faral speaks of along the way."
Turning to Honor after hearing Faral say she might have some insight, Og says, "What more can you tell us? Now is probably the best time to set up a plan if anyone has any other ideas."
Og then thinks to himself to see if there is any insight he can offer to everyone from hearing rumors or soldier tales about the Underdark or the Fey woods to get a better idea of how or where to proceed after Rolen identifies the ambush site. Insight: 6
Dax looks the massive Goliath up and down taking in his massive form. He has already shown quite a good deal of leadership qualities and this sparks Dax's Interest.
"Tell me Ogoth, Where do you hail from? I wish to know more about my traveling companions. Have you much experience with rescuing Princes in distress? I myself can't say as much, but it would be good to have someone experienced in this sort of thing."

Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
Hearing the elven woman speak of what she saw in a scry, I attempt to recall any information regarding a strange Fey like forest in my travels.
