Clomp. Clomp. Clomp. Withertoe's yelling an obscene threat about what he'll do when he catches whoever's screwing around out there. Those of you with Darkvision can see Withertoe through the trees, 60 feet away and hobbling closer.
Round 1: Anyone who wishes may perform checks to look for more details: Investigation or Arcana on the smoking crater where Grilda was standing, Perception for general surroundings or to see if you can spot anybody besides Withertoe through the trees, Survival to check for tracks or look for other things you may have missed in the environment. And of course, Hide, Attack, Ready or Dodge if you'd like to fight Withertoe. His Speed is 20 ft., so you have until the end of Round 3 before he reaches you, thanks to your saves.
Darksniffer scuttles among the branches of his tree, reeling out the rope from his burglar's pack. He loops and fastens a noose, drooping it down in waiting, then whistles slightly, just enough tl be enticingly unatural.
(Stealth 14, Deception 8, Perception (for good measure) 9. Wow...lowest mod of the 3 is +5 and I get that...)

Ash had been hiding, trying to determine what was going on when everything blew.
He takes a quick look around to see if he can use something as a distraction. Seeing Withertoe coming sent mixed feeling to him. Flee or fight. He knew the hobgoblin was one of the bad ones.
The crater smolders, and there are a few sparks flitting around. To Yurk's eye, perhaps counter-intuitively, the spell's aftermath bears some of the hallmarks of a conjuration spell.
Og begins to examine the mimic. He can see no trace of Grilda on the mimic's exterior, but it doesn't take him long to notice that the mimic has stopped howling and seems to be sniffing at the woods nearby. Looking in that direction, Og spots a hidden tiefling with dark red skin, orange eyes and grey hair. Og had seen him around camp — Ash, maybe? Ash had been observing the meeting. From what Og remembered of Ash, neither Gullek nor Withertoe would have trusted him enough to put him on patrol.
Scanning the underbrush, Ash spots something half-hidden in a bush: A sewn bladder of some sort, about the size of a grapefruit. Something's written on it in Common. It wasn't there a second ago — it must have flown out of Grilda's pack in the explosion. Ash looks up to see Og looking right at him.
Withertoe's ears pick up at the whistle, and he changes course slightly to march dead toward Darksniffer's tree. "I see you, half-orc! I see you, tortle! And I know you're not alone! Get back to your bedrolls, or I'll split you longways!" His eyes are fixed on on Yurk, but he keeps walking in the direction he heard the whistle. He is now 40 feet away.
Round 2: Yahg still has a Round 1 action. I'm not sure whether you guys are meaning to spread checks over multiple rounds, but keep in mind moving forward that performing a check takes your action. Good descriptions, though! I love it!
(Nice work on the map :) sorry, working by mobile, so spoilers are a bit clunky to use. I typically use ( ) for OOC chatter and keep it separated from the rest for clarity. I realize now my hangman's tree idea was thought out short of mechanical performance. How do I ensure that it lands on Withertoe? How does damage work? My vision was to jump from the tree with the rope once he's caught, but a goblin is obviously lighter. Physics would dictate that he would be strung up, but not lifted very far, if at all. Shall we consider him grappled (no movement)? Would the weight of the drop and, providing I can get help to maintain the rope, resulting force cause him to take damage for strangulation?)

If he keeps headed toward the hidden rope (if nobody else draws his attention) and gets tangled up in it, I say he'll be restrained but will break free on a DC 15 Athletics check. You can do a sneak attack from the trees (or any time, really, since restrained grants advantage). Having the rope lift him enough to cause strangulation might be beyond your Strength, though, unless you can think of something else.
Ash comes out of hiding hands stretch out in a none threatening manner. He is going to move to the bladder waiting for Og to see what he is doing and then slowly picking it up.

(We do have a wonderfully powerful half-orc here as well :) Unless that Halfling-size axe has Finesse :P)

(This hangman tree idea is very interesting in its potential, but a goblin is a poor weight for stringing up victims. Will need to buy a few portable pulley wheels to compensate :) )

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Yurk moves slightly behind Darksniffers tree trying to lure Withertoe into the goblin's trap. He takes out his shield and yklwa, banging them together to attract the Hobgoblin's attention. "HEY! UGLY! OVER HERE!"

Wasn't sure if persuasion or intimidation made more sense, I have -1 on all CHA rolls, so the result would be the same.
