With a finely carved walking stick in one hand, a sword strapped across his back in a custom sheathe, and thick, green cloak clasped around his neck, Stonewall has the look of someone well-used to the road.
He raises a gloved hand to wipe a bead of sweat from his brow. He has been walking for hours, and certainly feels the weight of his armour with every step. But to him it's a small price to pay for being prepared for an attack at any moment. Especially while on a road to dangerous land.
Though he'd set out early in the morning on the road to Last Hope, he must have been slacking in his pace because before long he can see small, loose group of people on the road behind him, closing the distance. He is not surprised to see a centaur, given the territory. Rather, it is the other travelers that catch his attention. For so many non-centaurs to be making their way to Last Hope, Stonewallcan only reach one conclusion.
He stops and turns to face the incoming group. "Are you the others summoned by Baron Hezzut von Baraskin? It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. You can call me Stonewall." He stiffly holds out a hand for a handshake, directed at no one in particular, and then reconsiders, clearly feeling a little awkward.
“Well met fellow traveler!” A female halfling reaches up to grasp his hand and pump it up and down vigorously. “Yes, I have been summoned as well, hope we can all provide the help this town needs and beyond! My name is Bremita Goodearth, so pleased to meet you!”
"Ahh, um, did you say Baron Baraskin?" A grey Harengon with tall, attentive ears and a backpack as big as he is approaches Bremita and Stonewall. He looks about tentatively, and with a slight sniff of his nose, he follows up with "I, uhh, take it you're traveling to Last Hope too? I'm Jerius, by the way." Jerius glances around and is suddenly distracted by a man adorned with the image of a flying pig.
"You all are traveling to Last Hope too?" A young human male leaning against the wall smiles widely. "It is a pleasure to meet all of you, my name is Aldrith."
Bremita looks around at her current traveling companians, brushes off her dust covered traveling clothes and contemplates her decision to leave her inn for this. She received this letter requesting help from Baron Baraskin and why did she answer? Her friend Ostani. She has to remember that, as she left her Inn with Adrian, and that probably wasn’t the best decision, but what choice did she have? She just has to get to Last Hope, assist as she is able and get back home.
“Jerius, so nice to meet you! I hope you don’t mind me prying, but are you a harengon? I have never come across one in my time and I must say it is pretty exciting to meet one in the flesh!” Then Bremita turns her attention to the human that just joined the group, “Aldrith, pleasure to meet you as well!” She starts thinking to herself, man a lot of tall ones around me, I suppose my neck better get used to this! She started missing the step stool she always used behind the bar.
Trying to be as inclusive as she knows how to be, being in hospitality after all she finally approaches the centaur that is towing a wagon full of goods, “Excuse me good sir, and who might you be? And not to assume all centaurs know each other, but I was wondering if you happened to know my friend Ostani? And have you been traveling long?”
Stonewall nods to Aldrith and Jerius. "I didn't realize so many would answer the call. That's good. Safety in numbers 'n all. Anyone know anythin' more about this blight we're to be dealin' with?"
"No, I'm sorry I don't really know much more about that than you." Aldrith nods towards the centaur merchant and the halfing heading towards the centaur, "Do you know if he is the person who called us here?"
You're not in Last Hope, you are just setting out from the previous town, Goodfields, so the Baron is not likely here. Unless he has disguised himself as a merchant and gone to a different town to spy on you.
Centauri nobles tend to dress in flashy military or military style uniforms, their hair worked into elaborate crests. The merchant is dressed quite plain.

Stonewall sizes up the centaur. "Hmm, I'm none too familiar with centaur barons, but I'm plenty versed in merchants. If I were to guess, I'd say he strikes me as the latter." Hearing Bremita questioning the centaur, Stonewall listens in to see what he can learn.
