Evy tries to back up as it approaches, but it closes the gap before she can get her distance. Instead, she digs deep into her infernal heritage, and the appearance of her form shifts, until she appears as the demogorgon in front of her.
Action:Disguise Self (per Legacy of Dis racial feature). DC 14 to disbelieve.
Notes: Welp. Disguise Self does not hold up to physical inspection (taller than real and a hand passes through the extra bit), and I am guessing smell inspection, either. Here's hoping it is dumb? Really dumb, since a DC 14 is not that hard... if it even comes to that (it may be that multiple demogorgons attack each other, too?). Still haven't looked up the stat block (that would be uncool) so I don't know what we have done wrong here, except perhaps not running away and leaving Sir Tristan high and dry right from the start? Have a healing potion, but can't get it to Val. Val is our damage dealer, and it seems to have healed much of what he may have done to it, so that leaves Evy high and dry. If 31 hp didn't do it, she's not gonna get better than that.
Eh. The more I think about that, the less I think that is going to work. A its best it asks the DM to be kind, and that seems like a cheap ploy.
Evy screams again, all the rage in her coming out and, pulls again at the Weave. She'll go down fighting, like Val.
Action: Cast 2nd level Chaos Bolt at the flowerhead (at Disadvantage for being at melee range). 17 to hit, for 23 ...
...wait for it...

At point blank range, Evy conjures another mass of chaos magic. As it makes contact with the creature, it explodes into a solid block of sound. The creature's chest caves in, and it crumples to the ground. Almost immediately, she once again sees it moving. As it stands, she watches in disbelief. The creature's chest appears to return to its normal shape as its neck had before. It rises and immediately attacks her.
Having watched the creature attack her cousin, she is able to anticipate the creature's movements. It does seem to be slightly slower this time, also. She ducks and dodges, and no harm comes to her ... this time.
OK, players may play.
Mingo, aside from forgetting to roll the first attack against Val with advantage, I have done everything as I should. It might be helpful if you went back and took a look at each of the turns to see something that could be very helpful. I'm hoping the adventure doesn't end here. If any two of those attacks had hit, you'd be unconscious right now.
(Oh, I’m well aware. And I don’t blame you at all. Evy has been… less effective than I expected, in terms of character design. Lessons to be learned. Her best feature is that she’s incredibly lucky, in terms of die rolls! That’s, um, not sustainable, shall we say. ;)
Question: feeding a healing potion to an u conscious person is what kind of action? An Action, right? Not a Bonus Action?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(OOC: I am not sure if I can try to help here or not, since Val is down, but in case some OOC theorizing from my part is welcomed/allowed, then the thought in the spoiler below might be helpful, I hope. Ignore the spoiler below if not appropriate.)
Could it be the first fire attack from Evy? Val could have been super dumb in telling Evy not to use fire. His INT score is quite low, after all!
If not fire, maybe it was the initial distraction? Like, mental distraction/damage is its weakness? I'm grasping at straws here.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC > Yeah, I've been re-thinking the fire thing, too. Regeneration is typically (in trolls, at least) countered by fire or acid, and this isn't a troll but maybe its consistent with that? Evy has a fire spell, but it does just 1d10. Chaos Bolt has the random potential to do fire or acid damage (range of 4-28 hp), and I've been hoping for that to come up, but I may have been foolhardy in that. So, potion is not an option, Evy won't survive an attack of opportunity, and she can't Disengage and run away from it, it can at the very least keep up with her. The options as I see them are, Firebolt, but I think it will take more than one, or trying another Chaos Bolt, as the only option for putting it down in one go, but only if she gets lucky. I am afraid her (my) luck has run out. Oh, and both of her attacks are at Disadvantage at melee range. Hrm. So... if tactically it's a wash, then maybe I fall back on What Would Evy Do? She would spit at it and then bite it if that was all that was left to her. So...
Evy knows she is on borrowed time, and while her brain is racing, it is her boiling blood that drives her. Always has. How dare this thing end her life?! She is going to decide when and how she dies! She screams right in its flower face and grabs again at the Weave, hauling hard on the strands of magic and forcing them to her will, sticking her hands right in its face and letting loose with everything she has.

OOC > Maybe I should have taken the infernal legacy that came with Burning Hands. ;) I should note that one of the reasons I now believe fire (or acid) might work is that it recovered even after not biting Evy, so it does not appear to be a vampiric sort of regeneration, just a "run of the mill" sort of regeneration.
Oh, and it has occurred to me that two might not be a good number for a party! :D
OOC: Whether it is fire/acid or psychic, Val could not have dealt that type of damage, so it was never in the cards for him. I thought it would be interesting to pick the one type of tiefling that specializes in cold damage to the point it doesn't even get hellish rebuke, and we might be paying the price for that now. I had my fingers crossed for one of those Wild Magic rolls to save us but what are the chances of that?!
OOC: And yes, I agree, the game is definitely not designed with a party of two in mind! 😁

Oof. So close. 19, 19, and 20 vs an AC of 18. But, this ain’t horseshoes.
I just looked up the stat block, and I see what went wrong. Advantage against someone not at full hp. Yow. Even if she had made it one more round after taking some damage, she was never making it another. Also, yeah, fire. I wonder if she’d kept pummeling it with Firebolts if that would have worked. At an average of 5 hp damage each round, and a not insignificant chance to miss, I’d say no.
Ah well. It was fun!

Wow! Nice. This is obviously not the ending we were hoping for but a TPK feels oddly fitting here, at least to me. The cousins just sort off pranced in here with an air of "Yeah, time to kill this thing so we can go kill that other thing" and got pummeled by hubris (at least Val kinda did.) This was sudden and unforgiving, and yet, I read these last few posts with a smile on my face. It is a weird feeling.
Also, nice baiting with Val bleeding himself to summon the enemy so that he never had full HP for this fight. Great stuff.
It was indeed quite fun. Thanks for another cool game.

Here's another DEATH save for Val: 9
At point blank range, Evy conjures another mass of chaos magic. As it makes contact with the creature, it explodes into a solid block of sound. The creature's chest caves in, and it crumples to the ground. Almost immediately, she once again sees it moving. As it stands, she watches in disbelief. (Bite Attack: 25 Damage: 8 piercing damage; Claw Attack: 23 Damage: 11; Claw Attack: 10 Damage: 8 slashing damage)
No advantage is correct this time.
Having watched the creature attack her cousin, she is able to anticipate the creature's movements. It does seem to be slightly slower this time, also. She ducks and dodges, and no harm comes to her ... this time.

Feeding a potion is an action. Drinking your own potion is a bonus action. I'm perfectly happy with table talk.

The creature rips into Evy. Blood flies and unconsciousness overtakes her as all three attacks land upon her soft skin.
The demogorgon finishes off the twins. The thessalhyrdra — unconquered — continues to terrorize Sir Tristan's territory. It's not a happy ending.
