Mohdrak stepped forward, interposing himself between the creatures and the others, and brought down his morningstar with a mighty swing, aiming it at the head of the one Cerlinde engaged with.
The two rats leap forward, teeth bared, but are immediately met with a hail of damaging attacks. One of the beasts slumps to the floor, twitching in its death throes. The other yelps as one of Durnik's handaxes lodges firmly in his side. Seeing its comrade expire, it turns tail and flees eastward, carrying the axe with it. It chitters and squeals, leaving a trail of dark blood on the wooden floor.
Your party follows close behind, but is not quite able to catch up before the animal disappears down through a 4 foot hole in the floor, which with your new perspective you recognize is likely a normal sized knot hole in a wood plank.

very warily, zithers, being small enough to fit inside peeks his head through to check if theres enough room to crawl through, (I am pretty sure his Darkvision is enough to see by with the light coming through from the other side, but if needed perception is 16), and if there is no immediate danger and enough room to crawl in, he has a look around as long as no one in the party objects.
Looking down through the hole, you notice a short drop, about 8 feet down, into a tunnel running roughly north and south. The trail of blood leads south. The dimensions of the tunnel are about 6 feet wide by 7 feet tall (Mohdrak might have to stoop a bit), only wide enough for single file travel. Listening closely, Amelia hears scraping and the far-off squeaking of the wounded rat. The smell isn't great, either.
Cerlinde says “should we follow- to get your axe back at least? We’re likely going to need it. Then… I guess we need to figure out how to get big again..”.
Cerlinde gets a rope out of her pack and says-” I have this, we can lower ourselves down. Or, I suppose Mohdrak could just boost us down there! I don’t know about you, but I’m going to try to learn and enjoy everything I can about this experience in the world of the small- while also working on how we get big again. My last adventure it went quite well even though we were trapped for a while and not certain we would ever escape. Let’s try to stay optimistic. We do have a masterful chef with us. “ she smiles at Mohdrak.
Amelia looks at Cerlinde. "You're quite the optimist, aren't you?"
'It's part of her charm.'Mohdrak laughed in appreciation of the compliment Cerlinde had given him. 'We're healthy, we know where we are and we have a plan going forward. That's a win in my book at the moment.'
The minotaur looked at the rat hole and tried not to be too bothered by the smell. From the looks of it he would have to crouch to keep his horns from scraping the tunnel's ceiling. It would impede his manoeuvrability but the alternative, as far as he knew, would be to cross the vast, open plains of a floor he could have done in a hop, skip and a jump a mere hour or so ago. Who knew what could have there?
'Eight feet's not much: I can just lower you down. Just remember to bend your knees when you land and you'll be fine.' He shot a questioning look at the ground. 'Any volunteer to take point?'If no one would, he was prepared to go in first.
(Clarification- you are in fact on the floor of the room. The owl saw the seat and the back of the chair as it flew 100 feet up in the air.)
As the party discusses whether to venture into the subterranean tunnel in pursuit of Durnik's handaxe, the earthquakes suddenly begin again, with loud thunderous impacts and deep rumbling noises. After a few moments, a familiar flash of redlight blinds you temporarily, and a loud POP! followed by a sudden gust of wind buffets you from the west. You're not sure, but there might be someone over there that wasn't there before.
Amelia's about to volunteer to go in first--she's not afraid of rats, even relatively giant ones--when there's more earthquakes, and someone shows up. "We should probably investigate that before we go in," she remarks, and then starts heading in that direction before anyone can respond.

Zithers stands up a little too fast and stumbles, but quickly follows, pushing both pairs of glasses back up his nose. As the party gets closer are there any signs of hostility from the figure in the distance? (if insight is needed it is 9)
Durnik crouched down and muttering to himself about “Stupid rat… stole my axe”is completely oblivious to the new arrival as he looks down into the tunnel, but will get up and follow as he notices everyone else leaving. He’ll ask ”Wait why are we leaving? We need to get that rat.”
Zithers looks back to Durnik, and says "Rats are predictable. They eat, sleep, steal axes and children, the like. People, on the other hand," Zithers gestures to the figure "are much harder to figure out and we should make sure there's no hostility before moving on so our backs aren't turned whilst we get attacked. And who knows, if it's friendly maybe it's got better food than an oversized chunk of floor cheese"
Two of these lovely creatures charge at you, curious and hungry.
So no initiative, each of you post what you'd like to do, and I'll weave it together.
