With the skeleton exploding in flames, Matthias would quickly jump around Rasp to view the other side of the column, arrow at the ready, but sees the skeleton right when it falls off the ledge, lowering his bow seeing Faloniir with both blades in his hands. He'd send a telepathic message to the elf: One-to-one? He'd smirk, motioning down to his arrow sticking out from the dead-center of the skeleton's shattered and charred sternum.
He'd whisper to Rasp, who was ready to defend the line from the skeleton, "At your back." He'd ready another arrow, ready to follow the paladin's lead and keep his eyes and ears open for any other sounds of rattling bones or anything out of the ordinary.
Not one for many words, Rasp calmly lowered his shield upon seeing the skeleton defeated. The hooded Kenku gave a single, curt nod towards Matthias; Rasp's duty lied as a sentinel and guardian of the mission, regardless of the Paladin's desire to lead a frontal charge into the ranks of the enemies.
Once the troop has ascended the staircase, the Paladin muttered an incantation - the voice he borrowed deathly and hoarse, a discordant array of nonsensical words in forgotten, ancient tongues. Rasps's patron had bestowed upon him the phrases necessary to complete somatic incantations - for Rasp could not speak them himself, resulting in the Paladin's spells assuming an edge of something otherworldly and terrifying.
(Expending one use of Divine Sense. Until the end of Rasps's turn, he knows the locations of any Celestial, Fiend, or Undead within 60' of him not behind total cover.)
"Well, fine work everyone. Seems like perhaps those two ladies put together a formidable team here!" Edrik says as the two skeletons fall. "Shall we try for the door once again?" He still keeps his bow in hand, ready for some other creature to pop out.
No other sound or movement is detected within this part of the cellar, but as the group moves toward the skull-adorned door, Eldeth's detect magic spell warns her of something: the door radiates the pale, sickly yellow aura of necromancy...
"Ach, that was quick!" Eldeth says. "I didn't even have time to get a -- hold up there, there's evil magic on that door. No one touch it."She peers closer at the door. Does the aura stick close to the door, or does it radiate away from it in any way? "Dispelling it's beyond me, but I can try using mage hand to open it from afar if it's unlocked. We should take cover, though, in case there's a blast effect." She gestures towards the niche to the east of the door.
Faloniir will smile to Matthias and think back, Surgical indeed. Zero to One I'm afraid, it wasn't my blade that felled this abomination. Perhaps Edrik will win the coin.
To Edrik he will say "Nice shot, thank you for the help friend dwarf."
Faloniir will heed Eldeth's warning and find someplace to dodge.
The party pauses its approach toward the door, and Eldeth makes a closer investigation. The eyes of the skull seem to be the source of the necromantic magic.
"We've got two options -- my mage hand can try the door, and open it if it's unlocked, which will hopefully set that off while we're still a ways away. But if it's locked, someone's going to have to get right up to that thing." She looks at them. "But most spells require a line of sight or an unblocked path to a target. If someone could loan me their shield, my mage hand can hold it right over the skull's eyes, and hopefully that'll block it enough to give someone a shot at unlocking it."
Matthias thinks to himself, He didn't see Barkas explode it because he was on the other side of the column, nice! Walking around toward the door with the group he'd spot the other skeleton crumbled at the bottom of the ledge with an arrow stuck in it's eye, humming in approval. "Nice ace right there." He'd whisper to Edrick.
With the group, he'd watch Eldeth do her thing. "Hey, whatever works for you. Feathers has a shield." He'd tilt his head to Rasp.
Edrik chuckles a bit at Faloniir's suggest he might get the coin. "I don't need a competition. It's enough that we all defeat the enemies. Helps with the staying alive part of life."
"Yes, why don't you try it Eldeth with your Mage Hand spell. We can stand back and go from there." he says. He will also find a spot back from the door, waiting to see what happens.
"All right, I'll check and see if it's locked first," Eldeth says. She waits until everyone (including herself) is behind cover or as far from the door as they can get, then summons her mage hand and instructs it to try and open the door.
Barkas finds a place out of sight of the eyes on the skull on the door. "Anyone who wants to use my shield is welcome to it. Any other ideas? Should we try to blast it?" Barkas goes up against the cave wall and considers the situation.
Faloniir will say to the group, "If anyone has a set of... *clears throat* Locksmith's Tools, I have some experience with them. I can try to pick the lock. Otherwise, perhaps we explore the upper ledge further? There may simply be a key around here someplace."
If someone has Thieves' Tools Faloniir will attempt to pick the lock. DEX Sleight of Hand check w/proficiency with Thieves' Tools: 25
If no one has a set of Thieves' Tools, Faloniir will walk quietly over to the other two paths with his senses picking up what they can.
(Hopefully, I'm not taking too much liberty here...)
With Edrik's thieves' tools in hand, Faloniir approaches the door and sets to work. After a span of ten seconds, he hears a satisfying click, indicating the door's lock has been freed. After Faloniir steps away from the lock, Eldeth once again directs her mage hand to try the door. Without incident, the door opens and reveals a narrow passageway that leads into what appears to be a dungeon. Five iron doors line your path. From behind the last door on the right (door B) comes a muted banging sound.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Faloniir will cautiously enter the hallway, keeping an eye out for traps or enemies lurking, and follow the banging sound to the last door. He will press his ear against it and attempt to discern the source. If it sounds like someone needs help, he will try to open the door.

(I would add that Eldeth would've borrowed a shield to cover the skull while he was working on the door, as she'd suggested, just in case).
Eldeth will look around again with detect magic, even if she can't see through the doors with it. With her Stonecunning, can she notice anything interesting about the architecture?
Eldeth's spell reveals nothing magical about the doors or the hallway. The stonework in this area is crude and utilitarian; she's certain no dwarf was involved in its fashioning.
The banging sound behind the door does indeed sound very much like a humanoid fist might be pounding on the door repeatedly...
Faloniir's banging on the door is met with the sound of rapid pounding and scratching, giving him the impression that more than one creature might be behind the door.
