" Ah skull and bones… Why do these evil dark mages always use the same motif? Shouldn't they add flowers, unicorns or naked girls for originality?" Maybe because of his nervousness or maybe because of the two attractive girls walking in front of him, Carlos was momentarily distracted and he paid the price. The undead arrow pierced through the young man's armor, stuck in his shoulder and made him groan in pain.
"Oh you think today is your lucky day? Take down two adventurers at once? Too bad! I'm still very much alive! " Carlos runs to the fallen gnome. He takes the Potion of Healing from Harq, opens the wizard's mouth and pours the potion into his throat. Then the cleric uses his own body and shield to cover the gnome and protects him from further harm.
Potion of Healing:6
Action: Use Harq's own potion to heal him and protect him with Carlos' body. Since Harq is a small creature, I assume Carlos could give him a half cover.
Rawlings moved to the other side of Sarya to get a better look at these skeletons, “ah, here’s what I mean by ominous!” And she goes to spear the skeleton with her yklwa and finish with a punch in the face
Assuming the sword-wielding skeleton goes down with a clatter due to the combined efforts of Thoradin and Rawlings, Sarya turns to the skeleton with the bow and swiftly curses it (Hex, dex) before taking a quick aim and firing a bolt at it.
As the potion pours down his throat, Harq’s eyes open wide as he suddenly remembers the skeleton charging at him and cutting him down with it’s axe. Still on his back he ducks beneath Carlos’ legs. He then looks takes a breath and asses the situation, and points up at the skeleton over him, saying “The dead should stay dead…” as a psychic spike attacks what there is of the undead’s mind ((for 3 - int save dc 14)).
Thoradin's hammer fills the cave with the sound of bone being splintered as it strikes the skeleton. Then, as Harq sputters back to consciousness, Rawlings spears the undead, and it clatters lifelessly to the floor.
Seconds later, the remaining skeleton tumbles off the ledge and slams into the ground, never to rise again. Sarya's magically-infused bolt combined with the psychic attack from the revived Harq overwhelm the skeleton.
Combat has ended.
For Harq
Assuming the investigation of the door is still a matter of interest after combat...
Harq has done a bit of reading and research about magical traps, and he recognizes the nature of this one immediately. The eyes of the skull that adorn the door will emit some sort of damaging magical energy if anyone touches or damages the door. The solution? Gouge out the eyes.
"And stay down..." Sarya growls at the heaps of bones. "Good job guys. Can you go on Harq, we really need your insights into the arcane now."She says to the gnome while scanning the cavern for more threats. Perception: 12
" Go for it, Harq. Oh by the way, I like girls. Tall and slender girls. Even though you are a very attractive gnome. I can't answer your feelings if you are impressed by my charm… Agh! " Carlos slams his body on the wall, lets the arrow penetrate his shoulder and pulls it out. While treating an arrow wound, he says. " To be honest. I have underestimated this mission. We have only one night. That means we can't sleep in this cavern nor take much rest. I have to manage my resources… wisely" He takes the Potion of Healing and wonders if he should drink it now.
"Oh, the priest likes tall and slender girls, thanks for sharing, that seems very relevant to our dangerous mission." Sarya comments, glancing over at Rawlings while moving closer to the next door, trying to figure out if, or rather how it is trapped. Investigation: 12 not touching the door yet.
Quick work of the skeletons. Good, this crew was looking to be alright, well (she pauses in mid thought), I guess one did go down for a bit. Best to keep on our toes.
As they are gathering back together once combat has ended she listens to the chatter and huh, she hears talk about females all the time, but from a cleric? That’s new. As soon as she has these thoughts Sarya about echoes them. Rawlings glances up and catches Sarya’s eye. Well, at least there are brains in some of these characters.
”what are we looking at here? What would these skeletons be guarding?” While others are looking at the door, Rawlings checks out the fallen. Investigation: 10
Harq slowly gets to his feet and looks around the chamber, the little owl flapping down to his shoulder appears a bit angry as it ruffles its feathers. "Yes yes. Next time you can go ahead and see what's in the room first,"Harq replies to him. Once on his feet his brushes himself off and glances around the room, still a bit skeptical of all the shadows, but after a moment or two decides things are as safe as possible and walks up towards the door and the skull. Looking it over he almost chuckles to himself at how common a trap this is. "The door seems to be watching us." he says to the group, adding, "Take out the eyes and it can't respond."

" I swear that information will be useful one day." Carlos winks at Sarya. He turns gaze to the potion, after a moment of thinking he empties the bottle. Goddess only knows this will be a life saver or just a waste of resources.

" Ah it's Apricot! I hate apricot. Why do they keep making apricot flavor potions! " Carlosdrinks water towash down the taste of the potion. " So the eyes of the door are magical. It can see things and call the guards. But how will we take them out? The door will summon skeletons if someone gets too close right?"
“Ah! That’s the problem with some specific spells,” Harq says, continuing, “it’s set to guard the door. Not itself. Poor programming really…”* He then waves his hand as a spectral hand floats over and pokes out the eyes of the skull.
*((that’s my understanding from the dm spoiler above))
Sarya ignores the comment from Carlos and tries to focus on the mission. "Hey, neat trick Harq, have to teach me that sometime." Sarya says, a bit excited over this useful piece of magic she just witnessed, while readying herself for what lies beyond the skull door.
Rawlings looks over the two skeletons but finds nothing of significance: bones, tattered bits of leather and cloth, pieces of metal armor, and their weapons (shortbows, 5 arrows, and shortswords).
Meanwhile, Harq summons a spectral hand, and with a dagger in its grasp, it floats forward and gouges out the eyes of the skull. No trap is triggered, and whatever ill the lich intended with this door is averted. Setting aside the dagger, the hand then attempts to pull the door open, but it appears the door is locked.
(To save a bit of time for everyone, I took a bit of liberty with Harq's use of the mage hand by having it try to open the door)
"Let's see if I can help out with this."Sarya says and produces some tools from under her black cloak and starts working on the lock. Thieves tools: 16
Sarya hears the satisfying click that indicates the door is now unlocked. Opening the door reveals a narrow passageway that leads into what appears to be a dungeon. Five iron doors line the path. From behind the last door on the right (door B) comes a muted banging sound.
"After you gentlemen." Sarya says with a slight bow at Thoradin and Carlos. "I suggest we stay focused on that spellbook and don't scour the place for other stuff." She adds as she follows down the corridor. Perception: 7 Stealth: 13
" We learn something new every day. Now I know how to set proper security with skeletons. Will be handy, when I make my own evil lair one day. "
Carlos bows back to Sarya. He steps in the dungeon, stops at the first corner and peak into the corridor with the night vision Selûne granted him.

" Hey Harq. I've heard owls have a good sense of hearing. Can your little friend check what is inside the cells? They might give us some information." Assuming they are not undead though, he mutters to himself.
Sarya and Carlos study the dungeon hallway, looking and listening for anything of concern. There's nothing of note other than the dull banging sound coming from behind the cell door (B).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"You hear that sound, I'll bet it's one of this Rot lady's minions banging on the cell door. Stay on the mission boys and let's see what's down this corridor." Sarya suggests, motioning for the others to continue. New perception: 18 and stealth: 6 if needed.
